- amelia replies to Doris| 1 replyI just looked at my credit card too, and thought the insider pass was the name for my cheap AOL account, but when I saw another AOL charge, I knew I was getting screwed by someone. They charge that when you enter your email address upon placing an order. A girl named Theresa said she is crediting all three charges I dug up. We'll see. She was helpful and nice. Hopefully it works out. PHone number 1-877-498-7283 and gave me a confirmation number of the cancellation.
- AshHappened to me TODAY.
I hate Newport News but I finally decided to order again after receiving 30% off my order. Afterwards, I get this free shipping pop-up and obviously gave my email address. After the email it tells me I have to pay $1.95 and a membership fee after 30 days. I CALLED RIGHT AWAY. The lady was very friendly and gave me some pointers but could do nothing at this time seeing I just put it through 15 minutes ago. She told me to call back Friday. I wont get my $1.95 back but atleast I know NOW instead of a year from now.
Psssshhh.
NEVER AGAIN WILL I ORDER FROM A COMPANY THAT LETS SOMEONE DO THIS.- Caller: INSIDER PASS.
- JenniferThank God for this site! I was looking over my credit card statement and noticed a charge of $12.95. I thought it was some kind of surcharge from the credit card company, when I called, I asked what it was and they said I should call the phone # 1-877-498-7283 listed on the statement. I tried calling, but there was no one available, so I looked to the world wide web and found this site. I started looking back and realized that I have been being charged for over a year and a half!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! I have not purchased clothing from Newport News in almost 2 years. I can't wait to report this to the BBB & to give them an earful when I call on Monday morning. I better get my money back.
- Kimi| 1 replyI just discovered this rip-off; I ordered a swin suit from Newport News, but found my credit card was charged not only for the suit (and a high shipping + handling charge), but also a separate charge on same date from InsiderPass. They never disclosed it would cost me $1.95. Thanks to this site, I realized they would soon be charging $12.95 or $14.95 per month for nothing. I will never buy from Newport News again, but I don't know which agency to complain to.
- Not A Happy Camper! replies to ameliaI just had the same thing happen to me but i caught it at the $1.95 mark. Told them i was NOT happy with the hidden cost! and i also got a confirmation number! Emailed them 3 times and nothing. Tried the phone number on Friday and it would not work. ANd when it did told them, he transfered me then the phone disconnected. NOT HAPPY AT ALL.
- AlyssaSO NOT DO FREE SHIPPING WITH NEWPORT NEWS
They sign you up for this, $1.95 and after they charge $14.95/month for this- Caller: Insider Pass
- Baffled in Massachusetts| 1 replyToday I noticed the $14.95 charge and immediately called the #. I too was told that I signed up for the "insider pass" which I had no knowledge of. I checked my bank account and discovered a total of NINE $14.96 charges. Not only was the membership cancelled but the so was a total of 8 of the charges. DO NOT LET THEM FOOL YOU. I was told that the 1st representative could only reverse 2 charges and that I’d need to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor then told me she could only do up to 3 then she “looked” again and saw that it would allow how to reverse an additional 3 for a total of 6 not including the first 2. She also said that should I order again using the same card Newport News will alert me as to whether I want to sign up or not. Shouldn’t that be the option in the beginning to avoid so many complaints???

- Gaya replies to perriWOW, I didnt know so many people had this trouble. I though the first charge of 1.95 was for the order I place and then they just assumed and took the 14.95 charge of my credit card. I called up my card provided who called the merchant and disputed it for me. They promised to return the whole amount.Lets see
- Hubbs replies to kimWe had 5 months of 14.95 charges and the 1.95. Called and said they would credit my wife for 2 months. BS...I'm going to call them, the Better Business Bureau and my bank. NEVER GOING TO SHOP with them again.
- Milca A. Ortiz-RiveraReceived charges for about months on my credit card from this number. I don't recall receiving anything from them.

- disgruntled now gratefulIn April 2009, Newport News is still continuing to charge $14.95 - my credit card statement simply said "regent insider pass" - had no idea what that was. I googled the phone # and found this site, and immediately called my credit card co. to dispute a charge I never authorized, and also emailed Newport News to demand immediate credit and tell them that web indicated that many were unhappy with unauthorized and/or "hidden" fees they regularly charged, and that I would not give future business to any company that couldn't be clear about exactly what customers were charged for. I returned the one dress I ordered - it looked great in the photo on the web, but size was completely wrong (the largest "small" ever seen), cheap fabric and construction... that they have to resort to hidden fees also indicates a certain desperation to make $ - if they would make decent clothes and operate honestly, they might actually be more profitable... Anyway I'm grateful for this website - thank you.

- xxxxxx replies to CatherinThis Company is illegally charging on my credit card.
- R.L.| 1 replyThis was definitely from a Newport News Purchase. When you order, there is a section you can enter your email address for what they call "Private Sales" and their e-newsletter. This is very misinforming because when you do that, you are automatically signing up for the "Insider Pass".
I had no idea what the $1.95 charge was for that showed up on my bank account, nor did I give anyone permission to charge me that fee for so called discounts.
Why do I need to pay for discounts when I can just go online and search for them myself? Anyway, I called the number provided on the charge and I spoke to a very nice man who kindly refunded the $1.95 fee and canceled my insider pass. He also gave me a confirmation for future reference.
Just be careful who you give your email address to...its frustrating that you even have to check out for these things.- Caller: Insider Pass

- R.L. replies to KimiSeriously, this is so misleading!
I find it so dishonest and am quite nervous about ever purchasing from them again - R.L. replies to R.L.Okay, so I was so frustrated I called Newport News Customer Service regarding my order just to make sure everything looked ok and that it shows I paid and won't be double billed, etc.
I asked why I was signed up for the insider pass, and first let me say I thought I was talking to some Stoner with a heavy So. Cal. beach accent, who said it happened when a pop up for 10% on my next order came up and I entered my email address.
Seriously, after I told him this makes me very nervous about ordering from them again, he didn't reassure me nor tell me that it will be OK. I got nothing! There was just dead silence on his end until I said "If I do decided to order from you guys again how do I prevent this?" He said just dont click on any discount links or enter your email for any.
After all that, he started to seriously read from some pre-printed material about whether or not I would like to receive 3 free magazines for Rachel Ray or any other list of fashion magazines which would then go to a yearly price after the 3 were sent. I said no I don't need any and he proceeded to ask if I had any friends I wanted to send it to, HELLO!! Did you just ask me if I wanted to send 3 free magazines to my friends who will then have to pay for it later. How could I even give permission for that??? Seemed very weird and if that is their customer service it is quite ridiculous. - TLDI also received a charge on my bank account after ordering from Newport News!.... I called and never did get ahold of anyone... The automated voice said it was "member services" but I didn't know what it was member services of??? ... The only option I had was to press 1 to cancel service so I did!.... We'll see if the charge disappears. What a scam!... I'm not sure if its Newport News that is doing this or if its some one who has attached itself to their web site.
- Martha replies to KimI had they same thing happen, except I was unable to get any other than the 2 months returned, for the $14.95 that has been chagred for a year. I noticed it but thought it was for something else. But when it kept coming out I knew something was wrong. Chase is the company that excepted the fee, but after all the complaints that have been posted, no company should except any fee from Insider pass. Newport News is a disapointment to me. I have ordered over the years. I will never again, because any company that scams and sells their customer information with no reguard to their privacy is not acompany any one should do business with.
- Laurie replies to CatherinI just called the number and all it did was ask for my phone number to varify my account and to press 1 to discontinue membership. I did. I have also been getting charged 14.95 a month. And have made a purchase from Newport News.
