- John SI've only had my phone number 2 months and have never made a call to anyone or given my number to anyone. Is for emergency use only; as such, I am afraid to answer any incoming calls because I know they are not intended for me. Have received several calls from this number and now have added it to auto-reject list.
- Gregory Sprimont866-991-7360 keeps calling my number then hold music then they hang up 3 times this week.
- MaryCalls everyday at the same time and plays hold music.
- Gnat| 2 repliesA woman answered after calling me. It's Saturday so I thought it odd. When she asked to speak to me she said it pertained to a personal business matter and needed my address and D.O.B. I asked what business matter she said she couldn't tell me without me giving her my information. When i said I was uncomfortable giving my information when "business matter" sounded odd. She hung up after saying okay.
- BigA replies to Gnat| 1 replyThis appears to be a debt collector. They would need to verify who they are talking to, but they should have told you who they were. In any case, they must do this now:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
You should immediately send them the following:
You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation or cease and desist calling letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested). Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it. Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it. Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front): http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

- MikeHuntleton replies to Really Now456Keep in mind, just because the number is legit, doesn't mean the caller is!
Scammers spoof legitimate numbers to trick people into a false sense of security to answer their calls and attempt to get money or personal information from you.
This is why no one will encourage others to report of legitimate numbers, as they only confuse people into believing it is a legit call when a scammer has called them and they come here to find out about the call. - AnoyomousDo not call

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

- NicoleThis number has been calling me. Finally answered today. A man said "shine very important personal information has just come across my desk in Sarasota, FL. I need you to confirm your DOB, last 4 digits of your ss#, or your address". I said "what personal business is this for? " He was like, "I can't tell you until you confirm for your own personal protection " So, I was like, "Well, if you can't tell me what this is for then I am not giving you any of my personal info" He said "I understand that you don't want to share your personal information, have a nice day"
