It says they want to know where I live and if I don't call back they can use any means to track me down???

    Sir Bedevere replies to Barbara
I'd recommend not even answering their calls. Are they really so dumb they could track down your phone number but not know where you live? Of course not. It's pure BS, which indicates they're not on the up-and-up. They may even be scammers from overseas.

I received 2 phone calls from this # today wanting to collect on a loan I supposedly had prior to 2008. I never had this loan. They called my wife and sister-in-law. They had old address and the last 4 of my social. I told them to send me information on the loan but they could not. They told me to google "access processing". I gave them no money or info!

I have had the same thing ... 2 calls in two days looking for someone with my sister-in-laws name.  They never identify what company or organization they are with in any of the messages.

I have received two calls from 877-362-6832 claiming they are trying to reach someone, its cuts out and then announces my sister in law's name but they are calling my cellphone.  When they leave a message they never identify what company they are calling from.   When I called back the company name is VRG.  When I google VRG other scams come up for this company.

The company called my daughter twice looking for me so I called them. They refused to give me any information as to why they are looking for me without me verifying my SSN which I will not do. I got a mailing address for them but, not much else: 5999 S. Park Ave., Hamburg, NY, 14075

! THERE IS AN ALERT ON BOURNVIEW RECOVERY GROUP !
BBB has seen a major increase in collection agencies setting up businesses in the Upstate New York area over the past several years.  In an effort to keep consumers informed about which collection agencies are operating in accordance with Federal Law,  we are asking for specific information from all collection agencies operating in our service area.  The requests includes the following:
    :Federal Employee Identification Number-EIN
:Proof Of Licensing, bonding and or registration by the city, town in which your business is located.
:Proof of licensing required by any state in which you operate by mail or telephone or email.
This collection agency has not responded to our requests.
BBB advises consumers to be aware of their legal rights in regard to collections.  The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act is a statue enacted in 1978 which seeks to eliminate abusive and harassing behavior by any debt or collection agency.  The act states specific practices and rules under which debt collectors must abide by.  There are penalties for agencies found breaking these laws.  Some of these laws state that a collection agency is forbidden to harass a debtor, which includes threatening violence or legal action.  They may not use crude or offensive language or identify themselves as anyone other than by their business name.  If a consumer believes a debt or collection agency has violated any of the FDCPA laws the BBB encourages them to file complaints with the BBB at bbb.org and Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov

Web site gives an address in Western New York, known haven for criminal debt collectors:  http://www.bournviewrecoverygroup.info/contact.html
    BBB gives them a B- with 7 complaints:  http://www.bbb.org/upstate-new-york/business- ... g-ny-235976383/
A search for a business registration under Bournview brings up no results in either Bizapedia or the New York Dept. of State.  This would preclude them from legally conducting business.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
