I don't believe they are trly lups charity. I think this is a telemarketing service, and if you donate they get a certain percentage. No truly legal corporation will call several times a day and not say a word. They just called, I said This is why I put my phone on do not disturb with verizon most of the time and hung up.. Problem is when you put a number on block they seem to be able to bypass the block, as I put this number on block and it still came through.

I've donated before-they have a marked truck and leave a donation card on the door.
I also donate to Vets, am one myself and am not disabled but a lot of this clothing goes to homeless guys. With so many guys coming back from Afghanistan soon the homeless situation will increase. There are no jobs for a man (or woman) who has worked with people that can be trusted, work together, special skills.
I'll give to anyone who puts stuff back into service (recycle) that some would throw in the trash.

We received calls from this number almost every day, from three to six calls a day and night. They don't leave any message on the answering machine and when I answer they cut the communication. I called this number and it appears to be a Lupus Service of some type. It's there any Law to stop these constant calls ? please help.
    Thanks

The block is working on my end. However I question if some devices/services have a bug of sorts that allows calls to come through if they change the caller id info. So it could be something as simple as changing they name that appears with the call and by doing that, it overrides the block.

I contacted the FTC about just this and it appears the loophole in the the DNC registry allows them to call even if you tell them not to.

As other users of this forum have pointed out, they are a VERY persistent charity!

I have this caller configured to get a bona fide SIT tone followed by a “this number is not in service” recording. They STILL call me at least ONCE A DAY regardless! I can’t possibly imagine the cost of the bandwidth they consume by calling EVERY possible number combination regardless of its service status! If they’re lucky, the Lupus foundation might see a whopping 10 percent!

    Hang up on them
Hi.   There is no hope to stop these calls!!   Anytime I see an 800 or 888 number, I simply pick up and hang up!   I notice now that you buy something and the first thing they ask you at the check out is for your phone number!  This happened at Pier One.   I told them I was paying cash and NO BODY gets my phone number anymore.  We just give this information to strangers like mindless sheep.    You also cannot donate to ANYTHING without being on a mailing list, a calling list or getting 50 emails a day.   My wife gave to Peta once and I got S*&T for years.  IT IS ALL OUR FAULT !!!  Stop donating, stop giving our your phone number.

Didn't recognize the number, didn't pick up.  It's getting to the point that I don't pick up on any calls from 800, 855, 866, 888 etc.  Caller disconnected after six rings.  Reading previous post, I discovered it's Lupus.

I am devious.  I keep them on the phone for up to 20 minutes while I pretend to look for information and get details and I  tell  them I am 92 years old so they have to be patient.  I ask questions over and over   I tell them to hold on for a few minutes and I just leave them hanging.   Finally I yell FYOU into the phone and hang up.  My little sick mind.

No organization that uses a caller ID of "Out of area," as this one routinely does, can possibly be honest.  Save your money.

Put this number and others like it on your Blocked list before you go so far as to change your number.  Careful maintenance of a Blocked list will go a long way toward getting rid of these calls.  Some land line hand sets will allow you to block numbers.  You cell phone provider offers this service for a fee in the $5/mo. range.  When you get the "list full" message, delete that list and start a new one with the numbers these pests are currently using.

The fact is I have made repeated requests to be put on their do not call list and they have not done so. As far as
I am concerned, this is not an honorable organization. Otherwise they would have stopped calling.

I received another call from these telemaggoters. I find it appalling that this so called charity has the nerve to continue to call even though I have requested to be put on their do not call list on several occasions. Every time I have made this request, they give me the same line by saying they will give the information to their supervisor. I have never donated to this inconsiderate organization and based on my experience I never will!

IMHO, if they are on the up&up,show your name on caller ID.
Until then you get nothing from me.

This is the second call from these telelmaggoters. As with the last call, it rang once and the phone ended the call. They obviously don't understand English.

This operation called twice in lean than a week. In my opinion this is not a worthy cause.

Apogee, a for profit agency (Unique Thrift Stores), under contract with Lupus, who receives very tiny percent of the value of your donation. Requesting that they put you on their internal do not call list does not work. What a continuous scam.
While they are legally soliciting for a registered charity, I urge everyone who wants to to donate clothing or household goods to find a charity that gives the items, or profit from their sale, directly to the needy.
