    This scam number has called in the past. I used to keep a list of these numbers. But that's like keeping dead bugs. The point is: it's a scam. And the other point is: there must be just the right amount of suckers out there to keep these scammers going. People are making it profitable.

    Received a call from this number today.  They represented themselves as an online search company called Zip Web that was going to guarantee -- for free -- high listings for my company website.  They asked my name and I, unfortunately, gave it to them.  They confirmed my phone number and said I would not be charged anything unless I later wanted to buy their services.  Found out later that Zip Web has had several scam reports: they bill services to your telephone bill without authorization.  Called them back after I discovered this and it seems that several call centers use this number.  They said my number was not in their system and would not be for 5 days.  I should call back then, they said, and they would give me a cancellation confirmation number if my phone number was in their system.  I will do that.

    Phone companies are required by law to add charges from 3rd parties to phone bills.  But this company is making those charges fraudulently. The "Contact us" links on Zip Web's website do not work; return only a "Not Found" error 404.

    Always answer these types of calls - they have to pay for completed call.  Keep them talking as long as possible with fake info so they have to pay more.

    THERE IS A DO NOT CALL LIST FOR BUSINESSES, ITS WWW.DONOTCALL.GOV

    home business replies to THE PHONE COMPANY!
    As per info found on fcc web: donotcall.gov does not apply to businesses:

    http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

    BACKGROUND

    Telemarketing calls to business telephone lines generally are not prohibited. Neither the National Do-Not-Call Registry nor company-specific do-not-call requests apply to business lines. Likewise, most restrictions on the use of prerecorded telemarketing messages do not apply to business lines. Nonetheless, the FCC's rules protect businesses from unreasonable telemarketing practices by:

    * prohibiting the use of automatic dialing systems to tie up, at the same time, two or more telephone lines at a multi-line business;
    * prohibiting prerecorded messages from “seizing” a telephone line (failure to disconnect within five seconds after the calling system is notified that the called party has hung up);
    * requiring all prerecorded messages to include certain identifying information (at the beginning of the message identify the business, individual, or other entity responsible for the call; during or after the message provide the telephone of the business, individual or other entity responsible for the call);
    * prohibiting “war dialing” (using any technology to dial a telephone number to determine whether the line can receive faxes); and
    * limiting call “abandonment” by telemarketers to no more than 3% of all telemarketing calls over a 30 day period (failure to connect a telemarketing call to a live sales representative within two seconds).

    Some of these violations are especially difficult to investigate because they often involve calls in which the perpetrator, or even the precise activity, is not easily identified. The more details you are able to provide, the greater the likelihood that the FCC will be able to determine whether a violation has occurred and could lead to an enforcement action.

    Pissed off Business Owner
    This pissed them off.

    Get two phones - place them next to each other and set to speaker phone.  Keep calling them and have them listen to their own elevator music on the other phone.  I finally said "now that I have your attention - would you please stop calling me."  One lady said she was going to report this as harrassment - Oh Lord.  Finally a smart one who has seen their evil ways.. =)

    I called them back and gave them a taste of their own medicine:  When they answered, I asked for a "supervisor or the owner of the company."  The rep seemed a bit puzzled and asked if it were in regards to an account with them, I stated yes I really need to speak with a supervisor.  He transferred me and I advised the supervisor to take me off their list or they'd be hearing from me 5 times per day from this point forward.  He agreed, we'll see if it worked!

    I get lots of call from them. They try to sell search engine optimization and AdSense campaign management, either of which you do yourself pretty easily

    They call less frequently now that I send their calls to the fax machine.

    I got this call, and I was not feeling well, and distracted at work. I started answering their questions. Now they are claiming to be representing access local (does not exist) and that they are going to sponsor your website on their front page for a month to see if you get more business, and that you will only be billed through your local phone company if you like the results. At the end, I tried to tell her nevermind and to not call back, and the line went dead. Then I walked around pissed because I knew I was getting scammed, then someone "a supervisor" called me back to let me know that we had gotten cut off, and asked if I had any questions, I expressed my concern with her, and then she said just to enjoy my "free 30 days" being listed on their site, to see if it boosts my business, and that I will be contacted again to see if I am receiving any boosted business, and I can cancel at any time. I still think it's a scam, but I didn't give them any "exact info" only things they could lookup online anyways...so maybe this wont turn into a cluster F...I will be cancelling with them as soon as I hear back...I don't believe this BS...but they already have my basic info now...

    This is the same info they gave me...such a basic POS website...
