Got a lot of call from 888-224-5557 and wanted me to call back at 877-733-7452...  Definitely a SPAM  call.  No one answers my call back on 888 number.

CA debt collector..

Elisa called 5/6/12 asking for my mother by name. I asked who was calling and reminded her it is customary to introduce oneself before asking to speak with someone. She then identified "California Service Bureau", and I asked what they do. Then she said they were a collection agency. I explained that my mother is disabled/elderly and I have Power of Attorney and pay all her bills. I asked who she was calling on behalf of. (I have received no notices of any unpaid bills. I monitor all Mom's bills and pay them on time, sometimes even before I get a statement!) Elisa asked me to fax the Power of Attorney to her so they could talk to me. I refused. I told Elisa she would have to mail whatever it was to the address of record. Elisa asked me to give her the mailing address. I refused, and instead asked her to tell me where she will mail to. She refused. (I have to say she was very polite, but obviously well trained to provide zero information.) She said she would put whatever it was in the mail that day. I asked her where it would be mailed from. She said Novato, which is 10 miles away. She said I'd receive it in a week. It's been over a week, and so far nothing from them either at my home or where Mom lives.

These people have been calling me everyday. I don't know who they are. They won't stop calling.

This company has been calling me for more than a year, I told them I am not the person they are looking for but they would not stop calling, some times twice a day.

Robo-calls from unidentified party asking me to identify myself and to then call 888-224-5557. No file #, no case # mentioned. I am current on all my medical bills and have not called the number back. This is seriously aggravating and sometimes occurs multiple times per day.

This no. called and got the voicemail and left what sounded like a handheld airhorn blowing into the phone for the message. REAL LOSERS! THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE FIRED FROM THEIR JOB!

I received a message from this number, the caller identified themselves as being from California Service Bureau advising me to call them back regarding unpaid fines.

I do have an unpaid fine with Sacramento county. I contacted the Sacramento Superior Court Traffic division, and after a few transfers they confirmed that the debt was referred to California Service Bureau for collection. I am unable to pay at this time, and when I do pay the fine I will pay it directly to the court, not the collection agency, but at least I know this is a legitimate agency and not another extortion group who's got a hold of my personal info.  

(Back Story:I got a ticket a while back for tabs and insurance. I was insured and registered at the time and was waiting for my current tabs and proof of insurance to arrive in the mail. It was a crazy month. Anyway, I wasn't able to attend court to show proof required to have the charges waived and could not get my court date rescheduled. So I was hit with nearly $2,000 dollars in fines and my license was suspended. Unfortunately my job was outsourced to the Phillipines and, until I find another job, I have no way to pay the fine.)

The company seems like scam artists. The phone number they call with says "Toll Free Calle" (yes the 'e' is correct)

When you call the number they seem to be able to determine your phone number even if you have caller ID blocking. They do some typing and say 'oh you have an outstanding medical bill'.  I have no outstanding bills. They refuse to tell you anything until you give them your date of birth and last for digits of your social.  

Never give your date of birth or any part of your social to someone who calls like this...even if they know your
name, etc.

A legitimate company represents itself and would send something in the mail before making strange calls.

they called my work via an 800 number that is for customers and asked for the AP manager. When I gave her name and said she was away at lunch she left a number and an extension for her to reach her at. When I asked for more specific details, she said that it was a personal subject and she couldn't discuss it....how can it be personal if you don't know who you are calling. this is a scam.

they continue to call and i blocked their number and they still don't quit

it is not your place to call everyone's name - maybe we do not have a bill that we owe
maybe we have spoken with them before and all they do is call 17-19 times a day

Due to federal law we must verify you are the person we are trying to collect from because they are usually medical debt and may contain sensitive medical information.  Asking for your date of birth is to protect your privacy.

When I got a call from 888-224-5557, I called the number back and it was just Comcast trying to solicit their special offers.

Got a call, no one there, & I am here today to report the 26 telephone calls recieved in the last 2 days.They have overloaded my answereing machine & my time .this on a national "do not call" listing for our telephone.

You sound like either you are the worlds most gullible person with too much money, or you work for one of these scam companies. Do you bother to investigate if your even giving a real person/company your credit card to pay off a bill? Or do you just give away your money to anyone who calls you? In that case, whats your # I could use a few thousand...lol. These scams are a scourge in our country and thats why there are laws against them and for you to childishly call people names for being cautious and questioning whether they actually owe some thing is a prime example of your maturity level. Your probably under 26 and your mommy and daddy still pay your credit card bills for you because any adult is cautious with their finances and watch every penny.

These idiots keep sending bills or calling my husband every few years. When he picks up the phone an automated message in Spanish starts playing then after he punches the number to speak to someone it hangs up on him??? Last time they were looking for someone else by the same name who is not even in this country anymore we have learned. Its been 30 years since my husband even lived in California! And he certainly had more than enough money (wish that was still true today in this damn economy..lol!) and always paid his bills!! So NOT everyone they harrass owes them money!!
