- Chuck| 1 replyI got a "Private Number Calling" and like a fool, answered it. The woman said she was from T-mobile (my provider) and my account was about to be suspended unless I made an immediate payment. This sounded odd, since I keep my T-mobile account current. I gave her my Visa info, again like an ass. I then called T-mobile who confirmed they had not called me. I quickly called Visa and there were three charges already on my account (2 for $54.13 and 1 for $75.78. Visa has closed the account and I have to submit the fraud paperwork to get the charges reversed (60-90 days).

- Kay in Texas replies to Cody| 4 repliesMy mother had also ordered from amazon.com
- owm in Raleigh| 2 repliesNo phone call just the charges being deducted from my bank account. I talked to both Verizon and my bank after the first charge. Verizon said they would investigate, my bank said to see what Verizon could do. The second charge showed up yesterday. I called Verizon back and they said they would make a note of my call.
Today I cancelled my credit card. Why is anyone letting these charges go through without indentification. Someone is getting rich.
Any suggested actions? - ted in californiai also had these charges appear in my statement... if you bank with Bank of America, they took care of it imediately. They are aware of it. three charges in one month...75.95....60.18......75.32

- VIIToday was the first time I had ever ordered from Amazon.com. Suprise, suprise...this number called me just hours after my order. I did not answer the call but returned the call and was connected to a Verizon call center in IL. I refused to give them my security code and they said they could not help me without this information. Luckily I had googled the number before I called. Thank you everyone who may have just saved me a headache!
- jamieThis number shows up everytime i make a payment on my prepaid card, they never never have takin anything else out but my payment. I think it is verizon also. I always pay over the phone and have never had a problem for the past year, the first statement i ever got and the first payment i made on my card (which has to be set up) said VZWRLSS*ECARS OT 888-294-6804 CA. so i cant actually say that its a fraudulant number ive had the same phone for over a year and noting bad has happened. That number did call me today though so now ill be monitering my account.
- kygoodwinn replies to Kay in Texas| 2 repliesI too have been had by this my bank account was charged twice on 1/6/08 one for 15.90 and the other 249.10 this left my bank in the whole I reported it to my bank and they are investgating it, but in the mean time I also am doing what I can do to find out anything that I can.I called verizon wireless and they in ivestedgated and told me that it is not their company that it has to be a small company using their name as part, or a fraud. If anyone finds out anything about this company could you please email me at kygoodwinn@yahoo.com
- Irma| 1 replyI was charged $25.00 in my bank card and a total of $156.49 in a Sears gold mastercard that I have used in years. The statement was broken down into different transactions for vzwrlss*ecarsot. I called Verizon and they transferred my to their fraud department, but not much help. I cancelled my credit cards and now hoping that I do not have to pay the bill.

- Oregon1| 1 replyMisery loves company. It would be good to hear updates from the early contributors- did you get money back from your banks? I just cancelled my card because of these pending charges:
CHKCARDVZWRLSS*ECARS O888-29404 CAUS- $250
CHKCARDTEXACO El Paso USUS for - $20
CHKCARDBAKERSFIELD BLILOS ANGS CAUS - $101 (Wells Fargo told me it's listed as Bakersfield Blitz in LA but I can't find such a business online).
***Note: It's safer to cancel than wait. The first employee at Wells Fargo told me the pending charges were probably 'erratic system glitches' and that I should wait until the charges 'disappear' by morning.
His answer satisfied me for about an hour until I logged on again and saw more debits. It's not worth waiting. The next person I talked to at Wells Fargo said the VZW charges already had 'counterfeit flags' on them and she helped me close the card down (which fortunately doesn't close your checking account, just the card).
Here's my stats: I have never purchased from Amazon and my card is primarily used locally in Oregon for groceries, gas, restaurants. BTW-my card was not stolen and I haven't gotten any strange calls, just strange 'junkmail' text messages over the past couple of days. Where the hell did they get my bankcard number? Verizon is my carrier but like mentioned earlier, they knew nothing about this.
Later, M - meileiI tried to use my credit card which had never been stolen or misplaced and it was denied. I called the company and they had placed a hold on the card due to possible fradulent charges. The card company advised me that someone most like got ahold of my card number but not the expiration date as there were 8 1$ charges....which is what tipped them off. The CSR told me that they see this when someone is fishing for the expiration date on the card. They immediately cancelled the account and will be investigating the charges. I still have to fill out the paperwork to get the charges reversed. Don't wait if you see these charges, cancel the account immediately. At minimum keep an eye on anyother accounts and also report the fraud to the 3 credit reporting agencies.
Also, as an interesting "coincidence", I started receiving calls from two other CA numbers about a "car warrarnty extension", which from other number searches, it also seems like a scam. The numbers that I have received calls from are 402-651-8199 and 562-289-8136 - billy| 1 replyDid not get a call but have had 3 charges of $20,$20,and $30 on my card. Cancelling tomorrow AM and will try to get money back.
- prepaid phone userI use verizon and got a call from this phone number twice. I did not pick up the phone either time because I thought it would be a telemarketer.
- Carole in CA replies to kygoodwinn| 1 replyA charge has shown up on my credit card for several months with the transaction described as VZWRLSS*ECARS OT 888-294-6804 CA. As you know, when you dial that number, you get an automated answer only, and are required to input the cell number, which of course you don't have! This charge was made by someone using my credit card number and adding minutes to their Prepaid Cell account with Verizon. I did call Verizon's Prepaid dept at 800-821-8989, explained the situation, and was told I must contact my credit card company and report this as fraud in order to have the charge cancelled. Verizon can't help, or tell me the cell number in question.

- maria replies to Kay in Texaswaw - me too - i had used Amazon 2...!!!!!
- Maria replies to mariaWell Verizon say they can't do anything and the manger was advised by his manager to tell me to cancel my credit card and ask cr.cd company for refund. Which I did. Thankfully Chase Fraud Dept were very helpful
