just to add my .02.  These people have been calling me for about 2 months.  They say they are coming to give me a notice of intent and they have a "file" in their office.  Think people!!   If they have a court document, you can easily check up on that at your local courthouse - that would be public info.  They are NOTHING but a scam/sleaze/crooked/illegal group and please don't fall for it.  Alexis Adams called me on a Tuesday and said "if you don't return a call to this 800 #, I will be coming to your home or place of business between 12-5 tomorrow".  Since I ignore all of their calls, she called me on Thursday and says "I'm sorry about yesterday, I was tied up on some other cases - I will be there today between 12-5".  Again, I knew she was a scammer so I didn't break a sweat.  She tries to sound like she is an attorney when the truth is that she's probably a former stripper or politician - who else would do this kind of job.  And I guarantee you - that's not her real name.  Now ask yourself this:  If this is legitimate, why do they use fake names???

After the calls I made to them yesterday morning, they have not contacted me.  I'm going to call again today to ask for the company name and mailing address. Maybe all of us should do just that.  If anybody else actually obtains this information, please post it.

I just called with my number blocked and asked for a mailing address. This time "Samuel Green" answered.  He asked for my name and if I had a claim number. I said "all I need is your mailing address".  He asked what it was regarding; again I asked for the address.  He then said "we have two addresses so I need to know what this is regarding".  I said "oh, I'll take both addresses then".  I said that oddly, when I look online for their company name and address, there is no information so I was calling for an address to see if the company is even legitimate.  He asked me to hold.  He left me on hold for a minute and then disconnected me.  I guess I'll call again later.

An update after another call today. Per my husband,

Called them and told them I'd reported them to the Atty general. They
said the call was from an "independent courier" and the calls would
cease. I asked who they were and they said "the Civil Claims Bureau".
I said, sounds great, what's your address.  She said "why do you want
that if you're already off your list?" I said "I already asked to get
off your list and you kept calling, so you'll forgive me if I don't
trust you. I'd like to write you a letter."  She said "Well, I've
already taken you off our list, so..." I said, "look, if you're not
going to provide me an address, you know you're violating the FDCA and
I have a damages claim against you already.  But I'd say we're done
here, except that you may hear from the attorney general and since
you're not cooperative with me, I'll be more than happy to assist them
in any way.  I know you're following orders, but go tell your boss to
be careful."  They hung up on me.

I got the Mikayla Williams call today, also saying she would serve me on Monday, 2/13.  This is not a process server.  She is one of many people who work for a collection agency, trying to collect mostly payday loan defaults.  I've received several of these calls at work over the last 6 months.  One time, they called my immediate manager.  It was at that time I filed a complaint with the Attorney General.  The calls to work and to my family have stopped, but they continue to call my cell number.  Defaulting on a payday loan in Texas is a civil matter and isn't dealt with the way they want you to think.  It's just a bully tactic to try and get you to pay so they can recoup some of the money they lost when they bought the debt.  At first, they told me they were with the county and that I had a "bad check" outstanding and wanted me to think they are with the DA's office.  This is a lie and if you call them out on it, they will quickly get mad and hang up on you.  Good luck to us all!

Got the same phone call for the past 2 days and I'm supposed to be "served" today, between 12-5.  Guess that's their standard "serving" hours.  Not too worried after reading all these posts, but BTW, I'm in Albuquerque, NM...a long way from Ohio or PA

Just received a call from 716 568 7597. I didn't answer because the number is unknown to me. They left a choice message with an automated message, poorly recorded. "we are calling for "blank", regarding file number "blank". My name was not inserted in the blank, or the file number. They asked me to call back at 1 888 229 7865. I didn't but got online to find out who and what they were...thanks for the scam information.

Received a call, a recording left the message saying he had a important matter he needed to speak to us about.  The recording was jumbled in some areas so you couldn't make out the claim # is said or the name of the person on the recording.  We have no uncollected debt due.  Scam

Just like DW, the recording I received a message with blanks for the name and file number.  I called back but received their recording.  I own a small business so this was very disturbing for me.  Glad to see all the scam postings.  I won't be concerned about this.

I recieved a call from this number 7 days ago and there was a recorded message stating "we are calling for (no name was stated) about claim number (no claim number was stated) and it was urgent that I call back immediately to "resolve this issue." I HATE these type of calls because they are relentless and non-stop. I know in order to get them to stop calling I have to call back and tell them they have the wrong number and warn them not to call again or I will report them to the atty gen in my state.

So.......I called and get a lady by the unique name of "SUE SMITH," ROFLMAO. I informed her that I had received the call and it was the wrong number. She said, "how do you know it is the wrong number?" I told her I knew because she had reached a business. She apologized and said she would remove the number.

We will see, if not, I will have to go to step 2. Step 2 is fun and usually effective. In step 2, I call them back and when a live person calls, I blare a bicycle horn in their ears while intermittently saying, "take my name off your list" until they hang up. I have nothing better to do with my time so I will do it 100 times a day if I have too. I make sure to keep doing it until I get some action. They have to pay for every toll-free call that comes in so if they want to waste my time, I will waste their time and money too.

I owe a lot of debt, I probably even owe someone you know....lol. I have been unemployed for almost 2 years now and I am planning to file bankruptcy as soon as I get the money to file. These collectors are snakes and will try any and every thing to get you scared. There is no debtors prison. Nobody is going to give you a warning that they are going to serve you. That would be like the DEA calling the local crack house to tell them that they will be served a search warrant tomorrow between 12 and 5! Absurd!

If you show any signs of weakness, they will know. They are like bloodhounds and can smell fear. You have to be just as relentless as they are in insisting they stop calling.

I received the same call today from the guy Michea I wasnt here to receive the call but he left a voicemail about a claim is being filed against me, and the will come to my house or job. And he was talking low as if he didnt want no one to hear what he was saying. So I called the number back and it was a answering machine saying something claims office. I figurethis was so sort of scam because it was done very unprofessionally. So I google the number, And I ended up here. I hope whoever this is get caught soon.

Thank you! I know what to do the next time I get this call. I have been getting these calls for one year. They keep asking for my sister. They said she used me as a reference. My sister has not talked to me in years so I couldn't understand why she would use me as a reference.  These calls stopped for a while cuz I told them I did not know where she was. They started up again in January.  They call once a day with a restricted number. I pick up my phone and hang up so they can not leave a message. I missed the call yesterday and they left a message saying my sister  was being served tomorrow between 12 and 5.

These people are a joke. Mikalya Williams (888-229-7865) called telling me she is confirming that I will be served tomorrow. LMAO!!! OK.. Process servers don't call you to setup at time to serve you or call you three days in a row to let yo know you will be served. Furthermore, when you call back all you get is a voicemail. I left a message to ask what alleged debt I owed considering I filed bankruptcy in 2005. Collection agencies are a joke and the people that work for them are as well. At least have a scare tactic that is believable...

People don't waste your time trying to call them back or even give them the satisfaction of getting your blood boiling. They purchase junk debt and then try to collect.

By the way, I'm in Texas so if Mikalya is going to serve me she's got a helluva a drive or plane ride. LMAO!

I received a call with unknown number from someone also claiming be a process server and wanted to give me an opportunity to have a stop order placed.  The message said to call 888-229-7865.  I spoke with someone name James Sullivan claiming to be with the Civil Claims Bureau and offering me an opportunity to settle a Cashnet debt.  They sounded like they were legitimate but obviously from all of the posts that I'm seeing they're a scam.  I never called them back to provide any payment.
