I received a call from this firm when my so-called cousin was working there.
I never knew or met my cousin, who is related through marriage, but knew he was an ex-con. He contacted my uncle who said he wanted to meet me and get to know the family. My uncle insisted I meet him so that we could all know the family. Every time my cousin called, my caller ID displayed "Law Offices of Brian Levy," which made it sound totally legitimate. As time went on, my cousin obtained knowledge of all my savings & checking accounts, stocks and bonds, and my 401K account. He told me he was going to ASU to study law and that his job at the "Law Offices of Brian Levy" was helping him. I did question him about his past felonies and how could he be able to study law with a criminal record. He told me the felonies were not serious enough to prevent him from studying law and that he was attending night school. He never mentioned to me that he was just a debt collector for a company who was paying to use "Brian Levy's Law Office" name to obtain payment. Me myself had some credit card debt worth about $50,000 and my cousin said he could help me. He contacted my credit card companies and made settlement offers for about one third of what was owed. He then asked me to withdraw $25,000 from my 401K, which I did, and he put it into his own personal account. He ended up paying $7,000 for one settlement and kept the rest of my cash. I called this firm, who never returned my call and found out later my cousin went back to prison for parole violation. This firm is allowing a collection agency to use its legal name, hiring ex-felons who have access to people's financial information, and is receiving a monthly fee from a collection agency for total misrepresentation. Total corruption!!!!!!!!

Law office of Joe Pezzuto (sic) calls every week or two asking for my daughter by name. They just say it's an important matter.  I finally told them to send something in writing if they expect a response.

a law office...not this one....garnished my wage. This was an old debt of my ex husband back in the 89. Because he keeps it active by settling and not paying then they spend time trying to find him...they always come back to me.....I guess because I own a home and work full time...same phone number, same job for 32 years. I have since remarried and my husband became disabled.....after my wages were garnished.....I went to a lawyer....and since I am the head of household because my income is more than his disablity the law firm dropped the case...but now I am getting calls again....from the same law firm.

So what did you finally do about the situation. I have had the same company call me on two occasions and both times that say, "How are you doing today Tiffany." and I reply, "fine." Then they go into asking if Im Tiffany .....I then say yes. Then they told me that I had a charge off for an account that I never had and also the birth date in which she asked if it was mine, and it to was not me. Then they ask for the last four digits of my social security number. Is this ligit or not! I dont know who they are but Im tired of people calling and ask if we are not going to pay this debt, and I dont owe it. My husband and I have not had any credit cards in ten years because we cut them all up and only pay what we can afford and do not depend on credit cards any longer.
Let me know what you were able to do about this. I have called the credit score places such as Experian, Equifax, and Transunion and Im not able to speak with any one on this matter.

They keep calling and leaving automated messages on machine, they don't even have the right number.  I called to let them know and got hung up on many times before calling back to speak with a guy who got beligerent with me when I told him not to call any longer, they have the wrong number.  This is ridiculous!

Maybe someone has stolen your credit identity!

We keep getting a call from this group and its for my father in law. My father in law passed away two weeks ago and I have talked to these people telling them that he is no longer alive and that I will send them a copy of the death certificate when we get it. But they still insist on calling and wanting to talk with my father in law. At one point they even said my husband and I had to pay the debt and would sue us if we didn't. I told them our names were not on any contracts and we wern't responsible for any debt my father in law had. They hung up on me after this.

I am getting tired of these people calling several times a day. Is there any way I can legally get them off our back?

they left message and have not mention anything.  just want to make sure they dont scam me or use my phone number

the thing is i did not make a debt with joe pedzutto  i should only have to pay the company i made the debt with,call your sen and congressmen and demand an end to third party collections tell them your stories and demand they do something to stop these predators before someone hurts themselves or goes into one of these place and does violence

Someone from this law office found my personal website online (that I have with my boyfriend) and used it to call the university that I attend school at.  When I got a call from the legal office of my university, I called the law office back...he proceeded to ask if my friends/family could pay the bill and then said, "what about Matt?" ...now, Matt happens to be my boyfriend.  When he said that, I was shocked...this is very personal information that is on no public records, nor is my boyfriend legally or financially related to me in any way.  Then, when I said I wanted something in writing about the account, he said if I wanted something in writing it would be a court summons.  These people are CREEPS.

Every state is different and only real lawyers can give legal advise, but I thought publication was only when you can't locate a person.  if they have your correct address and phone number from your SSAN, the court must notify you by mail of a court hearing date.  As the name implies I am not a lawyer, don't even play one on TV, but consult one before you talked to or agree to anything.

Actually, to be able to have a judgement against you, they must show that a summoons was served on you, whether by direct acceptance or delivery.  If they had your SSN, then yes, they could get to your credit report, which shows all of the addresses you have had in the last 7 years and beyond.  If you could not be located, and they gave a good faith effort by placing it in a newspaper, then you could get a default judgement.  However, garnishing of wages cannot happen unless your employer notifies you.  In a judgement decree, to be able to garnish wages, employers are required to file additional information about your wages, including pay dates and balances so that the judgement can be completed.  In this document, they are required to send to you their answers to the questions, along with the original judgement decrees.

So, as someone who has gone through that process before, if your employer or the state do not have your address, the only thing I can ask is, "Who are you hiding from that no one has a current address?"

Received a call for an Oprah Johnson....seriously....like we don't know that is an alias. Anyway, ext 213 was Jeremy who requested my name, phone number, and social security.  NO chance in hedouble hockey sticks I'm leaving that on a voice mail, or giving it to anyone. Besides, no Oprah Johnson at this number. Dialing for creditors with a similar last name...try something new.

depending upon the state. A company can have you garnished without even going to court if it is a legitamate bill. Depending upon your employer you may only have about a 2 week prior notice that your check is going to be garnished when a copy of the garnishment papers are sent to you via your employer and by then it is too late. So yes you can be garnished without an actual court appearance.

I like to see your credit report KAY to see if you always pay on time or at all. Must not if you are on this forum. You would have had to find it by searching the phone number that this discussion is about. so you call it theft. I don't agree with that. At time people will right a check on Thursday knowing that the money is in the bank and it is not showing until tomorrow. based upon the time the bank gets the deposit. But banks too will play the game. I have had bills set up on automatic withdrawal and I had a bank process the withdrawals before processing my paycheck there by causing overdraft charges. It how they make money. needless to say I am no longer at that bank and I no longer set up automatic bill pay.
