- KaylaJust got a recorded voice mail from this Elon company. When I called back they asked for my name. She was very rude when I asked her what company this was, and said she said she could not tell me intill I gave her my info to verify. She wanted my social, I refused to give it to her till she told me what this call was about. She said she couldn't. I told her I wouldn't give her any info then. She hung up. SCAM! Do not give these people your info. All she got out of me was my name, which they already knew due to the voicemail they left.

BBB pages lists them as US Bank, an accredited business with 2,276 complaints, 16 negative reviews, and a government action but they still get an A-?????: http://www.bbb.org/minnesota/business-reviews ... neapolis-mn-407
As the first party credit card issuer, I am not 100% certain they would be required to follow FDCPA laws. They are subject to regulation and have had one action brought against them by the CFPB. Therefore it is important to file reports and complaints:
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

I hung up. I called my bank and they are not at all associated. Be warned though, they had my name and which bank I use when they left messages.
- Marilyn Loy| 1 replyI got a call from 888-690-2848 - they said they were from US Bank so I called back and the first thing they asked for was my account # I told them I am not giving you my # and unfortunately I gave them my name and zip code but when he asked for the last 4# of ss # I hung up! My son works for us bank and they would never ask for my account # that's when you know it is a scam!
- Caller: Said US Bank
- Mara B replies to Marilyn LoyI did the exact same thing today. I gave them my name and they asked for my zip. I said no what company is this and they said US Bank. They then asked for the last four numbers of my SS and so I hung up as well. I just called because I wanted to see if they would say what everyone else was saying. Lol
- KarlaLeft message from card member services and actually had my name. Returned the call...was answered by Leticia (I think) who wouldn't give info in regard to message. Asked for my name and I replied...you should already know who I am. Asked for my number and I said look at your caller ID......She asked if I was going to give her my number so she could look up why I was called and I told her NO! She then said well have a nice day...I wished her the same and asked to have my number removed and not be called again.....

- PamelaGot a message left at 8:38 in the evening saying my name and to please call US Bank at the 888-690-2848 #. So yesterday morning I called and a fellow answered saying Card Services this is Max. I said I was returning a call to this # per a message that was left on the answering machine. He asked for my phone #, I gave that to him, then he asked for my name, which I gave to him and then he said "how may I help you?" I said you tell me, I'm returning your call. His response was "well I can't tell since this is an incoming call" I said well then I don't know what to tell you. He asked the name on the account so I responded with "which account?" he wasn't sure so I said, you know Dude I don't know you from Adam and I'm not giving you any additional information. I'll call my bank and deal with this directly" Interesting note, yesterday was a bank Holiday so I couldn't get an answer. Just please be aware and if you know of an older person, who may not be very savey about this sort of thing, please remind them not to give any personal info to anyone who calls on the phone.

- Not FooledI got the voicemail message from this number saying they were usbank and they wanted me to call them back about my account. The number didn't show up as usbank in my phone so I called the number I had for usbank. They said it wasn't them and I had no notes in any of my accounts so I gave them this number so they can flag it.

- Jeannie replies to ChristineThanks for this comment.
I DO have a credit card account with Elan Credit Card Services, so your message prompted me to contact them. They told me I did the right thing. The caller at 888-690-2848 started off by asking for my credit card number. I asked WHICH credit card were they calling about. They said they couldn't give me that information until AFTER I gave them some information, including my card number and name. I bluntly told them that I do not give out private information when I don't even know who is calling me. AGAIN they said they were Cardholder Services and couldn't tell me anything more until I gave them info! I told them they were nuts if they thought I was giving them ANY information when they couldn't even tell me what company they were with. Then I told them to put me on a do-not-call list and I hung up.
That's when I called my credit card company and they said that was the right thing to do.
Do not EVER give out sensitive information, including your name or address (and certainly not your credit card number), to anyone calling like that! If they call you, or if they leave a message asking you to call them back, it is THEIR responsibility to make sure you know who they are, not the other way around. Then, even if they tell you who they are you should still hang up and call the customer service number directly yourself. If they have called you, you really have NO way to know it is legitimate, even if they give you a call-back number. Call the number on your bill or credit card directly yourself!!!! - Jeannie replies to BrunoSeems VERY odd because I don't have an account with US Bank, yet I was given the same number to call.
Perhaps this is some kind of agency that works for a variety of different credit cards, but as I posted above, my company said it is best to hang up and call your credit card company directly if you have ANY doubts at all! - Jon KFRAUD! I returned the call and gave them my name and phone number. They told me that they were calling in regards to my Visa bank card (and they knew the actual name of the bank). The Rep told me that he was unable to tell me what the problem was and needed the actual card number. I told him that this is called "phishing" and that I would call the number listed on the back of the card. I called the REAL Card Member Service 800# and they said that there was "Absolutely no problem". I will be reporting this number (and an additional number that the idiot Rep gave to me) to the Better Business Bureau (maybe FBI)?

- HSReceived this call on 6/16/16, saying it was on behalf of US Bank. When I called back, they immediately asked for my bank account info. When I asked them to verify which bank they were calling on behalf of, the call was immediately terminated. Scam.

- Dave replies to lily| 1 replyDon't know what On Star is? Really Lily? No TV or Radio there? Yet you are internet savvy! Hmmm? Countless commercials over the years on this! It is the wireless communication device installed on GM cars and trucks that you can communicate with for directions, breakdown assistance, automatic contact to rescue services if in an accident, unlock your car if you lock your keys in it. All done via through satellite.
- ALThis number has called me 3-4 every day this week. I have a credit card with US Bank so I thought they were the real deal.
