- M| 1 replyGot a call today at my parents house that I haven't lived at for 4 years. I called him back and all he wanted was my social and D.O.B. I told him he would not get a single bit of information from me. We went back and forth, and I let him know I have a friend at the D.A's office. He got very upset and hung up on me. Pretty certain this is a scam. GET A REAL JOB!! I guess these are the jobs that let Obama say we are creating jobs.

- RobbieLamar Richardson called my cell telephone and left his name and call back number of: 1-888-229-7865. I never called him back. It's bogus. If they have proper paper work; they can send me a notice via the United States Postal Service. We filed bankruptcy nearly two years ago. I think someone bought an old debt for ten cents on the dollar and got stuck holding the worthless piece of paper. It's all a scam. Don't worry about the idiots. They been calling me for over a year now. I totally and completely ignore them. Oh, I tried the reverse telephone number web site, and there is no information for this telephone number of 888-229-7865.

- Jo replies to Erin| 1 replyJust out of curiosity..Have you recently had a pay day loan? They called me too but said it was because someone I know used me as a reference when they got a loan and she presented them with a fraudulent check. The lady's name was Kayla.A few years ago they were calling me at home ,at my work,at my kids homes.Said if i didn't pay 500.00 right away they would see me in court and I will have to pay 8000.00.I cried at first a.I was so scared..Then I said.Wait..I had paid off all my pay day oans on time. Why would they be calling me? Then My daughter told me to look onine and find out where the call was coming from.It was coming from a place in Calif. All it said was Land line and had an adress. So next time they called, which was 8:15 on a Sunday morning, I told them that I owe nothing. This guy named Walter said"I have your last 4 digits of soc sec as **** and i said yes and how did you get that? He said it was from a pay day loan that I owed.I said"What was the name of the pay day loan co?" He couldn't answer that. Then he started yelling at me that I better pay it or I will be in trouble with the courts.I told him if he ever EVER called my home again or my job,or my kids that I had traced his call to where it was coming from and he would see the cops at HIS door.He yelled back at me "Good luck to you!" and uck up the phone.I have not heard from them again til they called yesterday to try to do the same thing because i was used as that ref.I told them they better take my name off their list and they better not show up at my door.So this is a big scam and everybody should just be tough with these people and scare them rigth back. They should all be locked up for what they are doing.
- Luna replies to Mindy| 1 replyI got the same call from the same "Mikayla Williams" saying that I will be served on Friday (today being Wednesday).
I can tell you now this is a scam, kind of. 2 years ago I had an online payday loan. Due to financial problems I was unable to pay it, and they company I received the load from sold my loan. Each company that sells the loan, is buying it for pennies on the dollar from the last company, so they will go to any length to collect on the debt. I told the original company I would pay them, and they couldn't accept the money because they had sold it off. So, unfortunately from time to time I have to deal with these "thug" like tactics. If they actually show up on Friday to serve me papers I'll be very surprised. - JH| 1 replyThis guy called with a doomsday type call..I called back three times and got answering machine. He said i'm on his schedule and he is practically on his way over here..i called back to inform him that he should call ahead as i have 2 German Shepherds that don't like surprises. He should also come with the police or i will turn them loose. If he's with the police i will have my FBI agent brother with me..That way there's no issues.I can be served and we can go about our business.
Total scam,,Nobody who is about to serve you is going to give you advance notice..If it's a car company they just repo.. 99.9% of all unsecured debt never ends up in court.- Caller: who knows

- Brandy| 1 replyI received a voicemail on 1/24/12 from a girl named Candace Lee who left this # as a callback #. She didn't state the name of her company, but claimed that she was coming to my home on today to serve me. Her ignorant tail also ended her voicemail by stating my name, followed by stating that I'd been served. It takes a dumb individual to tell another individual that they've been served over the telephone! (duh???) Well, I received another voicemail from Candace Lee stating that she was on her way to my home to serve me. She also stated that she'd contacted references and my place of employment (little did her dumb ass know, I have no place of employment), which truly led me to believe that it's some bs. When I called the # back with my so-called reference #, I was placed on hold until a man who sounded as if his desire is to be a woman (I could detect it in his voice) got on the line and had the nerve to be rude. I simply informed his dumb tail that if anyone does come to my home, the door will not be opened and that he, his company, and his tactics can go to hell. He was very unprofessional (although I could sense that he was really trying to be professional), unclear as to what this was even about, and he possessed the tone of that that resides in the hood. My recommendations, DO NOT GIVE THESE HOODRATS ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION!!!

- "Sheryl Adams"| 1 replyPlease go to your state's attorney general's office. Below is the complaint I submitted today. Names have been changed.
I have received calls to my home phone number for a GEORGE SMITH. I believe he lived at the address previously. Despite our voicemail stating that it is the residence of KEVIN and SHERYL ADAMS, the representative continues to leave a message for GEORGE SMITH. After the first call, my husband called the return number and left a message, stating that their records are incorrect and requesting they stop calling.
The representative states that she is calling to notify SMITH that he will be served at his work or home tomorrow, and that he should make himself available for service. My husband and myself both being attorneys, we found such a call to be a curious step for a claimant to take in serving process, to say the least.
Seeing as it would be a massive coincidence if, when GEORGE SMITH lived at our current address, he had the same number that was issued to us after we moved in (and seeing as we have not received previous calls for SMITH), we believe that the caller is unable to locate SMITH, and has looked up the phone number(s) matching his previous residence(s). The calls are an effort to fish for updated contact information for SMITH with no care for the privacy of SMITH or of the call recipients. We see these calls as in violation of the FDCA in at least two ways: 1) NCO is disregarding the information they have received that we're not him. 2) NCO appears to have not sent a notice of intent in writing.
Please note the following thread on this collector. It appears they are targeting people in Pennsylvania and Ohio. https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-229-7865/2
If it would be of assistance, I do have a recording of the messages that were left yesterday and today.

- Sabrina Livingston| 1 replyAfter getting 3 calls in the last 2 days from a "restricted" number and having a friend call me stating they received a call yesterday about me "being served", I answered the "restricted" call today. I asked where I could go to pick up the papers she referenced and all she could tell me was that she was a third party and I had to call 1-888-229-7865 to get further information. I called that number and immediately asked for a company name and address. They said they were the Civil Claims Bureau but refused to give me any further information. I asked if they were a government agency and they said "no". After I insisted on an address, I was transferred from person to person after I asked the same question. Nobody would give me a company address. They said I was being sued for fraud by a "network of attorneys". When I said I wanted proof of debt and an address so I could exercise my right to dispute, they told me I could pay them or go to court. I again requested the name of the company whom owned this alleged debt; they told me it was a network of attorneys. I said that attorneys must have fallen on hard times to create a network just to buy fake debt and asked for the name of the attorneys. I was given a name of "attorney Cigeralo out of New York". (I made her spell the name twice.) I searched the name online as I was on the phone and had no results. Throughout the conversation I repeatedly confirmed the call was recorded and disputed any alleged debt they had and asked for the name and address of who supposedly owned this "debt". They refused to provide that information. I confirmed several times that the call was being recorded as they had told me when when they answered and every time they confirmed it was I said that I wanted proof of the debt mailed to me and wanted them to give me a name and address so I could send a certified return receipt letter to them disputing it as is my legal right. Each person I spoke to either asked me to hold and transferred me or hung up on me after saying that I would just be served.
My call went from "Mr. Lowery" to "Sabrina Livingston" to "Mr. James Sullivan". Nobody would provide me the name and address of anybody who was supposedly claiming I owed anything. I did give them the last 4 digits of my soc but when they provided the first I refused to confirm. I never provided anything more than my first name and their "claim number" other than that.
They refused to provide me an address or allow me to dispute or to mail me anything proving any debt. I know that even if I owed somebody at some point in time that was left unpaid, those are my rights. "Sabrina" even told me at one point that if it was attached to my social security number, I most certainly owed it. They will do anyhing to extort money from anybody at any time. These tactics scare people, I'm sure, especially people who do not know their rights.
You have a right to dispute and a right to proof of debt in writing. Exercise them.
As for me, I have the number written down. I plan to call every day with my number blocked and ask for a company name and address. After all, I represent somebody who would like to make sure they get a sealed document. - peter replies to jenDO NOT PAY--it's a scam
