- Banker oneI work in the fraud department of a bank and we traced these charges back to Folsum State Prison. We do not know how they are hacking the debit card numbers. but they are the ones buying the prepaid cards. Verizon has NOT been helpful with this and these theives know that the bank eats any charges under $25 (VISA will not dispute anything under that amount) so our bank is eating a lot of these. DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS ONLINE!!!!
- samanthaI have this charge on my card also, 15.94 twice in the same day. once i put minutes on my little brothers phone for him but that was months ago! i think they just kept my card on file and charged it when he called to put minutes on. luckily my brother is honest and offered to repay me the money, but it did overdraw my account and i have to pay a fee :(

- lizjun replies to nickThis also happened to my husband. Yesterday we received a text message that a charge from VZWRLSS*ECARS was made from his debit credit card. I hope somebody does something quick, Since I couldn't talk to anybody at VZWRLSS we cancel his debit card before they took everything.
- Chuck replies to Just another girlThanks a million for taking your time to put up this message.
- MAD replies to mark- verizon wireless prepaid rep| 3 repliesYou are full of it. If verizon has so many "protections" against fraudulent use of a credit card, why are there so many people that have been scammed!! Of course the cs reps(you)see the entire cc number and security code when given. Nice try. What are you thinkin!!! What if Verizon let's them open the account with the stolen credit card? Oh, then everything is ok?? I've always hated verizon and their customer service and wouldn't own a plan or prepaid phone with that company, but now because of the lack of protection of the verizon prepaid service, I have charges on my credit card from a company I despise! This company should investigated.
- Kristin FI have not received a call from this number, but VZWRLSS*ECARS showed up on my account. Turns out my brother used my account because it asked him for information, but he did not realize they were charging him. Thank goodness I looked up this description and found this post. I just canceled my card and got a new number, so I cant be charged either if the number is still in the system or for fraudulent reasons. Thanks!!!
- nucman replies to MADYou are so full of it. This is a scam

- cougladToday, this so called merchant vzwrlss*ecars ot cued payment for more than $100 from my account. My bank gave me the # 1-888-294-6804 to call verizon wireless. Yes, the number says is for verizon wireless, but none answers it. Also, I am not a verizon subscriber. It asked me to provide the wireless number I am calling from. From where can I get a verizon wireless number when I am not their subscriber? I would like to know how you all resolved this issue and gotten your cash back. Thanks.

- Beth H| 1 replyi wasn't called by this number but I was told to call it by credit card fraud services. I was called this afternoon regarding some unusual charges and I was told to call that number. I don't know what to think about this. It's not the first time it has happened to me, more like the 50th (no exaggeration) I can no longer have a debt card, it's been compromised too many times.
- natasSeems they have been doing this to me for over a year. $1500.00 in overdraft charges from them. Bank says so sad to bad, verizon same thing.
- hello| 1 replyisnt the Bank FDIC Insured?
Doesn't this mean if money is Lost or stolen
the Bank is Insured to Replace it up to 100,000
or whatever the insurance limit is.
So if the Bank does not replace it, Lawsuit,Right. - Beth replies to mark- verizon wireless prepaid rep| 3 repliesI must disagree with this. My daughter used my credit card to put minutes on her Verizon phone. We live in different states and have different names. It just showed up on my statement today so it did go through. I didn't know what it was at first but I did allow her to do this so I'm not concerned but your statement that Verizon won't process a payment from a credit card with a different name than the account isn't true.
- Got hit 2DISPUTE CHARGES AND CANCEL YOUR CARD!
This happened on a new credit card less than 2 months old. Never used over the phone. I also found charges to 2 cable companies plus a replenishment for nextel. The total would be almost 500 bucks. I have disputed the charges and canceled the card. - Victim replies to nickThis is a major SCAM. After talking to Verizon Wireless I discovered that they DOUBLE CHARGE you if you add prepaid minutes online. Seems so easy, so quick, right? Sure it's quick. The operator claims that the duplicate sum is REIMBURSED WITHIN 72 HOURS. DO NOT BELIEVE IT! I double checked my bank statements and realized that over many months, if I have renewed minutes online using my card I am charged twice and NOT - DEFINITELY NOT - REIMBURSED. My advice - cancel any card you have on record online. Notify your bank if, like me, you were "foolish" enough to use a debit card. This is a VERIZON WIRELESS SCAM. I am owed something in the region of $200 and I intend to notfiy any regulatory organization of this blatant, daylight ROBBERY.
Please do the same. - Donna replies to Just another girlThank you..I was livid when I saw a strange company taking money out of my account unanounced..it was from a pre-paid verizon phone minutes..I did purchace it for minutes on my phone..relieved!!
- Santeebear in NYThere will be a call, I let it go because I see it is an 888 number - 1-888-294-6804, a "WATTS" line, and wait for my answering machine to pick up. Which it does, and then hangs up because no one is there. My answering machine is voice activated. This is the second time I have been hit, this time for 18 charges of 16.22. The first time it took from the middle of June until September for me to catch up with it, because I was away. But - here is the difference, my bank charged VZWRLSS ECARS OT FOLSOM CA, and they (Verizon)disputed the fraud complaint, and charged the charges back to my account. You can do the math, it's pushing $300 this time, and was a lot more the first time.
I have contacted a fraud reporting agency. I am meeting with the fraud unit of my bank, and will be contacting the appropriate law enforcement authorities. Since this is across state lines, I believe it becomes a Federal Matter.
I am retired, on disability, and very scared at this point.
This is not my first post on this site.
