- MR niceguy is a SCAM Artist replies to deleted post| 2 repliesHe is the one calling you. They buy old debts for pennies and try to scare you into paying. Don't pay them! Report them to your state's Attorney General's Office and to the Federal Trade Commission ( FTC dot Gov )
- Jim replies to deleted postJustin lies! These are bottom feeding debt collectors trying to scare people into paying. Report them to the FTC ad ftc dot gov.
- Jim replies to deleted postAnother post from the bottom feeder trying to scare people. LOL
- Jim replies to deleted post| 1 replyThey are UNLICENSED debt collectors. Constables, Sheriffs and Process Servers don't collect money but bottom feeding debt collectors like this do collect money from people that don't know any better. DON'T PAY THIS SCUM. Not paying a debt is not a crime. Violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer IS A CRIME.
- Jim replies to deleted postAmanda don't lie to everyone! But tell us, what is it like to work with a bunch of convicts? Anyone been stuck by needles in that basement full of phones? Remind your coworkers to let the crack pipes cool before putting them away.
- mei called this number back off of the number that had called my cell phone& woke the guy up that answered the phone. i called back 3 times spaced out over an hour, the last time i called, around 4 am, the guy called me by my first name& told me to quit calling him. i called the police dept here& gave them the #. not that they were interested, but this guy is a scamming freak.
- scottthis company is calling and acting like they are legal people threatening me with a summons on a bill that was pd 4yrs ago!!! i told them to quit calling me and they still do,what can i do about this???
- JoyceI received two calls from these people claiming a complaint has been filed against me and to call back. They also called my work and spoke to another person about suing me...can they really do this?? I can't stand these a**holes!!!!!! If you continue these people u will get busted!
- MB| 1 replyI received the call about 2 months ago saying they were going to serve me if I didn't pay the full amount that day. I unfortunately couldn't pay the full amount and they didn't want to work out any deals then, so I ignored it expecting a summons (since they knew where I worked) and never heard anything until today. They called and said they have been trying to summon me to court. The man gave me a 888 # with a case number. I called the number and they answered with "Corporate". I talked to a man and he told me that I could pay half today and half by the end of the month. I told them I would consider it and call back within the hour. After talking to a friend I decided to call back and ask for their company name and address which is called LMP, but they refused to give me an address. I also asked if they could mail out proof of my debt with the details of our payment arrangement. They told me they could email it. I gave out my email address and still haven't received anything from them....I am very skeptical, but worried because I don't want this to become a bigger matter if I do not stick with the deal.
- Caller: LMP
- staci replies to deleted postYou seem pretty condescending for someone that was in the same boat. How dare you attack others for doing the same thing! Plus, I find it ironic that you typed the EXACT same message twice. Perhaps you work for this company and are just trying to make it sound legitimate.
- Staci replies to deleted postyou need to check your state law. The FDCPA regulates these guys, and in many states they can not garnish your wages.
- anonymous replies to MBThey're lying to you. If they'd intended to serve you and know where you work, you would have been served by now. They're only trying to scare you. Even if they were legit debt collectors, they're breaking many rules in the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf A real collector would accept other forms of payment like a check and not demand card payment over the phone. These guys are scammers. Why would any legit collector answer the phone with a generic "Corporate" instead of company name "LMP?" Do not be worried. Read up on the FDCPA and www.fair-debt-collection.com is also a great site.

The FDCPA forbids debt collectors from threatening debtors with jail. The FTC http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm states
"Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:
* you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt;
* they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or
* legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take the action." - anonymous replies to deleted postYou are so upset everyone's calling you a scammer shill. The FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf requires debt collectors to give debtors written notice of debt:
"§ 809. Validation of debts
(a) Within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing—
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) a statement that unless the consumer, within thirty days after receipt of the notice, disputes the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by the debt collector;
(4) a statement that if the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, the debt collector will obtain verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment against the consumer and a copy of such verification or judgment will be mailed to the consumer by the debt collector; and
(5) a statement that, upon the consumer’s written request within the thirty-day period, the debt collector will provide the consumer with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor."
You don't send paperwork, you break the law, I consider you a scam.

- anonymous replies to deleted postYou're a lying shill. Garnishments are done by courts and courts use the US mail, they don't fax court orders to employers.
- anonymous replies to deleted postNo, real debt collectors go about their business lawfully and get few complaints. Many complaints on the net are on scammers or abusive debt collectors that are treated like scammers because they behave like scammers.
- anonymous replies to deleted postYou're a lying shill. Paperwork has to be mailed, not faxed, to the debtor's local court to file a court case, not to "the constable of your county," and the court will issue a summons to be served by a court-appointed server or mailed.
- anonymous replies to deleted postYou're a lying shill. Banks do not "verify their credibility" of debt collectors.
- JenniI am sick of these people calling my number and leaving messages for someone that does not live here. I called these jerks back (they answered Corporate Office and when I demanded they give me their company name, he stated it was LM Partners) and they asked if the person was my spouse (my spouse died in 1999). When I said NO that person is not, then he demanded to know the persons relationship to me. When I said that is none of his business (because it is not) he became very rude and stated he will continue to call my number. I advised the person I will file harrassment charges if I get one more call!!!
