We r only a month behind and received the notice. A lady knocked on the door, confirmed our address, posted the manilla envelope which states NSTAR Mortgage 1-877-372-0315 and told my husband that she had to take a picture of our house. I called and gave them our mortgage loan number, my social and confirmed our address and spelling if last name only to be told that the number we called was being transferred to Nationstar Mortgage and they have NO record of our mortgage. I knew that our mortgage was sold in December; thought that maybe this was the debt collection side of the new company. Looks like I was wrong. Don't know what to think now.... Credit bad enough without someone trying to scam me - and now they have most of the tools to do so. Yikes!

I would run away from this company as fast as I possibly could.  Note that it the bank sells your mortgage, they are required by law to send you a letter detailing who they sold it to and how to contact and make the payment.

we paid for the house cash and got two notices the first thing what they want is your social security number you cannot talk to a real person this is frustrating and scaryif it's a legitimate business is an awful way to do business because they are not putting enough information to you for you to do anything but call them and put in your social security number it's got to be a scam

I doubt MF will see your reply since that person posted in 2012, 3 years ago.  Now on the last entry on page 3 of this thread, you will find that I posted a lot of information about this bogus company.

I get them once a month, give or take. I even caught one guy taking pictures of my house with his cell phone. I stopped him to question him and he didn't leave the manila envelope on my door handle. I asked him why he was taking pictures and he said it was for the bank, they want to see if my house is falling apart. He also asked if i was the home owner. I told him no and that my house is not falling apart. I open them up, no bank info on them, just a hand written phone number and to call with my account information ready. Idk if its a foreclosure notice or a late payment notice? Its an 855#

This is not a scam. NationStar is a mortgage servicing company and they leave those notes when you are behind in your mortgage. Please, don't be rude to the people who deliver these notes and take pictures of your property. They are just doing their job and getting paid peanuts for it. They're not bank employees. They're just subcontractors who get paid per property visited all over the city. I had a friend who was down on her luck and this is the only job she could find. She used to tell me how horrible, stressful and dangerous this job was because people would get angry at her and threatened her with physical harm. If you don't have a mortgage and receive one of these, it's probably a mistake made by the person who delivered it. Nothing sinister is going on.

If they have a lien, deed and promosory note, then why not just foreclose?? We found that our house is caught up in mortgage fraud big time. Stopped payments, Nationstar has filed for foreclosure proceedings four times and all four have been denied by the federal court, they cannot provide the necessary paperwork. Folks, check your probate court for who has the lien and deed. Make the banks prove they have standings to your house, 75% of the time they do not. Do not move out until ordered by your local court. This is why homes sit on the market for years after people move out.

it is a scam and the people doing it know it is illegal, they are trespassing, we have filed a complaint with the sheriffs office and the investigator agrees, he called them for us warning them to not come back on the property. Now we have waterproof hidden video cams to catch them, sheriff said they will use the video to arrest whoever is coming out

Oh yes, Nationstar is only a mortgage servicer not a bank. Only banks can file foreclosure. Remember, that is if they can find the original paperwork. Research this and know your rights. Wee did it all pro-se and have won. No attorney fees.

Yep is trespassing. And I have signs posted all over with beware of dog too. Our home is 4 months behind in payment and I won't go into the specifics, but my husband was the mortgage holder. When I called nation star to discuss the situation they refused to talk to me. My husband will never be able to talk to them again. So, now it's their problem. I have moved on with my life.

    Just me.
After reading abunch of these posts, I't seems obvious that its a scam. I don't think nationstar or any company (even of that company was smokin dope) would pay some poor chump to pay his mortgage 600 pennies per stop, and do 60 to 100 stops per day, when they can simply give you a courtesy call to remind you, for a lot less. but then again, maybe Nstar can afford it.

If you receive a notice to call this number, the Utah Insurance Fraud Division is 877-372-8315.  Northstar Mortgage is 877-372-0315.  I work for the Utah Fraud Division and we get several calls from people who need help with their mortgage.  WE ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH NORTHSTAR. You need to call 877-372-0315.   We are trying to get Northstar to reprint their material. Sorry folks.

I pulled up to my today and there is a woman walking to my front door, she then placed an envelope on my door and took a photo of my front door and then my entire house.  I confronted her why was she taking photos of my house (my thinking was a thief targeting our home).  She said she was doing her job and to call the number on the envelope. I took the envelope and all it said was to call the number below 877-372-0315 and to please have my account number ready.  It said "NS" on it.  What account number.? What company? She stopped down the street to do this to a neighbor so I ran up and got a photo of her license plate FL # Z6QGX handicap plate.
They then turned aprons and as they drove buy a man driving screamed out his window to call and to pay my "F" ing Mortgage.  WOW!!!! If this is legitimate what is company? Why taking photos of my house?  Why cussing at me in front of my neighbors?  I am callimng the police to report the license number. And calling the BBB and my Sate attorney office.  WHat if she loses her cell phone and my info about my house is on it.....WOW!!!!! I wanted to drag the guy out of car and wait for police.  Cool heads prevail.
