I have had a call from this number weekly for months. I don't owe any medical bills. If they won't identify themselves I won't give them any info.

Same deal - lady left a recorded voicemail claiming to be a debt-collection agency called NBROI. The number they used was 1-877-435-4007 as of May 7, 2012. Someone should take these scumbags down.

i have never heard of this company before today.  In my line of business I look at people's credit reports half of the day long.  today this guy showed 63 collection accounts - about a third of them for this company MBROI.  this is sad if this is a legitimate company to not communicate properly with people and then dump it on their credit report.

Our daughter had appointments at a hospital in MA.  we live in CT.
Her Pediatrician here in CT is Dr S.
We just recieved a bill from an audiologist in the name of "Dr S" (his first, last and enitial names, there is no other Dr of that name either in CT or in the hospital in MA, after stating that they told me he was just the referring physician....a lie!  We did self referral, her pediatrician refferred us to a CT hospital with which we were dissatisfied...same thing happened there too billing for non-exsistent appointments chased by 3rd part debt collectors).
Our daughter has NEVER had an audiology concern, let alone appointment with an audiologist.
    The date of the appointment?
We were NOT at that hospital for an appointment, and there was no schedualling or cancelling relating to that day at all (so it can't be a simple mistake of any sort).

The CT hospital for which the same things happened as in chasing up for non exsistent appointment payment under the pediatrician's name.
We're going to let it go to court... if that indeed will ever happen.
May take same inaction with NBRoi.

The MA hospital did confirm they use that co, but then told me the acc would have been handed over so the hospital no longer had details...convenient for NBROI that there's no simple way of fixing this for us.

    The number I got a call from was 1 800 257 0675
He said he was calling from MBROI
I Googled it and found nothing but this message board and what I had quickly read scared the life out of me.
I thought it was a scam.
It was a legitimate debt collector for a $24.00 co-pay I never paid to South County Hospital in Rhode island
I Googled MBROI and saw this message board.
I WAS FREAKED OUT and cancelled my credit card.
It turns out ROI in Worcester Ma is legit debt collectors.
Please hand me a napking for the egg on my face ;(

    Err
These "MBROI" people actually posted something on my credit report. The "so called" defaulted payment is for a medical bill I paid off in 2009. Now I have to go through the process of trying to get it removed from my credit report.

Got a call asking for me by my name.  said he was from mbroi (sp?) and asked for my date of birth and address.  I asked him to identify the company and he said he couldn't until I confirmed my identity with the info above.  I explained the problem with his explanation and hung up.  called the number back to try and ascertain the company and got a similar runaround with the woman who eventually answered.

We don't have any debt or owe anyone so I don't know what their excuse for calling would have been if I'd gotten into it with them.  They had my name and phone number though, they got that from somewhere.

This is a debt collection company that will not give its name.  DO NOT give them any information because they will not identify themselves.  How can some company call your home and ask you for your name, date-of-birth and address without validating themselves?

This practice is TOTALLY wrong, especially in the age of the high level of identity theft.  Only found out what they do through research.  Still cannot find out exactly what MBROI means.  Count the number of calls that they make to you.  Work out a plan and then maybe they will stop calling you.  I don't know.  Find out who they are representing with the call and call that agency; ask them to call off the "attack dogs".  Good luck!

I spoke with this company last night. They are legitimate and they collect for hospitals on outstanding medical debt. I requested a copy of my original bill and they said they had to have the hospital send it to me. I asked them why the bill isn't on my credit report after 2.5 years and he said that the hospital doesn't ask them to report to the credit bureaus. YEAH RIGHT. I told him I want that in writing and his response? We don't report to credit bureaus therefore we can't give a letter stating that we don't report. Give me a break. What legitimate company doesn't have paper with letterhead? They just don't want to agree to it. My advice? See how long (if at all) you've owed the debt (if it's 7 or more years it needs to be off your credit report by law). If it's been less than 7 years,  request a letter saying if you do pay they will remove the account from your credit report. Otherwise you are paying the money for nothing. A collection account is a collection account, paid or not, on a credit report. If they can't produce the letter, tell them to hit the road.

    Annoying msgs
msg from 877-435-4009, “NBROI” (a collection agency), trying to reach (some name other than mine).  Msg the same as other people posted: "This message is for.....If you are not.......please do not listen to this call. By continuing to listen to this call you acknowledge that you are.....This call is to collect a debt. Please call 1-877-435-4009.”

I spoke with them tonight, also got automated msg asking for my home phone number - I did not put in my number, but instead pressed zero & an operator picked up.  I explained they were leaving messages for someone else other than myself and requested that they please remove my number from their system.  Surprisingly he was pleasant and agreed to do so, after verifying my number (he must’ve gotten from caller ID).

    Eyeroll
Called me from 877-435-4009. Couldn't understand the name, though it sounded like "Stephanie," and my maiden name - but my first name isn't Stephanie. It seems like a scam - I have been called by a real debt collector before (that ended up not being my fault anyway), and this is not how they handle the cases.

It was not shady. It's called you gave false information. They are a debt collection agency that collects on medical bills from Hospitals. If you don't pay the hospital then they collect for them. My wife and I have also gotten calls from them. They are based out of Worcester Massachusetts.

I recently got a copy of my credit report and to my surprise there were 3 accounts for medical bills just filed last month. I am a hard working single mother and work very hard to pay my bills. I NEVER RECEIVED A BILL FOR ANY OF THESE ACCOUNTS. I immediately called the bill collectors and explained my situation because I am buying a new home, and they accepted my payment AND REMOVED FROM MY CREDIT REPORT raising my score. I called this place which had a $100 collection from Southwest, that I NEVER received a bill from and they CLAIM they can not remove it off my report. THIS PLACE IS ALL ABOUT MONEY AND NOTHING FOR UNDERSTANDING PEOPLES SITUATION. So now I have this on my credit where as if I received a bill for it right away, it wouldn't even be in their hands
