- Paulie B.If you are a U.S. based Company, why are you calling me in Canada ??
And, I've already told one of your Moron operators that I am not interested in whatever you are selling.
I also said "Even if you are giving away free money, I don't want it from a Telemarketer". [***]..... - Dominic replies to DIGGIN FOR THE GOLDplusieur fois jai demander a avoir les papier et facture suite a MADETTE lol jamais jlai ai recu on me racroche au nez
- Wasn't Born YesterdayOne of your rights when dealing with Collections Agencies
Right off the bat
The first step a collection agency must take is to send you a written notice through the mail (email doesn’t count). This notice must include:
the name of the creditor (the person or business that says you owe them money)
the amount the creditor says you owe
the name of the collection agency and its authority to demand payment on behalf of the creditor.
After sending the notice, the agency must wait six days before it can contact you in person or by phone.- Caller: Metropolitan Credit Adjusters Ltd

- JohnI keep getting calls from this number saying I owe money but they will not provide a paper trail or an invoice. I always pay my debts but I will not provide a credit card number to pay a debt that I have no knowledge of (especially one that is, according to them, from 2009). I would like these calls to stop immediately unless there is some evidence of a legitimate debt owing.

- gophersgirl replies to DIGGIN FOR THE GOLD| 1 replyfact#123 nobody owes you any money whatsoever, you are not a debt collector but a scam artist and here is why: the consumer signs an agreement with a credit card company; the contract is solely with them! when a consumer doesnt pay the dept after 6months, they SELL the debt cents on the dollar and CLOSE the consumers file, No more DEBT, the sale price is therefor their final payment they receive, the contract does not get transferred over, you basically purchase the info, any money you collect from the consumer is your sole profit, the credit card company receives nothing, therefor trying to claim money from a consumer which they have no contract with you is illegal/ fraud! the high interest rates the creditcard company has is their profit from making up for the losses from the unpaying consumers, its a high risk business. BUUUT sometimes there are legit collectores out there that infact deal with debt ON BEHALF of the creditcard company with their sole income being a interest fee they charge, then yes you owe them money which will in fact go back to the creditcard company.
as in my dealing with you loosers: number 1 harassment and demeaning vocabulary is in fact against the law (consumer protection act), failure to prove that i owe you debt with my signature and your company name is impossible hence i dont owe you nothing, num 3 continueing to call me after the 6 years of statute of limitations has expired yet again is illegal and finally if i the consumer tell you to cease and desist with the phonecalls you must obey because any failure to neither frovide proof of debt, and harassment and not stopping calls after it has been requested by law voids any debt i have
ps i was a victim of identity theft, my ex took my cards just before he dumped me put them back in my wallet and heres the kicker he managed to change my mailing address so i never received a bill and you found me AFTER statute of limitations had expired.
on a final note: any human being who decides to become a collections agent must have psychological issues harassing and insulting individuals like me on a daily basis - your momma must have not loved you enough and now you take it out on victims, true there are idiots out there who dont pay their creditcards but yet again they dont have a contract with you they dont owe you anything either , its a high risk business you do, but yet again you purchase debt on cents on the dollar so by law the onlymoney you can ask for might be the purchase price if anything,
personally you can go [***] yourselves, cuz im the victim here> - CelticDragon replies to gophersgirlRiiiiight

- Peter replies to SharonDo NOT respond in any form with the creditor. Go out and buy "The Wolf at the Door: What to Do When Collection Agencies Come Calling" by Mark Anthony Silverthorn a lawyer who worked on behalf of said agencies but changed sides. Bottom line is they have no real power beyond putting fear into you. Once you know the real rules of the game, they can kiss off. Oh, this is a Canadian based book not American but should prove useful to our American friends.
Hope this h - Keith replies to DIGGIN FOR THE GOLDYes debts drop off your credit file within 6 years or so, and now there is a limit of 2 years from the date you make a last payment maximum the collector can collect.
Once the debt goes to collection you might as well let it go and not pay and wait out the 6 years.
Bill collectors are the biggest bunch of low lifes along with tow truck drivers, used car salesmen and bankers... - GrinchGot a call from that number, too. Did not answer it....never will.....
- So annoying| 1 replyI have literally just arrived in Canada 2 months ago on a working visa and they ring me weekly off different numbers, I have answered a couple of times but am usually working when they call. They want some guy called Tom, I'm a female with an accent and blatantly not Tom yet they wont believe me when I say wrong number and are persistent in calling me >:(

- Simple checks replies to DIGGIN FOR THE GOLDPlease have your database administrators check their purchases.
My name is Smith so that obviously means I am every Smith, male and female, who owes anything.
My name and associated number are listed, for many years, so it is extraordinarily frustrating to receive numerous calls, some automated, some fairly threatening when I am not the person in question.
It's not rocket science just ask Google, please! - SteveinBC replies to So annoyingI've experienced that. From the Vancouver office. Trying to pressure me into paying someone else's debt. Pls note Fido and Chatr are owned by Rogers. Rogers out sources their accounts receivable dept. to collections agencies. I have the list of the agencies. Metropolitan Credit Adjusters is on the list. After years of fighting for an apology, I have discovered that they have a Rogers division. Therefore when you phone Rogers accounts receivable department, you maybe talking to the same individual as when you phone MCA.
Their loyalty is to their commission and pay check not their customer Fido. Rogers outsources every department including the President's Office. I wonder what would happen if every Rogers, Fido, and Chatr customer who is upset with their system wrote a letter to the board of directors?
You have nothing to lose by writing to the board of directors explaining your situation and explaining why their system is dysfunctional. Also mention that your only hope of paying back is with instalments. Also mention that their accounts recovery system is NOT allowing you to pay back your debt, and ask for their help. - Lorraine Burkethey keep calling and I get charged for it on my cell phone. Annoying
