Every day at 5:30 when you answer no one is there @#$%^^$#@

Endless calls here in BC too. I checked with the National Do Not Call List Centre in Ottawa (www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/dncl/brochure_consumer.htm) and here's what they wrote:

"As the U.S. organizations are not under the Canadian
jurisdiction, the only way to stop the calls is to ask these
organizations, when they call you, to put your number on their own
internal Do Not Call List which they have as requested by the U.S.
federal laws.

However, Telemarketers from the US, and other countries, making calls
to Canadian consumers must still follow the CRTC’s Unsolicited
Telecommunications Rules, including the National DNCL Rules.

If a Canadian organization hires a telemarketing agency outside of
Canada, and there’s a complaint against the organization, it will be
investigated by the CRTC. If a telemarketer has violated the Rules,
the CRTC may impose a penalty of up to $1500 per violation for
individuals and up to $15,000 per violation for corporations.

Unfortunately, if neither the telemarketer nor the telemarketing
client has a Canadian address, it can be difficult to enforce the
Rules. The CRTC is investigating how it could enforce the Rules with
such companies."

So I think for Canadians to stop Sykes/ICT (ca.biz.yahoo.com/pz/100202/183395.html?.v=1) from pestering us on behalf of Capital One, we need to:

1. Register our numbers with the Canadian National Do Not Call List.

2. Try to add our numbers to whatever Do Not Call List the robots from Sykes/ICT offer and write down the date we did so.

3. Next time they call, make a complaint through the Canadian National Do Not Call List Centre. Then maybe the CRTC can nail Capital One Canada with some penalties.

This number calls me every single day usually twice but sometimes as many as 4 times.

you have to call them to remove your number from there list.

This pest(1-888-556-5158) has been bugging me for the whole year of 2010 at least 2-3 times daily. I never answered because I know its him(Indian ,Pakistan and the like) but its getting to be annoying and unnerving.  Whoever you are, GET A LIFE!

This number has been calling every single day twice or even three times. I dont answer, if my husband answer,he hangs up.I dont know what hes up to but but this calls are harassing. I even log a report to the police and have my number change.Hope this will work.To you, whoever you are why dont you go to the Foodbank and make use of your time to a more productive way?  Or go to a shelter and be of help there.

Yeah its ICT calling on behalf of Capital One. They call every couple days and ask for my husband. I tell them he's at work and ask if i can take a message, they ALWAYS say 'theres no message' and hang up. Sooo rude

Called, and said they were calling on behalf of capital one.... then some woman picked up, sounded like she was in foreign country.. must be a telemarketer tryign to sell you credit cards.

they call 4-5 times a day

I've been receiving multiple calls per day from this number and decided to phone back one day to find out who it's from. Turns out to be Capital One. Now I'm on the warpath to get my name off the list.

calls every day 3 or 4 times for about a year, never leaves a message, called it back to add number to Do not call list, also registered with National DNCL online, will see if this works. I guess its no cost or effort for a computer to keep calling but don't see how this will get people to become a customer of Capital One.

Well, I've also been trying anything plus "register myself/my phone number of Canada's DO NOT CALL LIST' - no results, still being called. I never take a call and never have. Did research about this telemarketeer , of course we all know that this CAPITAL ONE family of companies is behind this. At present trying to add a calling feature to my phone plan allowing me to screen out this 888-556-5158 number. The real point is this question: how do those phone nazi's got my phone number in the first place ? checking with all my banks etc. if they give out phone numbers to such criminal outfits. I keep a log now when they call and submit to RCMP white collar crime unit. What else ?  BTW - I had already turned off all my phones in the house, can only see on one phone this number displayed. There is a possibility that behind this outfit is hiding a terrorist cell here in Canada.

DNCL, Canada's  national DO-NOT-CALL list to put your number on, would not work, the government CRTC  simply submit those lists to the telemarketeers, however those people do not delete your phone from their list or automated phone system. There's the problem. NON-COMPLIANCE with the law.

Received a call asked for my girlfriend by name she wasn't home so I asked if there was a msg but the person said no I'll make a note of this.

I'm from  British Columbia & getting quite annoyed with these telemarking people calling me as well & when I don't answer they just persist on calling reguardless.  How would they like it if we called them at their home and harrased them just like they do to all of us.  I received a call this morning and someone asked for me & I told whoever was at the other end that I wasn't here.  He aplogized but don't think someone else won't be calling again.  It can be very frustrating and like everyone else who has put in their comments these people don't seem to have a life & have to ruin our lives just to sell their products.  We all know they won't stop but it really ticks me off like other comments I've read that we mostly run for the phone just to find out it's someone selling us stuff we really are not interested in.  So I give everyone that has commented a great big pat on their backs for voicing their opinions.

Folks, the call is from Capital One.  Woo, that 18.5 % interest rate is tempting!  I'm in Canada as well.

Telemarketing company is "Sykes" at 100 Brandwine Boulevard, Newtown, PA, U.S.  Please don't forget them on your Christmas card list this year.
