It's a legitimate automated number from Bank of America for their debit card fraud protection, however, anybody can fake a legitimate number on the caller id.   So don't accept any call and speak to anyone over the phone.  Just call back the number and follow their prompts.

They also contact you via TEXT MESSAGE Alert.

Received text from 354-22 stating that Bank of America (BoA) has temporarily limited the use of my Debt card due to irregular activity and to call them at 1-877-248-6278.

Called BoA from a number provided on their website and spoke to them about my account. No "irregular activity" was flagged on my account and the number as provided in the text message was not one that BoA uses.

    This text is a scam.

Got text from Bofa about irregular activity.  went to Bofa and they found irregular transaction on my account, even if it real for my case, my suggestion is don't call the number on the text, but called number on the back of your bank card or visit Bofa to make sure everything is ok.

Chairman is a idiot or participant in this fraud or both. Only a gullible person would respond to a text message from their bank. Don't fall prey to these vermin. ONLY call the bank by numbers published on the card they provided.

Wow. AJ and Banks are also idiots or participants in this fraud. NEVER respond to text messages allegedly from your bank. If you do you have a smaller brain than chairman, aj or banks and you will be scammed as far as they can scam you. If you are concerned that you have credit or debit card issues, call the number on the credit or debit card . . . NOT the number that was texted to you . . . as the moron cretins chairman, aj and banks suggest.

THIS IS A SCAM. Never call a number regarding your credit or debit card from ANY number other than the number printed on your card. This is NOT a legitimate text. Though, arguably, BofA is guilty of scamming as well.

You MUST be joking. Or, as Katy says, you must be part of the problem or a cretin. What number did you verify with BofA? Because the number that I was sent was bogus.

DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE ON THIS POST THAT SAYS THIS IS LEGIT. THEY ARE EITHER NUTS OR THEY ARE PART OF THE SCAM. What bank sends you a text and says "irregular activity on your card indicates that we should limit your access . . ." and then adds "text STOP to opt out."?

That's nonsense. The only number listed in this post is bogus. And you claim you "verified the number is legit." Ha. What a dope. However, there are so many gullible people I am sure some hairbrained pin head believes you Banks.

Like others here, I received a text message saying that Bank of America has temporarily limited the use of my debit card due to irregular activity and to call 877-248-6278. And like others on here, I was skeptical of receiving a text message from my bank. The first thing I did was to check my B of A account online, and there were indeed two fraudulent charges on the account that were in the "Processing" stage. I then called the telephone number on the back of the debit card (not this telephone number that was given in the text message) and spoke with a fraud representative about the charges. I asked the representative about the text message as well, and she told me that B of A will contact by phone call, text message, and e-mail (and indeed, they contacted me using all three methods...I just happened to see the text message first) for account fraud.

So the text message was legitimate, meaning the phone number in the text message was likely legitimate. But, since it would be very easy to run a text message scam in the same manner, use some common sense and only contact your bank using known, verified telephone numbers (like on the back of your card, or contact numbers listed on the bank's website).

I received a text message from 354-22 and a phone message from 315-724-4022 on 6-27-2013 saying that Bank of America has temporarily limited the use of my debit card due to irregular activity and to call 877-248-6278.
first of all i don't have a bank of america debit card.
i contacted Bank of America by logging in to their website www.bankofamerica.com
i sent them a message informing them about a fraud attempt text message from 354-22 and a phone message from 315-724-4022  saying that Bank of America has temporarily limited the use of my debit card due to irregular activity and to call 877-248-6278.

Bank of America confirmed it was a phishing scam. 315-724-4022  is no longer used by Bank of America
dont trust anything posted here until you contact the bank with a trusted phone # first.
it is a scam. they will try to take all your money and open accounts using your name.
    contact the bank

This is legit -- I received the txt message, then a phone call, then an email from BofA.  Logged on to their online banking system, found the fraudulent transaction, and gave them a call.  Got everything cleared up pretty quick.

I called the regular BOA 1.800.432.1000 and asked to speak to the fraud department. The text was legit - but always call the customer service line if you are concerned first - then give them the number that it stated to call.

This is a legitimate number. I think it's stupid the bank would call from an unlisted number, but I called the number on my card and got through to them.
