I've been calls (avg 3 per day) for the last week from 866-877-9835.  Recordings have been left saying this is from BB&T and to return the call using a CODE #.  It is so-o-o aggravating to get these calls every day, but I refuse to answer my phone. Sirius Radio & this scam BB&T are wasting a lot of airtime calling my number, because I AM NOT ANSWERING MY PHONE!!!!!

We've received two calls from these folks today claiming to be BB&T.  They had information about the names on our account, and then wanted the last 4 numbers of my social security #.  No way.  

We are, in fact, current customers of BB&T and do have a loan with them.  A loan, that is up to date and has never had missed payments.  

When I tried to contact BB&T, there was never a way to reach a person, the online site doesn't take you to a general fraud site (only credit card or online banking fraud), and there is no help screen for reporting organizations that using their client list falsely.  After messing around with the BB&T website and automated answering machine for almost an hour ... I got the real message:  they just don't want to know.

Like others, I reported this to the police and they said - without investigating it at this point - they didn't know whether this was a scam or legit; but that it had aspects similar to many scams that have resulted from hacked data.

Soooo...I too got an automated call from "BB&T" with an extension number. I returned the call and the automated msg requested that I input "the phone number that BB&T left the message on"...I responded and there was a lot of clicking sounds and THEN it said that I had entered the wrong number! REALLY???? I, like a fool, thought that PERHAPS I might have hit an incorrect key and proceeded AGAIN to put in the "CORRECTED" #!! Again, the reply stated it was an incorrect # and I....still the fooool...actually checked to see if I had lost MY marbles and forgotten my home phone #!!! Wellll...needless to say...when the lights and sirens FINALLY went on (in my brain)....it was TOO late! I gave them ALL the info they needed...for WHAT?!?...THAT remains a mystery for NOW! I'm sure there will be MORE to THIS sad tale!!

Received call on answering machine to call back - important information. Tried to call back  many times and received a busy signal.  They left a reference number.  Apparently a scam since no one responded and there was a constant busy signal.

I recieve a call from this telephone number on a daily basis. It is not legitimate.

This is not BB&T Bank. This is a scam. I called BB&T and they said it was not thier number. I gave it to my Sheriff's Office who I work for as a Deputy and they said they will look in to it.

I get this call several times and I do not answer.  I wish they would quit calling me.

This is a collection company for BBT and they are so stupid, I overpaid my mortgaeg, asked them to credit me back for one payment, but instead they set the date back 2 months and now I am getting collection calls, Such crap.

It is BB&T Bank, I'm sure outsourced to some outside collections agency.  They were calling me to inform me about a payment they have not received.  If the actual branch would empty their depository box on the side of the building and process what's in there, they would have found my payment...!!! grrrrr.

repeated phone calls from the number above; leaves voicemails stating they are from BB&T bank.  Call begin as early as 6:30 am and continue past 9:00 pm.  I have read posts about receiving phone calls from this number and I need to know how to report this.  Please advise.

I received an automated call saying this was BB&T and it prompted me to enter my SS#.  I thought it was a scam at first until I called the bank.  I discovered that the bank had allocated my car payment to my mortgage in error.  They corrected the error; however, I would not enter my SS# over a automated service.

Same here. They call atleast 3 times daily, even on the weekends. Whenever we see unknown on our caloler id, we don't answer.

I am a BB&T relationship banker, and I just verified that this is a valid number.  They verify your name and ask for the last four digits of your social (never full social).  Once verified, you are transferred to an associate.  That being said, if you are uncomfortable you may always call your local branch.

The most annoying people.   I have not picked up when they call and since reading the posts, I am glad I have not.  If this is not BB&T Bank why don't they put a stop  to this scam.

These guys are NOT BB&T. They are up to no good. It is scary, but they have my cell # and full name. I called BB&T today to see if this was their phone # and they verified that it was not. They are going to try to investigate it and get the # shut down. When you call the # back, they have recorded BB&Ts opening phone message, but it is crackly like you're calling a cell phone with bad reception (could be bouncing to far away countries, who friggen knows),. Just know that BB&T isn't going to call you for YOUR information under any circumstances. If you do business with them, they have all of that. A normal person with common sense wouldn't give up their personal information over the phone anyway, right? When I called this # back, I called from another phone. They had the opening BB&T message, then "If you are such and such, hit #1" and whatever else it said. I just held on and didn't press anything. I waited to see how long the phone system would tolerate me sitting on the line. After it repeated asking me to hit #1, a lady finally came on the line and IDed herself and said she was with BB&T. Just know that this # IS NOT AN OFFICIAL BB&T #. Don't give them any of your information over the phone!!

Recorded message ask for ______,if this is you press 1, if this is______press 2.  I pressed 2 and the recording ask for my last four numbers of my Social Security Number.  I hung up.  This number calls several times per day.

Received two automated calls, supposedly from BB&T, requesting last 4 digits of SS# for an important message. I didn't bite.
