- Leave me alone!| 2 repliesHave been getting calls daily for the past week. First day it was "I need to verify your address" so I can delever "important Documents"a girl named Jessica left those messages for a few days, 3 times a day-starting at 6am (FTC law broken there)
Second week it was " we have verified your address and will be delivering documents to your work or home please have someone avail to accept" That went on for a few days. 7 or 8 calls a day (again viloating FTC)
Today it was from a John Peterson "we have no choice but to deliver these documents" this is your FINAL warning.
I have been around long enough to know that you certainly don't "warn" someone before serving them documents.
I have also checked all the court websites in my state and nothing is on file (shocker I know).
I am sure its scam. I am not returning their calls. It only aggrivates me. I have no debt at this time. Not sure what they want.
I did find this on a website. I called that number and it is the same voice as the number they gave me to call 866-205-9507.
I will be sending a C and D certified letter today.

- SCAMMAS!!| 2 repliesI received a call from a Clair Jacobs. She told me to call 866-207-2541 regarding an order she received on her desk for a claim against me. Claire called me throughout the day to ask if I had called. She was insanely rude and very aggressive. When they called my boss, I called the 866 number to see what was going on. I spoke to Sarah and she informed me I was being sued by Cornerstone LLC for a payday loan I defaulted on in 2011 for 450 but I now owed 700. She said the funds were deposited into my account and when the company went to my account to get the money due, I had insufficient funds. Sarah then told me I could give them my bank account information or a debit/credit card info. I said no. She asked if I would be willing to get a secured credit card to pay back the money. I told her no and that I wanted to dispute the charges. Sarah could not give me any detailed information on the loan and said the loan was in pre-litigation stages and I could settle without having to go to court. I told her I would dispute and they could send over the paperwork. Needless to say, I have not received any paperwork and the calls have stopped. Claire Jacobs called me several times and would call twice in the same minute. It is insane that people would to these depths to con folks out of their money...get a real job!

! THERE IS AN ALERT ON BOURNVIEW RECOVERY GROUP !
BBB has seen a major increase in collection agencies setting up businesses in the Upstate New York area over the past several years. In an effort to keep consumers informed about which collection agencies are operating in accordance with Federal Law, we are asking for specific information from all collection agencies operating in our service area. The requests includes the following:
:Federal Employee Identification Number-EIN
:Proof Of Licensing, bonding and or registration by the city, town in which your business is located.
:Proof of licensing required by any state in which you operate by mail or telephone or email.
This collection agency has not responded to our requests.
BBB advises consumers to be aware of their legal rights in regard to collections. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act is a statue enacted in 1978 which seeks to eliminate abusive and harassing behavior by any debt or collection agency. The act states specific practices and rules under which debt collectors must abide by. There are penalties for agencies found breaking these laws. Some of these laws state that a collection agency is forbidden to harass a debtor, which includes threatening violence or legal action. They may not use crude or offensive language or identify themselves as anyone other than by their business name. If a consumer believes a debt or collection agency has violated any of the FDCPA laws the BBB encourages them to file complaints with the BBB at bbb.org and Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov

Over the last two days I have received more than 8 calls (back to back to back) from BRG the phone number they leave on my voice mail is 866-821-3124. When you call back they answer BRG and then immediately put you on hold and the keep transferring your call. Today after 4 back to back calls a man by the name of Ed Rose left a voice mail stating "this is my only and final call to you to resolve this matter before a claim is filed" The phone number was blocked... and they referred to me by my maiden name, SO I KNOW THIS IS BS... I haven't used that name in YEARS..... The lady that called yesterday and left a voicemail also said "this is my only and final call to you to resolve this matter before a claim is filed" - she recited by address by phone and said we know where you live.- Caller: BRG
- Gina replies to SCAMMAS!!They said the exact same things to me.
- cari| 1 replythis place called me and very rude wanting to collect a debt said they were going to take me to court if I did not pay. they could not send me any paperwork.
- Caller: brg
- Call type: Debt collector
- CWG40 replies to cariTotal scam. See the other notes.
Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a DIME until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.
If they are bothering you,
Report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them .

Hamburg, NY 14075 - AJ RI got a call from them 2 weeks ago and then last friday and then again today. I reported them already to the FTC website. The woman I spoke to today was rude. I asked her to stop calling me at work and she said that she was allowed to because I signed a contract which i didn't. I asked her to send me a letter regarding my debt and she said she would have someone send me a letter regarding a payment plan. That is not what I asked her to send me. Unfortunaltey I'm sure i'll be hearing back from her.

Web site gives an address in Western New York, known haven for criminal debt collectors: http://www.bournviewrecoverygroup.info/contact.html
BBB gives them a B- with 7 complaints: http://www.bbb.org/upstate-new-york/business- ... g-ny-235976383/
A search for a business registration under Bournview brings up no results in either Bizapedia or the New York Dept. of State. This would preclude them from legally conducting business.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Refused ANY info if I didn't unblock the # I was calling from. Same 3 people answered every time I called and was hung up on repeatedly when trying to ask why they would not comply with the BBB or FDCPA violations.
