- disgusted in PAHave received 12 calls from them from December 15th through today....never answered until this morning (waiting for important call and couldn't see my caller ID...) said it was Midland Credit calling about my Verizon account...said as of March 2013 Verizon hasn't had my account, it was sold to them. Indian-sounding male voice...I said I don't believe this is legitimate since I never saw anything in writing, so I hung up on him. Will block the number....

- CraigP replies to lakawakOk but people like myself who have excellent credit and don't owe a dime to anyone get thousands of threatening calls from creditors non stop because my divorced wife of 25 years decided not to pay her bills several years ago?
How is that right? How do you justify the harassment?
I call them all back one by one telling them I have no connection with her and we have been divorced for 25 years and yet many continue to call. Just when it dies down whoever she owed money to hires more creditors to call my number when will it end? - Spice replies to CharlieAnne| 3 repliesWhat happened to call blocking? Why isn't the FTC taking care of this crap?
- Spice replies to Bryan| 1 replyGet a referee whistle & blow it hard into the phone.
- BigA replies to SpiceThey have been fined numerous times and sued as well. Read up on it somewhere around page 23.
- BigA replies to SpiceThe good news is that the whole whistle/air horn thing will damage hearing. The bad news is that it will be your hearing that is damaged. That whistle/air horn thing is an urban myth.
- john replies to Kdogi called the number back andtold them they don't have right guys number and they removed me
- ColleenI get calls from this number from 8am to 9pm. They never leave a message. 7 days a week! Very annoying.
- OnYourSide replies to CharlieAnneThe next time they call, pick up the phone and blow a whistle as loud as possible. They will continue calling, even if they have a bogus claim, until their contract is up for this supposed debt. Do not compound your loss with any level of guilt or concern over these electronic thugs.
- cwthey call our business line 4-5 times daily. We have to stop helping customers to answer phone. I finally called the number back. It was Midland Credit asking for someone we don't know. I ask them to take our business number off their calling list!. The man had a thick accent . Would you believe they just called right back and I was a woman this time. I told them not to call here again and I was reporting them to the attorney generals office an I hung up.

- Carrie replies to Tim| 3 repliesI know they call here all the time, and have for several years. no message, different numbers. I've been using the new *60 block some of the phone companies have but it only holds 12 or so numbers and I keep having to clear it and start over. I'm planning on getting a phone that blocks but the one I can find that's affordable only holds 250 numbers at a time. I've considered getting my phone number changed but figure they will still get it again, we have to give out our number so much for other things, it gets in the database and maybe some are just auto dialed. For a few months now I've been getting calls all day and night from "Verizon" (financial) looking for someone that doesn't live here but I once let use my landline phone to call and make a payment on her cell phone (which had been shut off) so they now have my landline number in their files. I don't have Verizon, personally. They sometimes leave a message to have the person call them, but her (Verizon) phone is turned off. I guess to get them to stop I have to harrass her to call them? She said she already made an agreement to pay them when she gets her tax refund in a few months but they still call me. I guess I could have worse problems than continually getting calls and at some point I'll be able to block 250 of them at a time. As to putting the phone up to the TV or blowing a whistle it seems like most of these calls there's no one there, or it's a recording. I've heard NOT to answer them because then they know it's a real/legit number. But seems like getting an answering machine would be the same thing. One of them (that comes back to Midland Credit) was calling me every morning around 8:15 am and no message. Do they think if they keep bugging people we'll give the money to stop?
