It seems there must be a common thread, on how our account information is being stolen by these thieves.  Here is a list of my behavior, which I believe would have exposed me to vulnerability:

    -  All of my internet access is via my home computer network which is firewalled, as well as having 40 bit WEP encrypted wireless security.

    -  I do online banking - my bank is Wellsfargo.

    -  I have business and personal checking account "debit cards" through Wellsfargo, which were BOTH stolen and used for unauthorized transaction activity.

    -  Before my card numbers were stolen, Wellsfargo sent me new cards in the mail, for each account, stating my card numbers had been identified as being "at risk for unauthorized transactions" (which I was totally unaware of).  I activated the new cards received, on 05/21/2010.

    -  After receiving and activating the cards, the fraudulent *ITUNES charges appeared, pending on  05/25/2010.

    -  I have a PayPal account.  The last charge was a debit by OfferPal Media, as related to a payment for Facebook online gaming credits (the Facebook app is called "Friend Facts") on 01/12/2010.

    -  There were a number of Facebook Applications which were allowed to "see" my personal information from my Facebook profile.  I have now removed that access to my personal information.

    -  I do online purchasing, for most everything.

    -  I recently have updated my work experience, on numerous job search sites (Monster, Career Builder, etc.) where some sites require my demographic information, as well as a contact phone number.

    -  I recently found  infected registry entries, as well as system files, on my computer and removed them, via Microsoft's online Security Essentials website - http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm#

My logic in sharing the above information with you, is we may somehow find a common thread which is exposing us to this crime, then identify it, to halt this theft.

I suggest, please provide information as related to your experience in having your account information stolen - in sharing details on what we think we're personally doing to expose ourselves to theft, we may yet prevail in ending this issue as being a threat to all of us.

Good for you that you cancelled it.  My cc company called me due to suspicious charges. First Appleitunes charge $1,00.  Then followed other charges, all accross the USA, for fragrnacenet.com in NY and Moosejaw in Michigan and some Swiss company.  Fortunately my cc company noticed the suspicious activity the same day they started using my card and they managed to charge just over $200.00 and then my cc company cancelled the card, they tried to purchase more that day but could not.  I have never puchased from appleitunes

Apple is in no why responsible for this.  You people are victims of identity theft.  Your credit card information has been stolen.  It is not Apple's responsibility if someone used your stolen credit card.  It is the bank's responsiblity.  That is why you get no response from Apple and the Bank is only person to help out.

Have you ever eaten out at a restaurant?  Well your card could be skimmed and your information copied. Happens all the time.

Are you up to date on computer security?  So many computers have rootkits, keyloggers, and botnets that will steal your credit card information.

Most people that are victims of identity theft actually never lose their card.

This is not a scam by apple.  But yes, cancel your credit card if you every see pending credit card charges that were unathorized.  The faster you do it the more money you will save.

"APL ITUNES" hit me up for $1.19 and $2.28 last month. What do you buy for those odd amounts in the store?  Everything ends in ".99" something.

Gotta call your credit card co. In my case VISA which just changed all my credit card numbers due to a "backoffice change."  That in itself was a royal hassle.  I bet they got fkng hacked.

Okay so I checked APL ITUNES - 866 712 7753 and they were all legit charges!  LEGIT.  I matched it up with my kids' iTunes accounts and it matched up.  They buy stuff and don't often tell me.  Great.  Because now I know I'm not being scammed but continue to be vigilant.

I don't doubt that many of you are being scammed however, but this time I'm okay.

So, yesterday, July 16, 2010, I had over $80 worth of iTunes transactions from this number on my bank account.  There were 4 transactions total, all for weird amounts.  Not the typical $xx.99.

I called my bank, since the transactions are still pending in my account.  I have to wait for the transactions to be taken out of my account, which will probably be today sometime, before I can file a claim, but until then I canceled my ATM card.

Between my wife and I, we are trying to backtrack and figure out where it could have been compromised.  We signed up for a whale watching trip online, purchased some online products from large corporations, and paid for parking garage fees within the last week.

Hopefully this information will help you out.

I will be contacting the attorney general and local police to hopefully get the @#$%#$ that are doing this.  I hate crooked people.

I was charged over $800 to same this time and over $1,000 last time - to same Apple.  This is out of control and Apple needs to stop taking credit/debit cards and only take checks although they could probably get those somehow also!  Cancelled credit card again.

You guys are MORONS.  This wasn't Apple, but a Scam Company that STOLE YOUR CREDIT CARD information.  Do your research before you start threatening to sue.  Some people should NOT have access to technology.

    You're all idiots.
