What a bunch of liars. A guy identified himself as Deputy Smalls from the Berrien County Sheriffs Department. I have the message saved. Turns out he is just another scamming loser. Tried to get $250.

My elderly mother recieved a call from this telephone # and they were asking for any of my personal info. My mother knew better and did not divulge. But they did threaten an arrest warrent for me stating i owed a check cashing company $$. She immediately called me with this return # and a 302 ext.#. She said to ask for an inspector Burks. I would love to pay these people a visit with some of my military and real agent friends.

"Burks" just called our business looking for a coworker.  Said he was an investigator.  When I told him that personal calls were not allowed, he demanded he speak to our HR.  I put him on hold for a minute and he hung up.  Very rude to me, but rules are rules and he can't harrass anyone he wants over the phone.

I have received multiple calls from this number.  I filed bankruptsy this past year and was finalized beggining of April, by end of April I started receiving phone calls, actually giving me a file number and to return phone call.  I informed them I had filed and they were very rude and actually told me I was still responsible for paying the debt, I even gave them my lawyers information and they told me it was not their job to contact my lawyer that it was MY job.  After their rudeness I turned on them and the guy I spoke to told me this was no joke and I needed to take care of my stupidness.  I hung up, 2 days later they called and this time it was an investigator and said there was an arrest warrant out for me, I told them I was home and they can come get me.  I called my lawyer nd informed me that they were scammers, they stopped calling but a month later the phone calls have started again.  Why can nothing be done with these low lifes.  I am in process of filing complaint with the FTC but will they do anything?   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is making it's rounds again. it has become a daily call for over a month. I am sick of it I OWE nothing!

I finally returned their call today to 866-967-0140, caller ID says Kauffman Burnst, 678-894-0621. I tried several times with the call not going thru, once It did I ask, NO I told them I do not have a bank account issue & take my name off their list, I received no comment back, so I hung up & reported it to authorities on the Do Not Call list. We will see if this helps. Everyday including weekends these calls are coming in.

Anyone can tell you what kind of company it is, however, no official agency can locate the company which proves it is operating under shady methods. I'm sure real attorney's will not operate under such illegal tactics....telling someone that a warrant is being issued for their arrest in order to collect is very much illegal...I'm sure attorney's know that. Calling a third party and telling them that a warrant is being issued for someone elese's arrest is illegal and violates the FDCPA on so many levels. Check Fraud by Deception does not vary by state....what varies state to state is the amount of the check before it is considered a felony. And as far as Check Fraud by Deception goes......"In most cases it is simply a matter of a bad debt with impaired security. Actual cases of fraud might arise if the account was closed at the time the loan was made. So the way I see it...you're either the owner, employee, or a poor heart that was scammed into paying an agency who bought an old debt for pennies on the dollar.

I looked up the address....on google maps it is a residential area.

First and foremost....they will not give out their address or fax number because they know everyone will send them validation letters. This is a shady collections operations who probably will not put their info on your credit report but will still try to force you or scare you into giving them money. DO NOT GIVE THEM A DIME!

i received numorous calls from this third party collector, my lawer said ask for the debt in writing and they wouldn't so he told me its a scam then, they can't even pronounce my name right in the voice mails, You CAN NOT BE ARRESTED!

My mom just recieved a call from this number looking for me saying they have a warrant out for my arrest for chk fraud and some other stuff, she called me and told me to call them. When I called the number I spoke with a Mr. Harvey and he started telling a bunch of bull [***] when I told him to send me some kind of papers he got mad and hung up. He called my mother back and told her I was going to jail and she should just pay the loan for me. So she gave him her credit card number and all her infomation, he said he can put her name on the loan and she just pay for me. Now my mother is 72 years old and does not know what she just did. What should I do because I still do not have proof I took out any loan and can he do that take someone else information and add it on the paper work.....Someone please HELP ASAP...I need to know if I need to get a lawyer....Thanks so much

I received a call from 1-866-967-0140. It was a woman who identified herself as "Invesigator Burks".
Without confirming who I even was she went ahead and told me I was under investigation for "writing checks with malicious intent" and I would be arrested if I did not call back the 866 number to resolve the matter.

The called ID came up as Atlanta, GA: 678-894-0563.

These scammers are currently under investigation by the FBI. You can post a complaint here, like I have just done. It's one thing to harass me at my home number, but calling me at my job is WAY crossing the line (and also against the law).

I was called by these [***] last week saying that I had a complaint filed against me for check fraud in the amount of $1000 by an idiot by the name of Investagator Good.  I told the guy that it's a mistake that he's calling me because I have never wrote a check in my life.  So then I asked him for his mailing address and company info. Which he then became rude and hung up on me.  I get to work that evening the dude had then call my place of business left a message for me stating if I don't return his call within 72 hrs there will be a warrant out for my arrest.  [***]

I got a call from my sister and she said some lady call me from kaufman bernstin and aassociates and told her I had 24hours to get back in touch with them are there will be a warrant out for my arrested if I did not pay them $591.00 so I called them the next day and they said for me to pay them the money throw money gram or my debit are credit card, so I ask them what was there address and she did not give it to me and I said this is a scam and, I call the BBB and they could not find them no were so I gave them there # 866-967-0140 and when I got off the phone with the BBB they call me from a different number and it was 678-648-7586 and I said don,t call me ever no more and I reported them to BBB so over one that gets them calls please report them they are a scam to get your money. I been scam be for in the past and I was so hurt but I no better now. be advised they have lots of numbers they call from out of GA and maybe FL as well ever body take care and be very carefull and don,t tell the nothing about your self I mean nothing they just wont your money big big scam my god be with you all take care... this is sad trust me them people need god really.

We have had our phone number for 25 years and they call to get money from somebody never associated with this address or phone number.

Log into the Better Business Bureau for Atlanta area and post a formal complaint. Also, send them a note letting them know formally to stop calling you. I am looking for more agressive ways to get these people prosecuted.

They also use the number 678-894-0621. I show others saying it is a cell phone. I will be calling the cell phone provider to see if they are using it as a valid business number (business account at higher rate) and if so if they have any help to offer. The two numbers I have are 866-967-0140 and the 678-894-0621 numbers.

They called our office saying a Patrick Young (whom we've never heard of) was accused of check fraud and it was a very serious matter, a violation of law, blah blah blah.  When I called Investigator Knight back to explain that no such person was here she was extremely rude, telling me to "hold on"  as I was trying to explain.  Then I looked up the name of the company and saw all these posts about the frauds this company was committing.  No wonder she was rude, she knew she wasn't getting anything out of us.
