Got a call from Vivian Lawerence and she lives in Wisconsin wanting to buy a puppy for her son.  The relay operator came on and said that they were recognizing the call to have fraudulent characteristics and that they were disconnecting.

Sorry to disappoint you all, but there is NO SUCH THING as a do not call list for relay companies. We're not trying to sell you anything.  We are placing a phone call for someone who is deaf or hard of hearing, because THEY want to call YOU. Not us as a company, or as an individual.  We're just doing our job.  If it's one in the morning, then don't answer your phone. Doesn't that make sense??  The reason there is no such thing as a do not call list for relay companies: it is illegal to withhold any information from anyone else's phone calls.  They are not OUR calls, we are simply providing a service so the hearing impaired community has the ability to place calls like any other human being. We don't keep records of who we call, who places the calls, nothing. So, sorry, but if a person is hearing impaired and wants to place a phone call, we place the call.  

However, if you feel you are being scammed in ANY WAY, please file a complaint! We CAN block certain email addresses and screen names from abusing the service, which is a completely different thing entirely.  Every person wishing to use our service has to go through a verification process now (to deter fraudulent uses of the service) so we can block people we know are using the service fraudulently.  But please try to understand, the operator is only doing their job.  They have no choice but to relay the content of the call and is in no way trying to scam you personally.  I myself HATE fraud calls and try to catch them every time to avoid upsetting the people we call and wasting time.  

I hope this clears up any misunderstandings and helps people to not be so angry or irate when a call comes through from an actual person that is hearing impaired. And please don't yell at the messengers (meaning myself and my fellow relay operators), we're trying to do our best!! :)

Just got a Call from Anna Crown via hearing impared messenger about an add I ran two weeks ago for puppies 4/22/11. AVOID! SCAM! AVOID! Their still tring to pull this scam. In less than 5 minutes later received another call I let voicemail kick in, could not understand name sounded like Pablo email arthur375877@aol.com

I had a call from a male for a hearing impaired person... it got dropped. Several moments later a female again saying they were trying to relay to a hearing impaired. I was giving the telephone number for the furniture company to answer their question, this time the caller cut the call short.. thought I would research the number with Google?

Same thing for me, some guy named ERIC using the relay and weird emails. I run boat and jet ski rentals in Santa Barbara CA.

Received phone call today from a female saying she was calling for a hearing impaired individual.  I asked who was calling, she said, will ask calling about puppies.  My husband took the phone and talked to her.  She wanted pics email to tablet900@yahoo.com.  Email came back and wanted to send a check or credit card with extra money for Western Union and someone would pick up the puppy at our house.  They wanted our personal information.

Same thing happened to me.  I'll buy your puppy via cashier's check.  Blah, blah blah. Told them they were scammers and leave me alone.

Lol so this dude isn't tryin to scam anyone he's just a deaf person who is obsessed with watersports and sometimes he gets a little lonely and creepy hahaha not sayin I work at a relay service or anything but you know lol

Well its nice to know all this,however if you guys are legit,then stop sticking your heads in the sand,and repeating sexually inappropriate things to ths person your calling.for if you placing a call for a deaf person,and they begin typing offensive,threatening,sexually perverted or fraud
lent things,then for gods sake,don't be a Moran and repeat it! That is exactly why people think you guys,the relay service is part of the prank call or scam! Another thing,is you guys should hire Americans,becouse when I get somebody on the phone that is placing one ,a d the call kid unusual. In in itself,then to make matters worse,you got some weirdo speaking broken English,that you barely can understand what they are saying,all it sounds like some foriegner,so ofcourse we ate going g to think its a scam and your part of it.if the relay operaters did not act so arrogant and secretive,if they'd answer some questions,and reassure people,that would help.I had 3 of those calls yesterday,as I have things for sale on Craig's list.I had never heard of this before,I thouvt it was a scam,to make matters worse,I got one at two am from same place,this timer I was asked questions about my last pelvic exam and " do I like two fingers in my [***], or just one". I had it on speaker phone so my husband could hear this [***],so he grabbed the phone,and goes " ya,and. Sometimes. She likes three,what about it?" A d slammed the phone down.we were like wtf? So I'm sorry to burst your bubble,but not all the operaters working for ths service are that innocent!  He was the one opening his damned mouth,relaying ths to me,I would love to locate this place and press. Barge charges for se ual assault,against the olsratsr! Do.t tell me you ha e to relay a e plicit harrSsing message! Would you follow a deaf person into busy traffic while. Both. I keep getting called from this number about every 10 minutes. I have not answered and they don't leave a message. I called back and a recording came on. Sorton IP Relay.

This guy just called me with the same name and e-mail listed here. Say's he/she  wants a jetski life vest shows from a CA number I'm in NJ. Maybe a kid or "special person" or a scam but judging from theses post (now its 2011) he is committed to call about Skis. The # is 909 962 7216 now, same thing with the Deaf Translate service.

I got 2 calls from 866 747-7352 this morning.  The first call came in at: 4:15am!!!!!  After not answering the first call,  I got another call from the same phone number 10  minutes later at 4:25?!?!?!  The operator gave me an email address where to email the person but im not sure if
its a legit phone call or not.  These P.O.S. people have nothing better to do than to try to ripp off
people....

I received two separate people contacting me with the SAME EXACT messages about buying puppies and cashier checks and sending the over amount to a "private shipper". SCAM!!!!

Member claiming to be Eric Lueng called three times asking questions about swimming and if he was allowed to wear fishy floaties. Be cautios number was 909-962-7216
