- Phoenix replies to deleted postThis is incorrect. You do not lose the right if you ignore a summons or never receive one in the mail. If a default judgement is entered against you, you have the right to appeal in. See "Notice to Set Aside Default Judgement". You have only 21 days in most states to do so after the judgment is entered to do so. Otherwise, it will become permanent and the process for Garnishment can begin. For that, they must STILL go thru another court case and you need to be notified of this too.
- Not a foolOk guys I know these people I know the manager. and owner. here is the deal it absolutely is not a law firm they don't take anybody, never ever ever to court there are no attorneys there.. THey are a bunch of 100% commission low skilled trash people who have been trained to lie and bully to get you do not pay..they eventually close it out and sell it to another agency.. collection agencies for payday loans classify the debts.. if they have been worked they sell them off.. None of them will sue you they can't the amounts are too small and they don't have the staff and time. Next time they call.. Hang up don't believe " Paige" or any of the others . there is no supeona, no fraud, no attorneys and no legal action .. they will go away.. they get paid commission and have to make so much a day on this before they get paid.. They are lying when they say they are paralegals.. none have college diplomas and many are highschool drop outs.. I know this for a fact.. this is nothing more than " bully collections"
I believe you should pay but tell them.. i only have xx and no matter what they say.. only pay what you can. They will not do a thing to you..- Caller: 877-202-5736

- Not sureI got a call from this number as well and they couldn't tell me who they were collecting for. So i did some research. The amount they said i owed sounded familar because I did owe that amount from a pay day loan I took out a year ago and didnt finish paying. I called the original loan place, who said they sent my file to their coorporate office and gave me their number. I called the corporate office and they said they sent my case to National Attorney collection service and gave me the number 877-224-5572. A little different than the one that called me. So I called the number and asked for the lady who called me earlier, Teresa Moore. And sure enough she did work their. I hung up when they were transfering me.
I do believe the are a legit collection place but I havent been harrassed or been rude to. If they are doing that to others than they need to turned in for harrassment.- Call type: Debt collector

- Noel replies to Stephanie| 1 replyI had the exact same thing. I thought..if this was a legit place, they wouldn't send a text..what attorney would do that!?! If this is legit, is this their way of informing you in writing because how can they guarantee that you have texting capabilities. I can't even remember if I have a pay day loan...if I do it has to be at least 2 or 3 years ago because I haven't used them since. Shouldn't you get something int he mail or calls from the payday loan facility to collect the money before it's been 2 or 3 years? After reading all these posts, I honestly don't know what to do, I don't know if I should call them back or the last place I would have taken out a pay day loan and see what they say...??

- AnnoyedSame company called me twice this month, Karen Watson is the name of the rep. She claims to have my file and that it is a legal matter that needs to be addressed with me ASAP. I got a similar call from a similar company a couple of years ago and as it turned out, they simply googled my name, which happenes to be shared by hunders of people out there, which is how they got my number. The person they were looking for lived in a different city and wrote a bad back to a check cashing place, which is somewhere I've never been to. They claimed they had all the correct information and that it was me. They were rude and obnoxious. So, I did my own research and contacted the specific bank institution that they claim returned the check, which I somehow majically wrote and received a payroll advance for. BTW - I did not have an account with this Bank nor have I ever done personal business with them. I eventually called back and told them I researched their claims and found it to be unsubstantial for obvious reasons and advised them to refrain from calling me and to hire better investigators in order to get in touch with the correct indidiviuals. And, if they continue to harrass me, I would have no problem spending my own money to track them down and file a lawsuit against them for harassment and whatever I can throw in there to prove my point. I never heard from them again until now. I know that I probably didn't have to spend the time to look into it myself but it just bothered me so much that I had to do something. Now after that experience and with the new calls that I received once again... I am waiting for this person to actually get a hold of me so I can share my thoughts and mess with her mind (just for kicks)...

- JC replies to KMRI Received a text from this number, regarding a important legal manner, then a voice mail. I did not respond because I do not owe any one, I am a paralegal and I looked the company up and came up with nothing, no information in the event that I did owe some one and it may have slipped my Mind. A reputable collection company will notify you in writing of a debt that you owe, they will not contact you by phone and demand that you pay the debt over the phone. I have reported this to the Better Business and also to th attorney General. Also, some one just mentioned to me to check into TCPA ( Violation of Consumer Protection Act) which is a violation of collectors for calling your cell phone.
- matthewI got calls from this number twice. Once they asked to have get my brother to call them. Another time, they called to ask me to get my old roommate to call them. These are separate cases. The message says there is a legal matter so they need to call back. They always leave an extension, which is supposed to make people get all worked up. Only "real offices" use extensions right?
Where are these creeps getting my number? And if they have my number, they probably have their numbers too. Are they trying to trick family members into thinking their loved ones are in serious legal trouble? Never believe politicians and never believe strangers either.- Caller: "National Attorney"

- Nobody's FoolI'm a former debt collector for an attorney's office & their is something called the FDCPA (fair debt collection practices act). A collection agency (a reputable anyway) will notify you in writing of a debt they have obtained under your name. You then have 30 days to dispute the validity of the supposed debt (VOD, verification of debt). The agency then has 30 days to furnish you, the consumer w/ said debt. If they do not, then that agency CANNOT attempt to collect. They are then forced to sell it to yet another agency. The more a debt gets passed along, the harder it is to collect on!!! I have received text messages from 310-661-1314, 818-572-5306 & 302-360-8272 about an "urgent legal matter" as well as a voice mail from 877-202-5736 indicating the same. The voicemail was from a woman named Angelina Straughter. When I called 877-202-5736 a male voice identified the company as NACS, I then found Angelina Straughter in the directory but of course the automated recording just loops, nobody ever picked up.

- MichelleI received a message from Mr. Shepherd claiming I owe $$$ for a CNG that was a long time ago. I have been dealing w/ these type of people for a while now,... I tell them I think there busy is fradulant and not to call..they still do, but at least there claim is illegitimate. DO NOT PAY THEM...according to CNG any credit agency that claims they have your file, has to have the original paperwork you signed or a copy of it...Plus, do your own research...ask them to give you the original creditors name....then call them, they will let you know, who your loan was sold off to...keep going til you find out who actually has your loan. More than likely, it will not be National Attorney, Mr. Shepherd...877-202-5736 x 254...

A relative used a cash n go? kind of company and used family members as references and now they won't leave the family members in peace. This should be illegal. - MJSI keep receiving text message from another number (213-245-4774) for someone I do not know advising me to call this number for an urgent matter. I have called them twice and told them I have no idea who the guy is they are trying to reach and they have told me they were taking my phone number off the list, yet I continue to receive text messages.
Can I take any legal action against them?- Caller: National Attorney Services
- AdviceCollection companies can not just garnish your wages and can not legally harass you at work either.
Do not pay them, contact your debtor and make arrangements, they will typically settle for a lower amount.
Last option: don't pay anything. It will disappear from your credit file in 6 years.
If you owe a gym, don't pay!
Any blemish to your credit for a gym will be ignored by lenders as they all know gyms are a scam!

- Christy replies to boo booIf you set up payment arrangements with this company and use a debit card, they will automatically run your next payment on that card, even if you didn't authorize it. I called to make my next payment and they had already ran a payment for the full amount due. Crooked people didn't even stick with the payment arrangements. Only good thing for me is it is already paid. Don't have deal with [***] anymore.

- st| 4 repliesI got a call from a Mrs. Wolford stating that I owe 800 bucks from a payday loan with Check Smart. I explained to her that I actually am recieving a check in the mail anyday and was planning on paying this off anyways. She said that I had to pay this in the next two days or they will be proceeding with filing my case through court and I will have another 1500 dollars in fees. etc etc. I found this strange that she couldn't wait until next week for a payment (as the check I have coming will take a few days to clear) and she asked me to call around and ask relatives for money to borrow. This sounds like just a collection agency, but with all the legal yada yada it does make me nervous. She also said if I didn't pay this in the next couple days, that she would proceed with getting my wages garnished at my work.
