I know nothing of the number indexed to this thread, but hit if searching a number that I've been called from that for a change, is not a fake (even if someone else may be using it in scams that play on its real owner).  

757-591-6001 is legitimately a UPS number used to make outbound calls in Virginia.  It's a Verizon landline in their Newport News, VA office.  

I've being called by them on it per CID, over legitimate issues of damaged package claims.  

If it's showing up on calls that aren't from the real UPS, then VOIP scammers may be using it as a fake as they often do.  For a change though, 757-591-6001 is a real and valid number used by UPS agents for problem deliveries and damage claim investigations, mostly for a limited region of Virginia and North Carolina.

Crap! I just got this stupid call and feel I got scammed somehow.  This needs to be taken care of and these people need to be apprehended. something bad is going down. They are NOT UPS.  Saying there was trouble with a delivery from "mumble mumble" and needed to get info. Stupid! URGH.  

They said a different name then mine and asked for my name, telephone number and address. This is scarey.

I'm not sure if its a scam or real, because currently i do have a Lost Package Claim in process.
I received a voicemail this morning (Saturday) about my claim and i was told to call 866-706-6894 and reference my phone number and any agent would be glad to help. However when i called the 866-706-6894 they were closed because its Saturday... weird.

today got call from 866-706-8694 said it was UPS funny thing is it is SUNDAY and all there offices are closed. when i try to call it back it is a recording but no one is there and you can not get anyone no matter what you try. this has to be some type of a scam because i do have a lost package but sure as heck all of the UPS number say there closed. freally funny to is fact my phone never rang just had the voice mail of this??

I got this call today about aUPS package that truly was lost. UPS left a voice mail, with the callback # 866-706-8694 and left the correct tracking number for me to reference when I called back.  I tried to call back several times, getting a 'this number is not in service' recording, that's why I looked at this website to see what the deal was. But I did finally get thru, the guy just wanted to verify that yes, the package was picked up, no, the consignee has not received it, and no, it has not been returned. So this is a legitimate contact for UPS Lost Package Dept.

I received a message about a UPS lost package -- I truly do have a missing package -- and they left this number and the contents of the misplaced order (an LL Bean order). However, when I called the number that was left, it went to a Walmart gift card promotion! I asked why am I being offered a Walmart gift card since I'm calling about my missing package. The person on the other end of the line said they needed some information from me, and that UPS is busy, which is why I as redirected to this promo. She then pushed me to give her information, and I pushed back, and then she hung up on me. I just called a "real" UPS customer service number to report the number/incident. It turns out (from the last "real" UPS person I called) that 866 706 6894 is an actual UPS number; my (real) UPS customer service rep called the number and said it is NOT authorized (to be re-routed for a Walmart promo), and he will report it, and we should report the fraud, too.

This is a number left from caller id 520-806-6666 from UPS.  I did have a "lost" package.  More like the ups delivery person never delivered to my address but "left" it at the "rear door" when I was home to receive a package.

Didn't have the issue of being forwarded like Newton.  They can search via phone number registered with ups of the package that was "experiencing problem" if you didn't have the tracking number.

I received a call from a guy claiming to be a UPS investigator for a missing package.  I have a claim in and at first I almost gave out my information.  But he gave so little information, said his name was Aldo, from Arizona.  The name with the number was not my name, and I began to be suspicious.  Then I heard a phone hang up, like an old-fashioned receiver clunking down.  I said "someone just hung up a phone."  He said he didn't know what I was talking about...he gave me a return number when I asked for it.  This number.

I just noticed that an ad on this site is from one of the companies I put a report into concerning my lost package.   I mentioned UPS in the claim.  Is there a connection between Lofty, an on-line art buy-and-sell site and the fake UPS?

This is a legitimate UPS claims phone number.

I first called another official Account Holder UPS number to verify, and the package was indeed claimed as missing by my customer.  Despite the odd conditions of receiving the call at 12:30 AM and having no knowledge of the shipment being missing, it is legit.

All claims go directly to the shipper of the package with UPS, so customers are better off contacting the shipper of the package rather than UPS.  This could also help you receive your goods/refund in a more timely fashion.

Story resolved with the package being given to a neighbor who forgot to bring it by before leaving for the weekend.

I just received a call from this number, and I'm not sure if it is a fraud or not, because I did just lose a package. I believe it is legit and I'm not sure why so many people are saying it's a fraud,

received call from man who identified himself as UPS  package investigator. Asked us to re-ship product as package arrived opened. Sounded fraudulent from the start.  Asked me to call 866-707-6894.

The call was valid. Received a message regarding a shipment into Mexico. When I called back, she did not identify herself as being from UPS. She answered "This is Sharon". She asked me personal information. I told her I was not comfortable giving her any information because she did not identify herself as being from UPS and I hung up. The shipment she called about was over a month ago. I talk to UPS almost every day and this did not sound like UPS. I have preferred service with UPS and I called them. The call was valid. I let my preferred team know that people are questioning these calls because of the questions being asked.

This was a callback number I was given on a voicemail from 520-806-6666. The voicemail said they were calling about a shipment of LaCoste Tshirts to Jake Pu$$y (he seemed embarrassed saying it.) even gave a tracking number. Needless to say, I'm not Jake and I didn't order any shirts.

Got VM wanting to follow up on a package with UPS. When I called 866-706-6894 it sounded like an automated answering service. Asked if was sender or deliver. When I answered, asked me to confirm my address. I hung up.
Certainly felt like some sort of scam or fraud.

I contacted UPS fraud regarding this number and the original number used.  Here is the official reply regarding this phone call:

Thank you for forwarding this information to us.  The phone call you received is not a legitimate UPS communication.  We are aware that individuals may inappropriately use the UPS name or its services to perpetuate fraudulent activities.  Please be aware the actual phone number can be masked or spoofed on caller ID and appear to be a legitimate UPS phone number when it is not.

We appreciate you alerting us to this latest incident.

I received a message from UPS and was given this number to call back.  The caller gave me a UPS tracking number, this phone number and knew the name the package was addressed to, only the delivery address was wrong.  The address was from the store who had placed the order for us.  I went to the UPS website and entered the tracking number, it was valid. I called UPS on their 800 number, not this 866 number.  It turns out the call was LEGITIMATE. I had been contacted by a real UPS agent!  So, I don't know what to say.  Just call the 800 UPS number listed on their website.  If it's a legit call, they'll know, if it's not, they will report it in their system.

I agree. Similar story to yours. I called the (866) 706-6894 number and it is a legitimate UPS Customer Service number.
