I just received a call from Lyla Ford about my recently self-published book of fiction (today 11/14/2023) and she wanted $2500 to get my registered with the London Registry for a book fair in March. I googled her name and her company's name (BookWhirl), and I didn't find anything positive except testimonials on their own website. I confronted her, and she didn't seem surprised (no one credible would not be surprised about being accused of wrongdoing if innocent), and she just kept talking to me about how expensive it is to self-market. She told me I was one of 15 books selected from thousands of self-published works of fiction that was on a topic likely to resonate with the selection committee. I was skeptical and declined the offer, but I just found your post while searching to see what else is out there on this person and company.
