- Nicole replies to Ronin| 5 repliesOK, so I'm getting magizines from this company, National Magizine Exchange, what should I do now? How do I cancel or protect my credit?
Help!!
There is a website I've been to it's VERY basic!!
I used my check card not a credit card.
The magizines are coming. I tried to call and cancel after the fact and she told me it was too late but if I made one last payment of ONLY $15 it was a done deal?
What did I get myself into? - SandeG & M Research Services, sent a (scam) real check issued through US Bank for $3,940.00. This was for being an employee of theirs as a 'Mystery Shopper'. I was instructed to call 1-250-889-1248, which I did, got a voicemail of a Brent Stevens. Then I sent a fax for more info, fax didn't answer. That was Friday. On Monday, I got the voicemail again, tried the fax and it went through. The name on that fax machine was owned by a Sergio Phillips. I researched the company and names and these guys live in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The address on the company letterhead was: P.O. Box 7895, New York, NY 10040. Took the check to Bank of America, they said if it didn't clear, I was responsible for any charges. Fortunately there is a US Bank in town, they verified it was a scam. If I would have deposited it, and transfered the $3,130.00 by Western Union, they'd get the money, and I would have had to pay all of it back to the bank. Be careful!!!

- Helen2340I did not receive a call but received the so-called check and directions to call 1-800-687-0411 to verify I had won $2.1 million dollars. Luckily, I am a skeptic when something sounds too good to be true AND I have the internet and GOOGLE. I always thought the postal service was interested in fraud through the mail system. I plan to see if they really are.
- ChelseaThis same company has been after me for 6 years, tracking me down from Indiana, to Texas, and now in Arizona. Do not get involved with these scammers. They won't ever give up. I've even gotten married and changed my name, it took them about a year after to find me. But just today, I received that fake check in the mail for 2.1 mil. asking to call that number. Just please don't do it. You'll regret it.

- Nan replies to NicoleI sent this to them this.......
I called to see what your company was about and why you had my information when I had not given it to you. After being given my own information back to me, I asked how it was obtained, I was given a story and transferred. I then called the number to have my info removed, I entered the same number that not more than 5 minutes before allowed one of your employee’s to tell me all my information. Your automation did Not recognize my number (but had before). After trying three times I was connected with a worker who also entered the number and could not find me. I explained (rather nicely I might add) that your company was able to get my info in seconds before, he was rude, disrespectful, and condescending. Once he finally put me on hold, I uttered under my breath “what an ass”, he immediately came back on the phone and asked what I said. So I told him. He then began saying “if your going to keep swearing at me like that” etc… I told him I did not swear at him, I was supposedly on hold and I would not have said it if it were not true. His treatment of me warranted much worse than “ass”. I hung up. Needless to say, I am not removed like I wanted to be. I heard about a possible class action law suit against your company, just mad enough with my treatment to look into joining. Please check your employee’s behavior.
Anyone else find it odd that they were able to get the info so quickly when they thought they had you, but were unable to find your info when you wanted out? - LB replies to NicoleI just got one of these stupid things in the mail today. They go in the garbage.
Using bank cards or check cards I believe are worse than using credit cards. With a credit card you can report fraud and they will not charge you and the cc company will issue a new card. Your bank or check cards come directly out of your bank account. I believe it is harder to dispute a fraud charge. I always use the credit card. It is safer; at least I think it is. - LBIf you haven't already you may want to register your phone number on the no call registry. It works. I rarely get unsolicited calls anymore and when I do I tell them I am on the no call registry and they immediately hang up.
- LBTo answer the person who said it was probably a foreign company. I believe we are the only country with 800 and 866 #s or rather toll fee US #s. I know someone overseas cannot call an 800 number over here.
- MeloI believe we're all talking about this (I scanned mine):

yeah, i was about to call them just to see, but decided to look it up first in fear that it is a scam like i thought, and they'd get my house number and call me all the time.
so i'm not gonna call and i'm freaked out that they have any information on me since the only magazine subscription i have is vogue that i order through vogue not some 3d party weirdness.- Caller: NME Prize Disbursement

- Southern California resident replies to RoninI just received a mailer informing me that I was part of a $2,100,000.00 Sweepstakes ID. The name on the mailer was NME Prize Disbursement, and the phone number was 1-800-687-9411. I decided to research the company before calling and found these messages. Needless to say, I trashed the mailer, and recommend you do so, too.
