My mother has been getting constant phone calls on her fairly new phone number (pay as you go). The number is 888-710-4273. Have no idea what the company name is, the people speak fairly good English until YOU start asking questions. Keep asking for timothy so my mom tells them you have the wrong number, i dont know timothy, stop calling ect. They started arguing with her and saying she is hiding timothy from them...they wont say why other than he owes them.she asked one of the operators, Rachel, if she could speak to a supervisor. they put her on hold for a few minutes and then the same girl picked up the phone claiming to be a supervisor. these people are insanely rude and wont stop calling us. Wont take us of their list, and just talk us in circles for five minutes...wtf?!

Yes, yes, another news article warning about sewer service and illegally obtained debt judgments, none of which is reflected in your vague story, the actual theme of which is to punish the victim. Your treadworn scolding against "running away from debt" is incongruous. People cannot be on the run from a court case *they know nothing about*, which is the whole point of a sewer-served ambush. You want everyone to collapse into hopeless inertia just because of one rude jerk on the phone making ridiculous threats. We don't all have to be foolish like the character you're playing. We have rights and options. Here's a taste .....

Collection bullies on the phone "get away with" only as much as people allow them to. They don't last two rounds against an informed and calm alleged debtor. Please stop offering a not much related August 2012 Time mini-article as quasi-proof that your defeatist attitude is the only valid reaction.

Little bit of disinformation going on here. Having a concerned Florida debt collector giving solutions is, u know! Can't find company under name given but did find a NJ BBB F rating report for like name http://www.bbb.org/new-jersey/business-review ... ld-nj-90127886/  then the big red flag alarm system monitoring as a part of Vivint Inc
http://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/burg ... ovo-ut-22300608 and then next shows out of business but you're dealing with debt collectors,
and we know being out of business never stops them.

And I received a package of moon rocks.  It should be obvious to you if you "know the law" that I did receive a package.

Au contraire! The callers have the burden of proof to show that not only do you owe money, but that you owe that money to them!  Refusal to do so is a violation of the FDCPA and per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to mail a debt validation letter and proof that you owe them money.  Also, threatening people with fraud, charges, wage garnishment etc is yet another violation of the FDCPA.  Looks like the poster isn't the idiot here.

Same here, work for an atty and I assumed  that it was common knowledge that you cannot be garnished without the creditor first getting a judgement and even after that its not just that simple, although that is the first step.   While they do not scare me, they irritate me, calling at work and cell at the same time and when I ask for a copy of the original debt she called me a thief and told me to log on to the PDL website and get a copy.  I rec'd  a letter from the State of WI  Dept of Finance that assured me that without providing a copy of the original debt the collectors are required to stop all collection action immediately.  The State also informed me that I should transfer such calls to fax machines or just fwd to voice mail (hard to do when they call non stop) and by no means give out any information.

UNFORTUNATELY places like this claim they are not collection agencies but are "mediators" thus this does not apply to them (so they say).  In any case my attorney and the attornies I work with have assured me of what I thought to be true already--when someone wants to serve you with papers for a court date, they serve you. They don't call you for months in advance trying to "arrange an appointment" to drop off the papers/file, they do not by any means require your "supervisor to witness the serving of papers", etc etc etc.  I have unfortunately been legit sued in the past and they came to my house and served me papers. They did not call me before or after to see if I was available or to "make a statement for their records".  The story is the same no matter who calls me, the same silly script "a file has come across my desk and you must make a statement before I come to your place of employment or home to drop off the case file to you" etc etc etc.  Police have also confirmed that this is no different than an unpaid credit card bill or electric bill-it is a civil, not criminal act, and the police do not get involved nor would you ever go to jail for not paying an online payday loan!  Try not to let them scare you ==I get great joy in trying to have a battle of wits with the callers, most don't know what to say the moment my response deviates from their script and end up hanging up.  One girl actually told me that she learned from me and asked if she could call me back on her lunch hour. Seriously pathetic...but true.

Try looking online for your state's financial bureau-I have actually filed complaints with some of these places and one in particular which was filed aganst Arrowhead LLC resulted in them being ordered, by the State of WI, to wipe out any so called balance and never contact me again.  The state will really go to bat for you--they have also suggested I file a complaint with the FTC and consumer protection agencies.    Eventually they will go away--beleive me..sadly been in this mess on and off for a few years with various places.

They said that I owed a company that I had never been on the website or been contacted by. They called and harrassed my mother and sister saying they would have to go to court over this matter. I asked them for the phone number of the company that is accusing me of this. They said they didn't have it and that the only way they communicated with them was thru email, they said they couldn't provide me with any of that information. They said they were going to come up here to my work place and serve it and that it would require a supervisor to sign the form. I asked how they got my sister's number and I asked how they did that they said they got it from someone else. I asked how they got my checking account and I said how did you get that we got it from some where and wouldn't tell me who or where they got it.

Please see the numerous posts on this and file complaints appropriately.  Also consider a call blocker as mentioned above too. One important thing to remember if these losers have any of your personal information such as your social security number, date of birth or drivers license make sure you register with identity protection notify the credit agencies as well as your banks!!

Just received another call at my office from 888-710-4273, ARM about a claim against me which was paid to the original creditor over 2 years ago. The original call was last week and I explained that the debt was paid. The rep said they'd notate the record. Today, I spoke with a Stephanie and told her that I spoke with someone last week and that they were not to contact me again at work or at home. She had nothing in the record that they spoke with me last week. I then asked her for a call-back number to give to my lawyer and she gave me, 888-710-4273 and when I asked for their mailing address, she told me to have my lawyer call them. When I said no, I wanted the mailing address, she hung up on me. I tried calling back and after 12 rings, a voicemail picked up stating that all reps were busy and to leave a message and they'd get back to me.

Once again this is how it works no agency unless they are a law firm and they own the residual rights to a debt can pursue you in court the client will run an asset retention report via a govt issue skip tracing tools to see if you have anything that may be liquidated to cover the loan it cost the company money to make money it has to be financially viable to pursue you basically if it doesn't make dollars to them it doesn't make sense

Guess what? You've run your bottom feeding ass in to me. You want to talk? Probably not.
I'm just one of many that will shut you down without having to take a second breath. You're a joke pal.
You're nothing. We eat your kind for lunch.  What you make in a hard week of scamming doesn't amount to what I leave a good waitress for a tip.
Talk, and nothing but talk. Dream on. You're not anything but a fraud. That's all you'll ever be. My cat eats better than you do.

Obvious methhead. Actually very common among those running extortion scams disguised as collections. This site is chock full of it, unfortunately. You're better off debating a brick wall.

I take it you work for them, because it isn't legitimate. These people are frauds, I have a lawsuit against one such group and if this company continues, I will sue them too. If they are legitimate, they are breaking every rule in the book concerning debt collection.
