- GeorgeThese peolpe called my father and told him I was being sued and he called them but did not give them any info about me. I called them the next day and talked to a Shawn Sanders. Ol Shawn said I had written three bad checks to payday loan company. They said that it was filed in the county courts office, but when I called the court to ask about it they told me there was nothing in there system on me. The County Bad Check Department said this is a scam and not to give them any info about myself. The lady also said if they keep calling to refer them to the CBCD and they would talk to them.
- KatherineReceived a call from this number where they were asking for my sister. They said it had to do with a court matter out of San Joaquin County. I advised that if it was truly a court matter, then they'd have her direct contact info and address. They said she listed me as an emergency contact. (BS!) I advised the guy (John at x123) that I would forward the message but to not call my phone anymore. Little did they know that I work for a private investigation firm and immediately did research on them. My hunch was right...they are a debt collection agency. I phoned the number back and a guy buy the name of John answered and when I asked if this was x123, he says "Oh you're looking for John Sanders", even though this guy sounded JUST like the guy I had previously spoken to. Anyhow, I told him that I relayed the message to my sister and that I do NOT appreciate how they were dishonest by saying they were tied to the court. I also let them know they are dealing with someone who works for private investigators and that I am filing a claim with the FTC.

- harleycop07 replies to JoanIwas getting a call at work from a company that said they where a police officer from New York. I have never been to New York. When I called the number back that they told me to call it came up a towing company in New York. I called a planner who gave me a number I can call to see if numbers are real or not and found out that alot of the numbers that are comiung into my house are scam numbers. So do not think you are better then anyone else, because it can happen to you too.
- CamilleSomeone contacted a friend of a friend stating that I owed taxes so I need to call this # immediately. I have no clue who this is. I haven't worked for over 8 years so how could it be taxes. So I decided to look up this number to see who the company is affiliated with this number.

- ConnieThey call me at work all the time and have even called people who know me and left my private information including the last four of my SSN on a voice mail at someone else's house! When I call back they either hang up on me or transfer me to the party I ask for only no one at that number ever picks up. They have to provide you with a paper trail of any loan documents if there is indeed a loan. They cannot just call and say you owe them money without providing any documentation.

- parker| 1 replyi recieved a call from this number stating i owed them $500 for a payday loan. They could not give me the loan originization date but did tell me the creditor. I did some research online with the FDCPA and it states that the collection agency by law has to send me debt validation. I am unfortunatley a victim of collection fraud and am taking precautions from now on. This company they are collecting for is not on my creit report anywhere. Be very careful who you are paying thinking your doing the right thing but cleaning up old debts.

- Resident47 replies to parkerYep, never pay without proof. I'm guessing that initial phone call did not make all the required disclosures, so you're owed a dunning letter shortly. Respond with a dispute. Remember you're not due validation until you demand it in writing within 30 days of receiving that dunning.
Given the illegal behavior reported in this thread, I doubt this bunch will be able to validate. More likely you'll collect evidence of violations and can file a right nice lawsuit sometime in 2013. - Resident47Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

Contacted a relative that I was being investigated for check fraud. They even disclosed my full ssn number. And, had the nerve to say they already filed paperwork in my home county.
Fact One... I have a job where there is intense security. Background... criminal background... this includes any sort of issues involving court cases, check writing, bad credit score. Hence, I would not have my job.
Fact Two... It is against the law to disclose any personal information to a third party.
So, they threaten with jail time, stating they are the government, etc. I will contacting my AG tomorrow. And, also will be filing with the FTC.- Caller: Undisclosed in voicemail

- FredThis number keeps calling and also family members with a message saying to call back within 24 hours or case will be turned over to legal and you will be served. For one thing they are calling about a loan 7 years ago which was filed through chapter 13. They say you owe $800.00 but will drop it down to $400.00 if paid today or if you give them your bank information they will take payment then. After I told them I did not owe them anything and it was filed under bankruptcy the following day they call my son he did not answer, just got message. I called the number on caller id and they said no one from there had called anybody, I said you dump ass there is caller ID, then I told them I was turning them into legal authorities so hopefully they stop calling.

Legal services for a summons will be issued to my residence or place of employment. The case will be on hold for 24 hours. Call 888-841-0404 stating that the case number as SVC1158.
I called from a business phone and a man answered RHA. When I told him I had a message about case SVC1158 and I asked why he called. He was quiet for a few minutes as if he was looking for the case number. Then he asked for my phone number and said that he would take it off the documents. I asked him what number did he have and he replied several. He then told me that if I could not give him my phone number he could not help me in a loud, mean voice. I hung up. SCAM- Caller: RHA

- sue legal asst at debt collector law firI got a recorded message on my cell phone that the call was in regards to US Code Title 15 and to call them at 888-841-0404 within 24 hours or the matter will be brought to my local jurisdiction, and that my number is CL12170,
I did not call them back as first and foremost I know that they cannot leave a message like that on a voice mail and that violated federal law.
