- SDJust received a call from a woman saying she was from B of A regarding the need for the Articles of Incorporation for my susiness. She knew how many accounts I had, how many credit cards, the addresses for the business and, though she gave me a FAX#, she also said I could go into a branch with the documents. It sounded like a valid call until I read the comments here. Sounds like I will go into the branch and physically check it out.

- jrsCalled and left message on my phone about compliance. Prior to the calls, I did receive paperwork regarding W9 form and a letter stating updated filing was needed for compliance. Well, in my mind, this may not be a scam. What it may be though is, BOA has, like many big banks who dont know what the right hand is doing from the left hand, screwed up their internal paperwork and are two stepping before they get fined big time by the regulatory and tax commissions. That's my thought anyway. All our personal info, (which is just a home loan with them, no accounts) is on our mortgage paperwork and hasnt changed, so they can get all the info they need from there. They are still taking out our mortgage payment, so not too concerned. If this is an urgent matter, why wouldnt a letter stating what BOA's intentions were- and what info would be needed- come out 3-6 months in advance so the consumer is not blindsided by letters and phone calls from the compliant department. Just my 2 cents worth. I havent responded to any requests, do not plan too either, unless directed by my tax preparer or lawyer.

- Jone| 3 repliesDO NOT AVOID THIS, THEY WILL CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNTS. I received a letter and call from compliance department. I read the online forms and everyone stated its a scam. I called the back of my card phone number and was told there is nothing wrong with my account. Therefore, I DISREGARDED and did not do a single thing. However, a month later I had 2 accounts closed because I did not update my account with compliance department.

- ALCCaller identified themselves as being from B of A, trying to reach <my name>. She asked if I had received a recent letter from them. I asked them what the nature of the letter was. She said that first she would need to authenticate me. I told her that she had called me, but how would I authenticate them? She said she was from the Know Your Customer Contact Center and suggested I go to a local B of A branch or call the Customer Service number on the back of my card. She gave me a Reference Number to give them and said they would then connect me back to the Center. She sounded very businesslike and believable. Phishing scam.
