Called my cellphone but didn't leave a message

Had a missed call on my cell with 866-719-2501.  I called it back and got a person from Cox Cable who was selling Cox Services.  It is just another telemarketing number.

I just answered a call from this number.  It said "Thank you for calling" and then disconnected.  Sounds phishy to me.

Rec'd call while I was outside.  Tried to return it - only rang and rang.
Should I be concerned?

I also got this number calling.  I called back .. I *67'd it... caller id block.. it rang many times.  someone "tanya" answered from "cox."  I said I got called from this number, it clicked.  Seems rather the same what other people have been saying.  She asked for my number I refused to give it to her.  she said it was the outbound number, which either way, you should get a recording to direct you where you need to go.  duh.  I have outbound cox programmed in my phone.  They have called me, legit, about service.  So yeah, I think we have some ID fraud happening.

received a call from 866-719-2501 on 2/12/08 at 11:48 am. caller ID says,
"unknown name" When I answered the message said "thank you for calling," and went dead, then heard dial tone. After reading some of the other complaints I am sure this is a scam in the working. I was going to call it back to find out what the nature of the call was about, but thought better of it concerned about possible charges to my phone or un-knowingly giving them access to any personal information. it seems whoever this is, they have access to information from many different phone companies.

Unknown Caller - No message - seems like a lot of people are getting this call.  Very instersting that someone above says they have been told Cox - I have received calls from Cox when my bill is due and it always comes from the same number - but never this 866-719-2501 number

I just received a call from 866-719-2501 (10:35 am on 04/09/2008) on my cell phone.  When I answered (while at work where I'm not supposed to take any personal calls unless its of an emergency nature), I heard "thank you for your call" and the line went dead.

Another one I'll file with the attorney general of Kansas, and Florida also since this came in on my cell phone.

4/9/08 just got a call from 866-719-2501 on my cell at 10:46 am CST. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a voice mail.. imagine that!!  So I called from my work landline and guess what...Cox Communications.. he answered the phone with "hello, Cox Communications, this is..." I hung up.
My cousin works for Cox Communications and she said that these calls are fraudulant and not to give out any information.  Call the number on your billing statement if you have any questions about your account.  DO NOT EVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE, CELL OR LANDLINE. They will also get you in email too.. so just beware and think before you give out information or click on a link in the email.. they can get personal info.  Go to the main website.. not through the email.

Called on 04-15-08 at 10:30am. No message. I called the number back on a different line. The person that answered identified herself as Kim and that she worked for Cox Communications. I told her I'd just recieved a call from her number and she asked for my number to tell me what the call was about. I hung up.

Caller, Ben, asked for my husband. I gave him the phone, and Ben said he was from Cox Communications and tried to sell us digital phone and extended cable service. My husband said no thanks, and Ben said they were offering it at a lower rate because we were loyal customers. Ben said ok, and finished the call.

I was called by this number 4-29-08 at 10:12am. No message.

I just got a call from this number, it is Cox Communications when they asked me for my phone number i gave it to them and they had a really good deal on internet and cable. I told them that I would call back, then I called the customer service number on my bill and they looked at my account and said that it was indeed Cox and that it was not fraud. I signed up for the service on the 866-719-2501 number and got the services no problems. They were very nice people, and they actually answer the phone in person, no recording! YAY

I really wishh that caller would have not hung up, as I could have given them a really good deal.

I got a call from this number and was extremely pleased to get  a HELL of a deal on digital cable from cox for 6 months.  The associate was very polite, and went through all of the details several times with me.  I cannot believe how unbelievably stupid these comments left here are to me.  Some people have nothing better to do than to be miserable and try to make everyone around them miserable at the same time.  Take a chill pill.

You might want to make sure you give your utilities a different number to reach you on if you do not want calls to your cell.

It amazes me how unbelievably paranoid people can be.  I understand to a certain extent but when Cox Communications is trying to call their customers to get a great deal I can't see the harm in that.  I called this number back when I recieved a missed call and the lady that I spoke with was able to vereify she did work for Cox and she told me about the specials they had going on.  She was even able to tell me how much my current bill was.  I did sign up for digital cable and she told me she would ship me a box and sure enough a couple days later I received my box, so I thought I would make a comment and let you people know this number is not a scam it really is cox Communications.  You can even call their customer service and they will tell you the same thing.

I dont' know who your cousin is, but if she/he does work for cox and is not aware of the group that does these calls.  I am one of the assiociates that make these calls from this dept.  Cox signs my checks.  I am not an outsourced dept.  You can call your customer service and they will verify this information is legit.  I am so tired of 'telemarketers' being the bad guy.  If you don't want the calls, then ask to be taken off the list, don't go to google and put a bunch of pias information on the web.  I am very upset about this.  I have  been a cox employee for many years, and do not appreciate the completely untrue information going out.

If you don't want your utility company to call you then you can simply ask them not to call you it is as easy as that

Someone from this number called my husband's cell phone and asked for me.  When they asked for me and my husband said I wasn't available, the person hung up.
