I rec'd an automated voicemail message this evening asking me to call a different 866 number (866-840-4148) and I was supposed to enter a code to get another automated message that was asking for additional auto insurance information.  Instead of leaving info, I contacted progressive and they did not need any additional information from me -- this is a scam!!

These robo-calls are legitimately from Progressive but they sound sketchy as hell when you receive them.  I ended up just hanging up and calling Progressive directly from the # listed on their website, and they confirmed the robo calls are from a 3rd party they have contracted with.  I told the customer rep they really need to do a better job with them and she said she gets complaints like that a LOT from Progressive customers.

So long story short - its a real call from Progressive, its just done in a really unprofessional manner.

Called me 3x today - third time they left a robo-message stating it was Progressive asking me to return the call.  I am insured w/ Progressive but mama didn't raise no fool, so I contacted Progressive and they said that they didn't need any information from me and didn't call.  When in doubt, don't say anything.

Scam. They left a voicemail and message number to enter when I called back. Called back their number and said I had a pending balance and I should pay it now before my insurance policy cancels. NOPE!!! I called Progressive's official number and the representative said there was no pending balance and everything was good. LONG STORY SHORT: DON'T FALL FOR THIS SCAM.

This is a legit call from Progressive. They needed to update my drivers license number since I've moved states. I called Progressive number on the website and took care of it. Legit call

Keep in mind, just because a number is legit, doesn't mean the caller is!

Scammers spoof legitimate numbers to trick people into a false sense of security to answer their calls and attempt to get money or personal information from you.
This is why no one will encourage others to report of legitimate numbers, as they only confuse people into believing it is a legit call when a scammer has called them and they come here to find out about the call.

If it is a legitimate call, then anyone receiving a call would know WHY they got a call from this number, right?
So what would be a reason to come and post about it to a site designed to share information about UNKNOWN callers, such as Telemarketers, Scammers and Debt Collectors?

If your call was legit,  telling about it won't  be any comfort to those who may get a spoofed call from some scammer!

I just got this call and also called Progressive directly, and they said they had no record that they had called me, and that this number is a scam! Good thing you were smart, and it's quite a coincidence that you actually did need to update your driver's license.

This number left a voicemail saying that I had a message waiting for me from progressive and to call back and give them the call number which was a handful of numbers. I called progressive instead and was told they did not have any record of them calling me. Don't trust this number. If they call you requesting stuff call the progressive number you know and give it to them if they really need it.

it is definitely a SCAM!!!! it leaves me a voice message. it claims to be progressive and ask me to call back 866 840 4148  They even get my name on file and give me a code to retrieve my message!!! They really look real and professional !. I call progressive from my account to ask and verify those suspended numbers. Progressive said they don't have those two numbers in their systems. So if you received phone call from those two numbers, Please just block them!!! never call back!!! never give them your personal info!!!

Just received this call. Didn't recognize number, didn't pick up, no message.

I checked online and NOTHING says call valid. NO Confirmation of online account confirms that this is Progressive as a call record was NOT in my account immediately after the call.

It isn't!! I just contacted Progressive about it. Anyone who calls and asks for driver's license info over the phone is suspicious. Always double-check before giving out this info!! It's a fraudulent call.

NOPE!! I just contacted Progressive to ask why they would want me to give my driver's license info over the phone. They didn't. They would send a letter and/or an email and ask you to safely log into your account to update. Never believe anyone who would ask for this info by phone!! Totally a scam.

SCAM!! Claimed to be Porgressive asking me to give my driver's license info over the phone. I immediately contacted Progressive and it definitely was not them. They would always send a letter or email asking you to safely log in to your account to update info. NEVER give this type of personal info over the phone before verifying! SCARY!

Phishing attempt. Claimed to be Progressive insurance.

This is validly Progressive. I returned the call and they have good reason to have done this because they had incorrect information on my policy. The callout is done when policy state and drivers license state don't match, which I hadn't updated my policy with my new license for.

They have called repeatedly and finally left a message stating they are Progressive and gave instructions to call with a code to retrieve an important message. I did not call. I checked my account and there’s nothing there so this is definitely an illegitimate call. Beware.

I called Progressive  directly with the number on their app and asked them why they were calling me and they had nothing on record that they needed from me or that they had called.  I’d say it’s a phishing call.

Robo call stating they were from Progressive. Progressive doesn't do robo/automated calls. THIS IS A PHISHING SCAM.
