I received a call last night from Anna Crown, via a hearing impared relay wanting to purchase puppies, the e-mail is below.  I replied to this person that I would need to recieve the money via western union that I would not be able to take a check or money order, and imagine that I didn't have any further contact.

I am sending you this email to make final reconfirmation of the Pups  which am willing to buy for my son as his birthday present and I also want to let you know that payment will be by certified Check or Money Order. However, I want to alert you on the fact that you will be receiving the Check or Money Order this week or next week and payment will cover your cost and as well as the shipping cost to be paid to the person that will take care of the pickup in your house. So please as soon as you receive the payment, get it cashed immediately, deduct the money that accrues to you and send the remaining balance to the Head Office of the company that handles the shipment via Western union. More so, I will pay you an extra $100 if you can reserve this for me. So in view of the above, Here are some of the details I will need for final issuance of the Check or Money Order to you.

They called me and they knew my name. What the hell?

People use this as either a prank or scam it was my friend that did it to me. he says anyone can do all you need is there number.

YES! I am the owner of a Personal Watercraft Rental service in Raleigh, N.C., and get the same calls from an alleged Eric Leung, who sends me e-mails to my business e-mail asking questions about rentals, prices, etc. All of the messages are relayed through a TDD Relay Operator. This person's e-mail is watersports22@aol.com. I'm certain it is a scam, but I cannot figure out why they would be calling a business such as mine with a scam. I believe the culprit is someone from Africa (Nigeria) who cannot speak English and using the TDD service to communicate.

Yesterday I got a call from 866-747-7352 also. A deaf-relay woman called. The man, Scott Louis, was wanting piano lessons for his son while he was here on holiday and wanted to contact me through email to set up the details. It was really important that I send the email while I was on the phone. By the time I finished, they were gone. (Had to set the phone down) Today I received a reply email from him that he wanted 16 piano lessons and to email him the cost for that and a client of his in the US would send me a check for that amount plus enough to cover travel expenses for his son. I was to deposit the check and send a check for the travel expenses to his travel agent in the UK...... Finding this very suspicious and strange, I did some research and found this site. Thank you!

Also said to be for hearing impaired; unfortunately my father iS hearing impaired and I thought he might be in trouble.
I was asked to stay on the lone to wait for the message......

then the message was ..President Barack Obama would like "EXPLITIVE".
I hung up immediately, but they called back again, immediately.

Against better judgement, I called the # today to see what it went to, and it is the Sorenson  number.......what IS this scam?

Now I assume I will have some outrageous overseas charge on my phone bill, right.

I knew better...should not have called back.

what agency do we actually complain to and how do we complain?

My son was hit by a drunk driver a few weeks ago, and the call came at 1am....my brain can't sift thru numbers and decide to NOT answer at that time in the am.

I pay for an unlisted number for this?

if you know it's a scam just hang up it would make the job easier for the operators and for yourself. relay is a legal service for the deaf... i just pity the operators who usually gets scolded or accused for relaying the sammer/fraudsters' messages lmao

I got a relay call from ben kim. He asked for a large pizza order. He pre-paid with a credit card. I immediatly batched off and it batched successfully. I sent a Western Union of $1010.00 of my own money. I don't see why the cc transaction shoudn't go thru.  Either way I'm calling the cops.

Update to my previous. Because of this website I was able to contact western union after ben kim added to his order. He wanted me to charge his mastercard and give the courier an additional $2300! I was able to get the Western Union transaction reversed by calling the WU fraud hotline. Luckily the money was still in the system.
    "Ben Kim" emailed and called telling me Ramone Heredia (accomplice?) Rosharon, Tx. 216 county rd58 told BK (how i dunno) that he couldn't get the money because I reversed the trasaction. Why?
    I told Bk that I found that he scammed lots of people using mostly the same M.O.. With me he Prepaid with a Mastercard. My guess is it's either stolen or a fraudulent burn card. my guessis BK would claim I never gave him his order thereby getting a chargeback in addition to the WU money.
    I told him I contacted the PD here and Rosharon then the asst. DA, the Tx AG office, the FBI here at the University, WU fraud and Mastercard fraud. Busy morning for me. The money was frozen pending an investigtion on that card.  I told him to give me his physical address so we can verify his identity to clear his name. His response...O.K....bye.

    The relay operator works for IP Relay operator #7004f. Haven't checked that out yet.
    I wrote this long post so all of their methods and names are exposed. When the lights go on the roaches scurry! If it sounds to good to be true it only takes a few minutes to google them. It could save you thousands.

This is a relay service paid for by the government for deaf and hearing impaired people to be able to communicate via telephone... it would be very difficult otherwise!!!!1

This is a legit company as I have received several relay calls for hearing impaired that are valid. It has not been a scam of any kind.

This is a video relay service for the deaf and hard of hearing, and totally legitimate.

We receive business calls all the time through this service.

Whether the initiating caller is legitimate is another matter I suppose.

I am with the Marshall County, MS Sheriff's Department.  We have a victim who was trying to sell a trailer.  Thankfully he did not send any money, but his experience mirrors the others posted.  If you post something, please, please list what agency you reported this to.  Law enforcement has to try and pull this together, so please file reports with your local PD, and list the agency and date of the report so Law Enforcement can then contact one another...Keep posting....sharing information is the only way to stop dirtbags like this!

Well it was a werid not when i got the call.Like my boyfriend and just broke up.So i wasnt thinking clear but all i know was the  call came in at 1:45am and i answer it was a man voice saying his name was frank and  he ask me if i have ever had a death threat agiant me ... hung up

Same here- someone named Eric calling me (boat and pwc rentals in Michigan). Went through the same routine last year about this time.

The relay services itself IS legintement. I am deaf myself and i get SO annoyed when people hang up on me because they think its a scam of some sort. I usually end up huffing and puffing down to the place just to get the information I wanted instead of being able to do it via phone like normal people.

However it IS true that there are people taking advantage of the relay services----so if it involves money your right to be careful but if they are just asking general rental questions, then by all means, answer them, u may have an actual deaf person on the other end, wanting to do buisness with you. And if u hang up or dont obligue you've just lost a deaf customer and probably his/her family and friends who will not do buisness with you.

When someone refuses to answer my call after the upteenth time, they've lost my business, and I make sure my family and friends go else where. Im not going to be hung up on, or told "no thank you" when im not selling anything.  And its annoying becuase even doctors and places hang up on me.  Some of us are actually innocent, so any readers reading this, PLEASE take the time to find out WHAT your caller wants.  If its information u can give them over the phone, then do so. I believe most deaf people will take information over the phone without requesting email.  I will request an email on occasion, depending on circumstance, and if that business does send out emails.

thats weird, i got a call from this same nmbr, but it was PURPLE communications, not sorenson, so any calls coming from this specific nmbr is probably a scam. I just hope that when hearing people hear "this is .....relay...operater number....."....that they dont automatically hang up justo ut of bad experience! :-/

I received a call from the same woman mentioned above asking me if I had every received a call for a hard-of-hearing person.  I promptly informed her that I could not hear her.
