Merchant services scam.  "Melinda" claimed to be calling about a refund of your PCI charges on our merchant account.  We do not use this company, nor do we do business with shady characters robo-dialing us from an unidentified 888 number.  If we were due a credit, our merchant service provider knows how to handle that process--not an outside company!  This is a dishonest business practice to get you to change to a provider that doesn't charge for PCI.  If you attempt to redial this number, you are greeted with a male who does not identify his "business" when he answers.--(Todd Tear? spelling)

Called to say we were overcharged on our statement and owed a refund. they are not our provider and caller wanted details about our account! Scam!! New sales tactic trying to convince you they are the ones you do business with!

Caller Lance Moore ext 1408 identified his company as "Merchant Services" and claimed that a few of our PCI red flags could be reversed if I sent him a copy of our activity statement.  He said we needed it so he could walk me through having the charges removed on the next statement.  I told him that our local office does not handle these accounts and he would have to have our account rep call our corporate office.  Today is the third day in a row he has called and each time his message increases the urgency in which he needs the statement copy.  I assume this is a scam since any legitimate company could look up their own activity statement.

"Keith Morgan" called our ambulance service saying that we were overcharged for the months of November and December. Our treasurer called them back and a woman answered and kept her on hold for a very long time and then when she was about to hang up "Keith Morgan" was suddenly available. He was very rude and would not give us any of the details or how they were affiliated with us; he kept asking us for our number instead of accepting the name of our business. He said he would just have to call the number he called before to get the answers he needed because "Clearly you don't know what you're supposed to know." He nor anyone else from that number called back.
I looked up the number he gave me and they don't have a website they have a recently opened file with the Better Business Bureau. It, however, has no information aside from a number and an address in Texas.

This is one of several of these calls we have received at our place of business.  I have them posted on our wall. This is a scam. It  is an attempt to get you to divulge your merchant information (merchant number), and  "scalp" you from your current Credit Card Merchant account and go to their company. It's "just" above board enough to not be a scam . . . but it is incredibly deceitful.  The first thing you need to ask is: "Are you from "XYZ" (your merchant service name who takes care of your terminal and account)  If they hem haw around or answer "no", you know they are third party merchants.  Also, if you go a little further, they will ask you for your "merchant  number".  This is when you still think they are checking YOUR current merchant account for an overpayment.  This is where I drew the line the first time. I asked them why they couldn't just check the statement themselves if they overcharged us? Why would I have to get that information if  it was on an account THEY had access to.  Don't let them get that far and waste your time. To get them off the phone, I ask for their name, phone number and extension. I tell them I need to check my statement and get back with them. If they bulk at this, they are really scammers. They usually are polite and give the info.  You then check out the number and print out all complaints about the number, there will be lots of them.  They will call a few days later, maybe more than once. You need to be armed with this information to shut them down.  Don't let them get a word in.  Be strong. They are WRONG.

"Linda" calls and sounds very trusting. Asks about our merchant accounts and says that our business has been over charged. Told her I dont have the statements on hand. Then tells me to call merchant services and get it from them. She gives me her number and ext "1419". Called our actual merchant account and explained to her what was going on. She said its a scam and that they would never call about charges and ask us for information'; they would already have the billing information infront of them. Called "linda" back and guy picks up speaking super fast "todd tear"? Just shady man.

Tried to get us, too.  Tammy Davis at extension 1403.  "Our January credit card fees were over-charged as non-PCI compliant."

I was asked to provide my January & February merchant statements because we were over charged on the merchant fees.  She said they should be 2% or less.  I'm leery, so I looked up the phone number and found all of these comments about it being a SCAM, so THANK YOU to all who do this.  Without you, there would be more vulnerable people complying with these jerks!

Received a questionable call from Lance Moore from Merchant Support about a refund of fees on our merchant

you are correct and they claim to be with the company "Top Tier" in the billing correction department for merchant services. They claim to be reversing charges on an overcharging of fees and wanted me to read my statements to them.  I had her spell out the company name and her name several times. I told her we use Square and we do not use merchant services. She asked me to excuse this call and she will mark my number as invalid. :)  People are deceptive and tricky and so smooth. Beware!!!

Wanted to correct some charges to us. Didn't know proper names to talk to. Don't mention your system if you do they oh yeah and act like they know.

I just got a call from Linda, very good she is...lol same number and everything.  It was like she knew all about my statement...lol  we have been over billed on our fees and we are to be credited back all the way from June of last year.  She even gave me a claim# PCI08407.
