received call(s) from this number, no message left and  I will not call them back when I don't know who is call,  the number they call is listed with No Call and has been for several months, the calls are becoming more frequent and starting to irritate me.....  JUST QUITE CALLING IF YOU CAN NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE.

I CONTINUALLY GET CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER, HOWEVER, I DON'T ANSWER CALLS FROM 800 NUMBERS, AS I KNOW IT IS NOT IMPORTANT, OR THEY WOULD CALL FROM A REGULAR PHONE NUMBER.

I called the COX Communications number on my actual bill after receiving a call from this number and they stated it was NOT associated with them in any way and IF it were, they WOULD leave a message with instructions to call back during normal business hours.  The call came AFTER normal business hours!  It IS a scam!!!  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION AND REPORT THEM!

Hi. I've been seen all the messages. I work for a subsidiary of Cox, basically on telemarketing. All of our numbers start with 866 (because they're toll free) and some change depending on the offer that is available. Those offers are divided in campaigns, so not every customer will get the same call from the same number as not every customer qualifies for a certain offer. For example: If you have cable and phone, you will be called from the 866 number that offers internet deals, if you have internet, you will be called from the one offering cable and phone, and so on. This is done so when you return the call, the system will know what script and campaign will pop up in the communicator's screen based on the phone you dial back. We do sometimes leave voicemail (depending on whether or not the script requires it).

If you don't want to be called, you can just ask them to be removed from the list. If you hang up immediately (like most do) you will not hear a short disclaimer telling you that the automatic dialing system may take up to 30 days to successfully remove the number. Also for the person saying they ask her for her number, sometimes the system is too slow and the information does not appears all the time in the screen. So the script ask us to ask the customer for their phone number to look up the correct campaign and see the offer that we are able to give you.

Hi. I work in telemarketing. There is no way to stop calling a number unless the customer picks up the phone and asks not to be called again. We use an automatic system who picks up the numbers from different promotional campaigns and we have no control on what number we dial. So next time, the only thing you have to do is pick up the phone and say: "Do not call again, take me off the list." They will read you a small disclaimer, verifying your number and telling you that the system may take up 30 days to remove the number. I apologize as I understand that the calls can get irritating. But this is the only way, or else, wait until the promotional campaign ends.

Companies like Cox often subcontract others to do their telemarketing. Infocision is an example.

Also every legitimate business will always ask you to verify your information and will not (can not legally) tell you any information until they verify they are actually speaking to the real customer.

The government "Do Not Call" list also know as the National Do Not Call List only protects you against telemarketers with whom you have no relation. If you have services with any company, they can bypass this and call you. You just have to let them know that you want to be removed from they're list, as every company also have their own "do not call" list.

Hi. Cox doesn't uses the same number for their customer service and their telemarketing. Also, Cox and other companies sometimes outsource their sale to companies like Infocision. Hence, the different number.

    PS. I work at telemarkting.

The number may not be actually associated with Cox as it could belong to an outsourced company, like Infocision, that does telemarketing for different companies including Cox.

Also, any employee will never tell you information over the phone. They will always ask you to verify, either your phone number, account number, pin, etc.

    Ps. I work at telemarketing.
