I am an attorney in Florida.  It took me a mere 2 phone calls and 1 fax (to confirm my representation of my client) to have the "case closed" and to reveal "we have no originals to make copies of" regarding an alleged debt.  Interestingly enough someone named Trish Glover claimed on the phone to be the "owner" of Check and Credit Reporting, Inc.   Needless to say this is likely illegal activity in Florida under state law as well as outside the scope of federal law for collections.   The company appears to hide behind the procedure of external person calling you and asking you to call their number.  Unfortunately this is legally insufficient to satisfy the letter of the laws in Florida.  Whether my client will pursue sanctions or not I do not know but they are entitled to do so.   Do yourself a favor and hire an attorney for an hour or two of work and get this company off your back.
