Current list of companies that this CCS company seems to get its information from:

Farmers, Nationwide, Titans, AT&T, Progressive, Allstate, Alltel

I don't know if these companies have public records or what, but I'm more inclined to believe this is a very thoroughly researched scam, and they probably get to people who work within these companies in order to get information. My money's on the rats being in Billing and Payment divisions or whatever name it goes by in each company.

Thanks guys for listing companies they claim you have debt with. We have to work together to make sure we can clarify what's a scam and what's real. Always remember to check in with the company if you're worried, or intend to file a complaint/lawsuit.

Also,on a personal note, I've received but one call in the past week since my first one. Thankfully I've yet to receive the quantity of harassment other people speak of. I did have a spout of calls on my home phone on the same day and the day before I received and answered the call on my cell-phone, so perhaps it was them. Fortunately my phone was broken and unable to be answered, yet could still ring and receive messages. It seems like ignoring and tolerating the annoying persistence is the best answer, as they've stopped calling my home phone altogether.

Seeing as our mostly concurrent evidence that this is a scam, don't be afraid to be a nuisance towards them. They're one to you, anyway. Tell them you already asked the company they "represent" and they said you didn't owe anything, and then when they get rude and snippy, criticize them on their behavior and how it's not helpful to their scamming. Oh, try threatening legal action, and tell them that their contribution to the scam, even if they're just hired work, is still accessory to fraud. I have no idea if that's even how it works, but try to play off of people's naivety.

Yep I got a letter, I called said I owed Farmer's Ins.  $25.00.  I stated I never lived where ever they asked me if I did.  They claimed they would note it. Now the calls start.  I looked at website and says Farmer's.  Now in the past hour my phone has rang 30 times.  I answer and no one there.  Sucks I don't have caller id on that phone.

    Received letters from CREDIT COLLECTION AGENCY - I TRIED TO CALL THEIR NUMBERS 1-800-345-7501. It's the same answering machine heard when calling these numbers, 1-866-945-4973. ADVISED : Donot provide personal your  information. You might be victimized. Thank you.

they called me today on my cell asked if I knew a (.....) my girlfriend. the automated voice said I pressed 4 saying I dont know this person then it transfers you to a rep, I hung up!

this outfit "CCS" has called my cell 5 times and left voice msgs even tho the outggoing VM says not to! i called an told some [***] to take of their system but have recieved 2 calls since. called again today and a polite latino guy said it would be removed. of course that was after i threatened to contact the WA AG and possibly to sue CCS. we'll see.....

I keep getting calls for ex-husbands last wife and other names ending in {ROYBAL-ISHMAEL} quit calling me, and how the heck did they get # and new name????

This company wants my 80 year old father to pay 67.00 for cancelling
his auto insurance with allstate when we took his keys
because he was no longer able to drive. Crazy!!

This is very interesting:  apparently the company has received a Cease and Desist Order from the State of Connecticut.  The State has revoked their license to do business in Connecticut.  This includes making calls into Connecticut phone numbers.  If they continue to operate in that state, they're subject to state and federal charges.

I wonder in how many other states they've been shut down, and continue to ignore the Orders.  Here's the link to the Connecticut Order:

Got a call, they are a collection agency and represent Farmer's Insurance.  They said that I had to mail a copy of my insurance's first page otherwise they would keep calling me.  The representative was not rude but did not give me many details about what "coverage" I supposedly had with Farmer's other than this was for coverage on my house.  They do not have a signed contract on file that the rep could see because I never asked for insurance from Farmer's.  He told me to send info to CCS and gave me address in Minnesota.

Every days several time they call and ask for my phone number or last four digits S/S. Incredible because this NUMBER 1-888 274 0160 is from   Target and they are looking for some people that I don't know. I tell Target but is the same every single day.

holly cow , i thought i was going crazy, i got the call and a file # , and i havent been able to figure out or what the hell its about!!! i'm assuming  after reading all of these letters that it's about a car ins policy that i cancelled.  thanks for all the info

Got a call for a "dept", with a phone numer 866-945-4973 and file number. How do I find out if this is legitimate busines? I don't think we are behind in anything!!

Linda, you either work for these bottom feeders of society or you fell of the cabbage truck last week.  Never pay a collection agency, only the creditor themselves, provided you owe them money in the first place.  To do otherwise is ignorant.  Wake up.

I've recieved about 4 letters from that "CCS" agency claiming that I owe $5,761.51; however, prior to those letters, I recieved letters from Progressive Auto Insurance claiming that I owed them a little over $4K and I'm not under Progressive. The letters stopped from Progressive, but I'm still recieving the letters from "CCS". I called the number yesterday, listened to the automated voice and then eventually talked to a rep over the phone. I asked them specific questions about why I owe such a large sum of money and they told me they couldn't tell me why.
If anyone knows more about this "agency", please inform.

Quest Diagnostics uses them.  I'll be calling Quest tomorrow!  I paid my bill 3 months ago, directly to Quest.  What's interesting is that the "nice lady" at Quest said she would contact their dept collection company, because they were "very aggressive!"  So they know!
