- Ann CannonI don't know who it is. Most of the time when I answer, there is noone there. Then on the occasion there is, there is such an accent I can't understand them.

- Consumer Debt FreePhone bank call from Asset Acceptance, bottom feeding debt collectors. Trying to verify some dude named Daniel to transfer to an agent to discuss a personal matter. I asked the dude with the very thick East Indian accent if this was a solicitation call and he kept repeating that it was a "personal matter". Did this like 5 times and it was the same response. It's obvious he is reading from a script! LOL!!! I got this number like 3 years ago and still getting these collection calls! They need to update their files! People change numbers all the time and so many are being recycled. It's such a pain in the ass! Laws need to be passed that collection of old debts are null and void after 7 years and the phone numbers associated with the debts be automatically purged from the debt files and cannot be called.

- LynneI kept getting calls from this number saying he was a tranfer caller. His accent was so heavy I couldn't understand a word he said . He had my full name and wanted me to verify it. At least i think that is what he was trying to say. I just blocked the number. They keep calling though because i get a message from my phone saying that the blocked number has called.
- popsthegoat replies to RCthis attorney or counselor or lawyer is like every other idiot that goes into the fiction of law! They only want to cause trouble for other people, while they sit on their fat butt. Did you know if they sell dope to kids, do time, and get out they can go back into the fiction of law. All they have to do is say "Oh yea, I learned mu lesson" and they can go to work again. Let a common folk try that and see what happens.
To respond to the answer, this idiot is chumming for work. Talk about a bottom feeder, the idiot has to put an ad for bill collector abuse. The only thing scum understand is a law suit, which can be done by any one, but wont be won, in that the judge is also an attorney. - Willie PlankheadI don't mind you calling, but state your reason for calling, maybe I can hook you up to the right dept., no one ever say anything

- DallasThis is Asset Acceptance. Even if they know the debt is past the statute, they will try to trip you up by asking if you challenge the debt. If you reply that yes you owe it but it has passed the statute of limitations by several years, they will ask if you challenge it. If you admit you owe it, challenge it or give them any money, it starts the debt all over again. Better not to even talk to them.
- Dallas replies to DebtorDear Debtor. If you pay the agency for an old debt, it does not improve your credit rating. In fact it makes the debt stay on your credit report for 10 more years! Also you are paying a 3rd or 4th-5th-6th generation collector. They may even file a 1099-c for the difference so you end up paying taxes on that to Uncle Sam.
Any monies given to the debt collectors does not pay back your original creditor. If your debts are 7 years old they will be off your report in 3 more years. If you want to feel better about giving back for a time when you were down and out, give to charity -not these bottom feeders.
Now I am saying this because of the age of the debt. If you your creditor turns the debt over to a collection agency, and the debt is within the statute, the collector CAN come after you and may file a lawsuit to get a lien put on your property or get the court to order you to pay. This action is taken within the first 24 months of the debt. If it is later than that, the creditor probably sold it to these junk collectors. Junk collectors CAN take you to court but they generally do not have proof of the debt. If you ever talk to them ask them to send proof and you will probably not hear from them again. If they file a court date and you don't show up, they automatically win the judgment.
You might check your statute of limitations. It is different for every state. Texas is 4 years. Oklahoma is 3.
Good luck to you! - Dave replies to dianemf50Dude, how do you get hurt sitting in a chair and dialing a telephone? LMAO

- Marcia HartI have received 3 calls from this number on my cell phone-I ignore it each time but it's getting to be annoying.
- rustyemsThis number showed up twice within a minute. I did not recognize it until I came here to see if it was a collection agency which it is. The number they called is a back up number to a back up phone so I wondered how they got it. I did not return the calI. It was not worth the 10 cents per minute to waste on them.

- JessicaFirst time I got this call I completely missed it, second time I didn't answer because I read the comments on here. I can't for the life of me think of any debts I could have. I do get a lot of calls for someone named Melissa who I guess got bored of paying her bills and decided to get a new phone number. (Why do so many people ask if I know where the pervious owner of the phone number is? Why would I?) I clearly state my name 3 times in my voice mail which has cut back on a lot of calls for Melissa. Anyway this number calls at 7 in the morning but doesn't leave a voicemail. If you want to be called back, leave a voicemail and say you're looking for ME.
- GLaDOSStarted calling me today, I added *67 to the number and called it back, a robot voice says "Thank you for calling Asset Acceptance" and then puts you in a hold queue presumably for a live person but I hung up before I found out. This is almost certainly a debt collector or a scammer. Add it to your "straight to voicemail" list on your cell like I have.
