Wow, Mark, great advice. Hope it works. Otherwise I can block the numbers, but this is easier.

If I pick up, they don't answer and I can hear shuffling and other noises that give a clue that something is going on. No voices heard, just odd noises. IF someone does answer I can almost tell from the voice and manner of speaking that he is not from the charity he is calling for. When I ask questions, he doesn't know the answers. The guy wants to make a buck, the charity wants donations, but the technology is intrusive. And once the person was obviously calling from his home and expressed surprise that I would donate to that charity and asked his wife to get the machine... I didn't continue the conversation!

keep getting calls from this number at all hours of the day and night.  will not leave a message.  will not talk when i do pick up.  the no call thing does not work.  i also get other calls from another toll free number with the sam results.  drive a person crazy and especially with sick people i the house

The caller is a sales pitch at MDS. Go to the website and use the contact number to call and fax. I routinely call several times a day and hang up. As soon as I figure out how to use my computer to send faxes I will bombard their fax machine with worthless prints.

The MDS website says that they primarily serve non-profits such as Salvation Army, Christian organizations and conservative political campaigns.  I found the DNC section and hope it helps.

I don't know what this number is also. I don't have any bills in collection that I know of, but also when you call it back it won't register to a call. I think this is wrong that some company can harass but not identify themselves. I do have adult children, so hopefully they aren't in collections!! Maybe if they would identify their company I would be able to reach a conclusion. Can't even call it back!!

get calls several times a week. Let answering machine pick up but no message is left.

Just get a free i-net based phone service (we have Ooma) and keep blocking those numbers.  The other day I picked up the phone, but didn't say anything.  Just waited.  An Asian woman kept trying to see if someone was there.  She finally hung up.  You can listen quietly and if you hear voices in the back ground, you probably are getting a call from a call center.

I'll just keep blocking the numbers as they come in.

Actually, you can block any number.  My hubbie and I ditched our local carrier (Windstream) and went to free internet phone.  (Ours happen to be Ooma).  I can block all the numbers I want!  It's SWEET!  :)

Those people are looking for elder people with money......they called my mother-in - law for 3 thousand. Saying she won a new car and it would be send to  her if she pays up. They call her everyday. already stolen 8 thousand

NON stop calling from this # and if I pick up no sound after I say hello.  Silence and than after long wait hangs up!  How can I stop this?

Had been getting calls from them. Asked to be taken off their list (they were looking for someone else). I was still receiving calls.

I switched to Google Voice (which is free) and got a new number to link to my home phone number. Google voice has more features like Call blocking and call screening for FREE.

In addition to this I switched to Comcast Digital Voice. They also have Call Screening and Call blocking for FREE. All you do is login to your acct and put the number down you don't want to get calls from that's IT!


Honestly, after dealing with collectors for over a year now I've found the only way to stop the nonsense is to switch numbers or get more calling features from your own company that stops them from getting through (i.e. Call screening, call blocking/blacklisting) As I said, Google Voice and Comcast Digital Voice offer these services for FREE. Please look into them.

If I had the know how I would make a program that would search for phone numbers on the internet and automatically enter that number into their "Do Not Call" web page and let it run for a few weeks.  Maybe take it a step further and share the program with all those who want revenge.

My guess: Any info you give will be sold on other lists and will eventually multiply the calls. You can't trust people like this and must assume they are smarter than you at their business. They are Dirt Bags.
