I have been recieving calls from this number on my cell phone. Attempts to answer resulted in hang ups. They have called at all hours day and night. My cell number is now on the national do not call register. Cannot complain there until 31 days since I registered.

How can these calls be stopped?

The next time they call, let them know they are violating the TCPA by calling your cell phone without your consent (the souce and reason does not matter), and you intend to take legal action against them if the calls do not stop.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Today is the first day I received a call from this number but, I have only had my number 4 days. I neither know nor care who it is calling but I don't answer
unknown numbers. There is no
message left.If it is for Direct TV as some have indicated, it would be an error since I have had Dish since 1999.
And, they are calling my cell number
which they should not do.
I will block the number if try call again.
If it's important they would leave a message!

I have had my phone and the same phone number since 2009 and I have no accounts and no debts and do not owe anyone anything.  I am 14 years old and in high school and my parents got me my phone when I was in the 2nd grade for safety at school and to be able to call them for any emergency.   These idiots from 1-877-272-9923 now call my number over 50 times per day almost every single day for the last 9 months beginning back in January 2015 and very clearly have the wrong number.  Hello, minor with no debts and no accounts anywhere!   I asked my dad for help and he spoke with them and told them they had the wrong number and were forbidden to call my number and also blocked their number from being able to call my phone but the logs show they still try to call every day anyway plus they don't care what time it is often calling as late as 2 AM in the morning and I have logs showing every call attempt they have tried for the entire year and it is hundreds and hundreds of calls at all hours of the day.  Even though they cannot make my phone ring, due to the good security my dad added, they still use up a minute of my monthly call time allowance each time they call so I got a lot of my phone time stolen from me.  This has to do it this way  the phone works to be able to also block them from accessing my voicemaiI.  Still it is annoying they use up my phone call allowance and won't stop trying to call even though they have the wrong number, calling a minor, and my parents have told them both verbally and in writing they are forbidden to call and yet they still keep trying to call my number illegally.   Someone needs to make these idiots pay.  Someone needs to put these idiots in jail.

Do not call list is generally speaking fairly useless and many of these bad rouge companies actually use the do not call database as numbers in fact to call!   Instead, I would recommend a decent call blocker.  For cell phones, there is many very good blocking apps available.  For home phones, there is blocking services the phone companies offer for nominal prices usually and if you do a bit of research, several companies make a hardware solution where bad calls are physically blocked using a device placed on your line that screens incoming calls

The DNC does not cover collections. Debt Collectors fall under the FDCPA laws.

Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time,date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

No they don't. That is a myth!  And Criminals do not obey laws anyway. And the DNC does not apply to debt collectors. They fall under the FDCPA/FCRA/TCPA laws.

Simply said, the DNC list has to be paid for, they also have to provide their information. Illegal callers don't need to buy lists, they simply plumb in numbers and go to work with dialers and computers.

This is not a legit organization just as others have posted.  Don't waste time or risk your identity
by answering the call.  This scam is going on across the country.  Quiets down in a locality and
then resumes.

Have received several calls from this number but no one ever says anything.

Kept receiving calls from them, finally  i called  back and asked  " who are you? I received  calls from you." She with a strong accent replied " I need you to  give me  your name and number  to pull up your account " FIRST THING TO REMEMBER! ! Never give your personal info to anyone who cant identify who they work for. " A Personal Business Group" was her response . I asked  "Who do you work for?" She said " ok maam, I  need to get  your  information first" debt is no secret, cant tell me who you are,  we don't  need to speak. Upon calling, it should  pop up in the system at least  my number. She wanted to add my information  because they don't have  it! Pay attention  people :) Be safe guys, take care of yourselves
