This IS a SCAM!  I called BB&T and was told this is NOT them.  This number is listed on some of the local police dept.  Please BEWARE!  Anyone on this board that says it's not a scam is part of the scam!

Said BBT we never pick up from numbers  we don't know.

I think this is fake. BBT bank calling but no message but I heard them talking "sales" in the background when I listened to the message

I have no idea why you all think that this number is a scam......I know for sure that it is BB&T. They are calling you because you may be late on a payment or there may be a problem with your account.....I just called BB&T directly and confirmed it was their number.....BB&T direct number is 800-727-8220

This is fake we have no accts with BBT so there is no reason for them to be calling us!

This number calld 5 times today.  Its always on the "8".  10:08,11:38, 4:08, 5:38, 7:08...must be automatic dialing.

I'm glad I didn't fully believe what was said here. This was not a scam and it probably was BB&T calling me. For some reason, they processed my auto payment as all principal, so it didn't show as being paid that month. I didn't respond to this number, but called the number on my bill and resolved the issue. If you are getting a call from this number, you should call BB&T!

This number has called my cell phone several times, as well as my husband's cell phone. When it finally left a message, it claimed to be BB&T calling for both of us, asked me to call back, and gave a reference number. The voice sounded computer simulated. I believe this is a scam, because it was not a live person, and they didn't give a specific reason for calling.

These jerks,have been calling me four or five times a day for weeks. I would hit the option that there was no one here by the names they were requesting but they just kept calling. I read these comments below and just would not answer,  but four or five times a day the calls kept coming.Ended up calling BB&T corperate headquarters in Winston Salem> It Is one of their numbers.Collections. They still continued to call. I work at night and I am truly PISSED. I pretended to be one of the people they were asking for and then hit 000000000 til I could speak to two people to chew  them out. Because of the comments and them asking for part of the SS#< I called the scam  hotline for the attorney generals office Worthless. BB&T knows they are annoying innocent people. I was told they know that It is widely considered a scam. They just do not care and the line operators were completely unapologetic.Call corperate and complain, they deserve to be as needlessly annoyed as what they do to others Our time is as valuable as theirs

This number belongs to BB&T - it is a collections number.  However, if your car payment is late by as little as 2 days, you will start getting calls.  Wish I had the money to pay off my car because this is a most annoying practice, especially since I've had the car for over 1-1/2 years and never been late once.  Just had some extra expenses this time, and cannot make the payment for 2 more days.  I will NEVER do business again with BB&T after this!  Two days ... really people!

download MRNUMBER. it allows you to see who is calling and asks you if you want to block a number if they have already been made aware it is a scam. you can manually block any number from calling or texting you. you can opt to send the call to voicemail or hang up. when a blocked number tries to call you, you will hear a half-ring and see "mr number blocked a call"

Getting multiple calls a day. Hang ups on my voicemail. After reading this, assuming definite scam.

They call me nonstop and tell me they have important information about my bank account bb&t and I don't even have a bb&t account!

This is a real BB&T number. If you have multiple types of accounts, loans, savings, checking, this number is to advise you of loan needing attention. You do not have to enter anything on this call, you can call the 800 number on the back ot your BB&T card and anyone of the representatives would be able to assist you. I have a loan and thought my wife paid, they called through this number to advise. REAL BB&T NUMBER AND SERVICE!

No one on-line then voice recoding saying don't hang up If you are ....press and so on.
Never listens to stop calling but continues.  It is never ending. What is the best avenue to stop this?

Got a call from this number last night, was a computer generated message and asked for me specifically, said it was BB&T and was not a sales call, but gave no call back number. I called this number this morning and they asked for my SSN, I hung up. After calling BB&T this morning on one of their legitimate numbers, they said there was no number like the one on my caller ID that they would use.

Calls constantly leaves message to person I have never heard of saying they are BB&T.
I went down to BB&T Bank and was told they could look up name and take my number off
but when they checked I was told that they had no one with that name.
