- Bernice| 1 reply1/21/12 Rec'd call from an Asian Jen. Told her I was a Nurse Paralegal. She hung up fast.

- vimI received a call Januay 31, 2013 from Jane about "your published book." Soft, hesitant voice, difficult to understand.her last name. The company name was also mumbled. The phone number 877-207-1679 is the same as listed here. I researched, found this site, and treated this call like a telemarketing scam.

- CherylJust received two messages from a Jan something (slurred voice) at this phone number. She wanted to know more about the book I just self published. I couldn't understand her company name either, queried Book World, but see it was BookWhirl.
Now I think I'll just say I'm not interested.
Thanks for all the input.- Caller: Book Whirt ?
- ScotForeign woman with thick accent claiming to be from "bookworld.com" wanted to talk to me about my book. I'm on the Do Not Call List. Pretty easy to file a complaint about her.
- Caller: bookwhirl
- Barbara SI also received a call from 877-207-1679 and they left a voice mail - the line was very crackly and the voice was really far away. The lady's name was Jen and she had a really strong accent that was hard to understand and she mentioned an interest in a book I just wrote. She said she was from bookworld.com and left me her extension number - 33. When I called back, it took about 10 seconds for the number to connect which made me think that it was an international number with a US cell phone number. I have recruiters from India that call me all the time and the number they leave is always a US number, but when I call back, I get the long delay in connecting and I know they are calling from overseas.
- Caller: BookWorld.com
- Michael WilliamsScam (phishing) call.

- Harvey| 1 replyThey are still doing this. I got a blurry-sounding voicemail message about 'your book'.. and she gave the title of a book of mine, and then this number, which was so hard to understand I had to get my wife to replay it on speakerphone so we could decode the number. When we tried to call it, the call would not go through. -- That's because they called me in Ireland! and of course dialling that number from here is nonsense. So I asked my wife to look up the number online, and here we are. We will know, should we be so unfortunate as to pick up on one of those calls, not to say anything.
- Caller: unknown, could not hear
- Harvey replies to BerniceDog Ear is my publisher too.
- 2ndchance replies to Laura| 2 repliesI received a call today saying they were book world and for 1,000.00 they would get my book all over the US in the media. The person calling was foreign but today that means nothing! I do not have called ID so I have no idea what the number was. When I told him I was broke he suggested I go to Kirkus and get a review. Kirkus also charged a fee. How are we to know what to believe anymore?
- Newtopublishing replies to HarveyThanks for all these messages. I too got a call from Mark Morales on my home machine. He wanted to speak to me about my book. He said that he was from what sounded like 'bookworld.com' when a google search turned up nothing I decided to Google the words bookworld.com 877-207-1679 and that brought me to this site. I am so happy that I screen my calls and that I was able to do this search before I called these folks back.
- new2publishing2Jen Daniels called the church I used to work at...so thankful for this site. Named one of my Bible studies.
- Caller: Scam
- Call type: Telemarketer
- API found it bizarre that my home number was called instead of my cell. When it comes to my book, I only use my cell number. Thank God for the internet and my ability to research. I found this site and other people having the same experience. For all of those of you out there, odds are, these f***in j**ka**es will call again. Fixate this number into your mind to remember NOT to pick up.
PS: not sure if this happened to any of you, but after he "claimed" to have hung up, I continued to hear background noise for another minute. Is that a tactic towards their scam? You better believe it is.- Caller: BookWorld or BookWhirl

- LindaS replies to 2ndchance| 1 replyI received a call today from someone claiming to be from "Book World," or was it "Book Whirl" (?) saying they wanted to talk to me about my book. In a slurred voice she said her name was "Jan Daniels," and asked me to call 877-207-1679. So glad I found this site before I called her back!
- Jacques| 1 replyA person named Melissa left a message saying she wanted to talk about a recent book I wrote. I am glad I found this site. The phone number 877 207 1679 does not belong to any company. Stay away!
- Caller: unintelligible
- Pat RuddenJust got a call from them this past week. Checked here first and avoided the nonsense. It would be lovely to get publicity for my three books, but it's not going to be something that comes from some fool making cold calls.
- Glenn replies to JacquesI have a voicemail from "Melissa" asking me to call her at 877-207-1679 ext 323. Wants to talk to me about my novel (which she correctly named). She called my residence number which I never use for my book business.... Said she was with "Socorro" or "Decoro"...not sure of exact name because it was difficult to clearly understand. Checked that number and found further information on this site. Glad I checked first!!!
Beware of these calls. - paul eusticeSame experience. American accent left a message. Sounded like Book World. Also sounded too good to be true so googled the number and found this site. Thanks.
- Caller: Book Whirl
- RobertGot the same call from BookWhirl offering to reprint my book plus publish the 2nd one for $2300.00 and promised me 100% royalty from impending sales. He said they wanted to get the books into the library system as well as to veterans because of its significance about Vietnamese War history. His name was Kyle Andrews and said he was calling from Green Bay, WI, but his accent was Filipino. He wanted me to send him a pdf of my book plus he was ready to send me a contract via E-mail. I told him I wanted to read the contract first before I parted with any money and he said he'd call me back tomorrow. Nice scam, but if it sounds too good to be true, SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!
- Caller: BookWhirl
- Michael TurpinThanks for this email chain, very helpful. Just received same sketchy vm from Kyle Andrews about my recently published book. Its sad that these single cell parasites prey on self published writers eager to expand their readership. Don't bother calling back Kyle, but take heart, with global warming there will be plenty of swampland in Florida to sell...
- Caller: Book World

- CarlaReceived a message on my answering service, claiming interest in my book. He gave his name as Cal Andrews and an ext no# 335 He claimed to be a Senior Consultant for Book World. When I called the number back, it never rung--empty air. And as I was writing this, this person called again, claiming to chose books to 'Market". I told him that I wasn't interested, and that his number led to nowhere. I ended the call.
