- brendasame here!!! I have been charged twice and didn't not sign up for anything as well!!!!!
- SHALA| 1 replyTHE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME AS WELL! My suggestion is to call the # on your bank statemnet and cancel the subcribtion. Then dispute the charges with your banking institute to get some resolve.
- meisjewelsWell, crap! I just noticed this $14.95 charge on my statement, and looked back at previous months, and have been charged this for who knows how long (I could only see charges from May - August). I am completely furious!! Mostly at myself for not catching this sooner. I called 877-498-7283 and was able to cancel and get 1 month refund, but why do we have to deal with this at all? I will definitely be looking closer from now on. This happened to our business credit card, and I caught it right away because I have to verify each charge, so I should have been paying more attention. I can't believe companies are allowed to do this. It is so WRONG!!!!

- ded replies to Kimwhat number did you call to get your refund?
- SheilaI didn't get a call but my AMEX account has been charged $14.95 by "Regent" and this phone number. I am putting in a disclaimer with AMEX. I will call this number on Monday.
- deb replies to SHALADid anyone get their money back from the bank? They have ripped me off since Febuary. Going to bank in the morning. I also called the number given to me by the bank and cancelled something I never knew I was a part of.
- SWThis is for free shipping at Newport news. You do not realize you are signing up for a 30 day trial and then it jumps to $12.95 after the free month. I had this charge on my credit card and never used the service. I was able to call and get a refund of one year of charges. DO NOT sign up for free shipping privileges!
- MissyTHIS STUPID NUMBER CHARGED MY ACCOUNT AND CAUSED ME TO GO INTO A NEGATIVE BALANCE. DONT BELIEVE THAT MESS ABOUT OH IT CAME ALONG WITH A CLOTHING STORE PURCHASE. NOT! SCAM
- ALEX replies to breanna BeckhamI NOTICED A CHARGE OF $14.95 ON MY CREDIT CARD STATEMENT. I LOOKED BACK AND SAW THAT THIS CHARGE HAS BEEN ON MY CREDIT CARD FOR THE PAST THREE MONTHS! I HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS FOR. I CALLED THE NUMBER (18774987283)AND THEY SAID IT WAS FROM A NEWPORT NEWS CATALOG ORDER. I CLAIMED THIS WAS FRADULENT ACTIVITY AND DEMANDED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR. THE WOMAN CREDITED ME FOR 2 MONTHS AND TRANSFERED ME TO THE CREDIT DEPARTMENT, THEY CREDITED MY ACCOUNT FOR THE 3RD MONTH AND PROMISED NO OTHER DEDUCTIONS WOULD BE MADE TO MY CREDIT CARD. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM NEWPORT AGAIN.
- kUGH i just got off the phone with them and they canceled my membership with no problem. its just a snake move on newport news's part!!! call the number that is provided on your statement. it took me right to them! im really upset at newport news...might not ever order from them again.

- ACI had an insiders pass charge also. When I called the number it asked for my phone number to access my information. So I entered my husbands phone number bc I knew I hadn't signed up for anything. It said it wasn't found so I entered my number and it said info was found and if I wanted to cancel service press 1 so I did. So hopefully that stopped it, but it infuriates me that this service whatever it may be took 14.95 of my money from my bank acct! How much money have they made off people.
- ArunI had no call but had a charge 0f 14.95 on my card. VERY BAD BUSINESS STRATEGY on part of NewPort News - they must be ASHAMED for the executive who approved this.
I cant believe a company will ruin its own business to promote some other business. Any NewPort News person, we might even like your clothes. But we HATE your suicidal business ideas. - Hillary replies to CatherinSame thing happen to me! I was charged $14.95, I immediately called the number on my statement and they canceled the account and said they were going to refund my money. Oddly enough, the woman I spoke to was very friendly so that helped out a lot too with my frustration.
- ShannonSame thing. Only I called immediately after I ordered my item from Newport because I thought I had gotten roped into something but was "assured" that I won't be receiving any charges for anything. Well, I just realized six months later that I too have $14.95 of charges and was given the same song and dance about they can only refund two months. I spoke to the supervisor and he is refunding the whole six months. Scam, and when people catch on they try to still keep some money by saying they can "only" refund two months. BS. Then when you talk to a supervisor, he refunds the whole amount. I hope I get the money. If not I will call back. I had no problem reaching them the first time.

My bank statement showed a charge from "Insider Pass 877-498-7283 MD . . ." This site helped me trace it to EMI Encore Marketing in MD. The charge incurred was due to sneaky advertising disguised as a free promotion (free shipping from Newport News online). To cancel the unauthorized subscription, call 1-800-648-9977. Ask for a written cancellation letter from them. Also, the President is Stephen Klein, and the Complaints Officer is Carole Hunt. The corporate address is 4501 Forbes Boulevard, Lanham, MD 20706. Make sure they don't sneak charges on you. It seems they mislead consumers with insufficient and deceptive advertising.
I never heard of them until now, and they took my money, the nerve.- Caller: EMI Encore Marketing International
- fialkaI looked on my account today and saw that I was charged 14.95 for something I did not authorized. I called the # and cancel that membership that I did not authorized. The thing happened when I bought something from NewPort News catalog, they gave me a free shipping and signed me up for that membership. I have been charged for last 2 years!!!! Total of $358.80!!!!! I am so disapointed and will NEVER buy anything from Newport News!!!!I cancel that "membership" and they only will refund me last 6 months!!!!
- andrey replies to ChrisMe TOo. i got screwed by them, and so did my parents. i ordered 1 item and now they charging me this crap! what a rip off!
- KRS1970This was a call initiated by me...after seeing the number on my credit card statement:
I just realized there was a $14.95 charge to my card for the last 3 months! Good Grief! I found this page (thank goodness) by googling the number on the statement. I called and was told that by ordering an item (several months ago) I signed up for free shipping on my NEXT order (ok, that sounds plausible), but that my putting my email address in as an electronic signature I authorized this 'membership' Uh, that's a big ole NO! I am quite sure the email address was to get email confirmations of my order...and how in the world would free shipping on your next order translate into a $14.95 membership charge for whatever it was they were offering! Supposedly the lady cancelled it, so when my next statement comes up it better be taken off!
Thank you for reading my rant...and goodbye Newport News! - Happened 2 me too replies to KMLI just called insider Pass, 1-877498-7283, ready to argue...the lady on the phone was very nice and said it was from a Newport News order that I had, received some promo and this "membership" is what came with it. She said I would have my $14.95 back in my account in 7-10 days, and she had cancelled it all together for any future charges. Hope she is true.
- TennismamaI saw this charge this month, went back and realized that it had been there for the last 6 months. Called my credit card co. to find out what it was (the phone # wasn't printed on my credit card statement). When I called the company--Encore Marketing--they said they could credit back 2 months. I said I wanted the whole thing credited back. They put me thru to a "supervisor". She said they could give me 2 more months. I said that wasn't satisfactory, that I wanted the entire amount credited back so I needed to talk to her supervisor. She put me on hold and then came back and said they would credit me back the whole thing. I'll need to be sure and check and make sure. I've called BBB to complain about this company but really Newport News because it was when I ordered something from then online that I got hooked into this unbeknownst to me. Check your credit card statements and demand a full refund and NEVER do business with Newport News again!
