Don't neglect those little $1.00 charges.  It may not seem like much, but it is a test charge to see if your account and number will accept the charges...then when it does, you'll get a bigger charge sooner or later.   Call your bank immediately to cancel your card or account, and get a new number from your bank.  This is what my bank told me, after that little $1.00 charge showed up on my account.

We were called by our cc company asking if we purchased anything from ITUNES. We definitely had not and are disputing the charges. The card company shows this number as the one called or to contact about the purchase on our bill. There were $1.05, $10. and 4-$200. charges. Cancelled our card immediately. This occurrence was on 3/12/09.

This is was the message I received on my online statement:  VISA CHECKCARD DB-POINT OF SALE, APL*ITUNES 866-712-7753 CA.  Have cancelled my card and the FBI is investigating along with the U.S. Attorney's Office and the Attorney General's Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Stay PROACTIVE, folks.  Not to worry, this can all be traced.  That is why it is called a COMMANDMENT and not a SUGGESTION or a GOOD IDEA:  Thou shalt not steal.

i work in Iraq so am not able to go to my bank. But i have a 16.83 charge on my account from APL*ITUNES 800-843-2665. It is still pending and i was going to wait and see if it dropped off but after hearing the stories above i don't think that will happen.I just have to suck it up and figure out how to not have it happen again.  Any ideas

i was disputing charges on my credit card totaling $101.39 for the same itunes crap. i called the 866 712 7753 and a woman picked up. I asked, "is this apple?"
"i make candy apples", she replied in a creepy voice and hung up. i immediately hit redial(exact same number) and i got a fake apple automated recording that eventually hangs up on you!!!

APL ITunes charge for $1 on my VISA, not made by me nor my husband.  This is a "fishing expedution" by someone to see if card is valid.  I immediately canceled the card and reported it to my bank's fraud department.    Why doesn't the FBI close this company down???

Same deal. $450 charged to my bank account this month. This is going to cost someone a lot.

Got hit for $1.00 tooday from APL*ITUNES 866-712-7753 and for $1.13 from APL*MOBILEME as checkcard transactions. Luckily I saw them while they were still pending and cancelled my debit card immediately. I will report them to the bank fraud department when they post (bank says I can't do it while they are "pending").  Also luckily I saw this before they hit me for more than that.  This was definitely a "phishing" expedition. If they saw the account as valid I'm sure I would have lost a lot more money.

To Chris in Iraq - email your bank and they can help. Hopefully you haven't gotten hit for more than the $16.83. Ask them to cancel your debit card. Also to them those charges are fraudulent and they will credit you the money back. You don't need to eat fraud against your account.

I got a charge on my account from this exact phone number, claiming to be apple itunes.  This has NOTHING to do with apple/itunes as far as I'm concerned, since I have never used itunes in my life.  As soon as I noticed the $1.00 pending charge, I called my bank to inform them that I did not make this charge and in hopes that they would monitor it so I don't lose any money.  The person filed a case for me and assured me that any of my money taken will be refunded to me (thank goodness...).  This isn't the first claim that had been filed against these guys from my bank, so hopefully they'll stop this stupid scam.  **IF YOU SEE THIS CHARGE, CALL YOUR BANK ASAP.  IT IS YOUR BEST BET FOR NOT LOSING ANY MONEY**

Same thing with me. I am super pissed. I just noticed that 4 transactions were made in my debit card from APL*ITUNES 866-712-7753. What do i do? Its weekend. Will my bank return the money to me? I am super pissed. I hope whoever is doing this will be caught.

Same thing here. (2) $50.00 charges back to back. I do have a iTunes account and whomever made these purchases have locked me out of my own account. So far Apple has responded with:

My name is Susan and I understand that you are seeing two charges for $50.00. Please know, I can appreciate your concerns and I'm happy to address them for you.

I received this $1 from AppleiPod on my statement followed by 7 - $49.95 charges from pocketgear.com and 1 from handmark.com.  My bank contacted us because there was also a $6000 charge trying to clear my bank.  Be very careful of this.  My understanding is this has nothing to do with the actual Apple company.  Someone is using their identity to steal other people's information.

same thing. never used iTunes before in my life.
they took $180 in the same day.
I can't contact my bank until tomorrow. if i don't get this money back i am going to be majorly upset. I've always been super careful about my debit card info. I'm 18 and saving up for car and college so this much money is a very big deal to me.

THANK YOU 1-866-712-7753  I-TUNES. . .I HOPE YOU ROT IN HELL. . .

Two purchases just cleared my checking account from "APL*ITUNES 866-712-7753 CA", one for $91.08 and another for $82.26.  On top of that a third is still pending for another $82.26 for a total of $255.60.  I called my bank, they froze my ATM card and told me to wait until the third purchases cleared my account before I filed a claim.  Best of all, because of these charges my account went negative so I have a charge from my bank of $37.00.  Hopefully they waive this fee once I file my claim.  I have no idea how anyone got my ATM card information...

Update, it's a total of 5 charges now, add in the $37 and $156 fee from my bank and I'm now out $630.76.  I filled out an "Affidavit For Unauthorized ATM/Debit Card Use" today, hopefully I'll get my money back soon.

I had roughly 500 dollars taken from my account because of this number.. I called apple and they did not seem to care that someone is stealing money from people.

I too was hit for 3 $1.00 charges from APL iTunes. Had to cancel my debit card and get a new one. What a pain in the "you know what". Hope they catch these creeps!
