I face the same problem. They sent me 3 messages and I replied STOP. Now my Rogers bill is charged $50 for that stupid short text that I did not sign-up for. Rogers asked me to call 1-888-846-6939. Need to know if anyone manage to get through this without paying the charges they charge on your account.

I just called that number 1-888-846-6939 from the company Mobile Messager  and waited for a representative.   I explained to the customer service rep how I got scammed by typing in www.googe.ca instead of www.google.ca and entered my number for a contest.    And since then I was getting spammed with text messages.   My cell phone provider is Fido and they refused to reverse any charges and provied me the number 1-888-846-6939 and deal with them directly.  Fido also informed me if you called and talked to a rep they will issue a check to you with the amount they have been charging.

I ended up waiting 15mins for a rep, "Leonard", and explained the scam situation.   He then replied "Well there is a 30 day money back guarantee" and took my address information to send me a check back for all the charges. Supposedly it'll take 10-14 working days to receive the check.  I will update this post once I received the check.

My daughter got charged $5 also and replied "Stop" to this message. This is a scam. The idea here being that if you do not reply "Stop" you will get additional messages at $5 per message response. If you do repond "Stop" you get only one $5 charge for that one email response. The best solution was in a previous submission.

    1) DO NOT RESPOND "STOP" through your cell phone

    2) Call 888-846-6939  and cancel all services to your cell phone through their automated service. That way, there are no charges at all.

    3) If you did repond "Stop" try to have them reverse the charges.

    4) Complain to your local Provincial or State Consumer Protection Agency about these guys. The more complaints the better chance to stop this illegal tactic.

Your wireless company has no incentive (unlike you credit card company) to follow up either with the vendor and reverse these charges as this makes money for them without them incurring any legal exposure.

This number has sent me 8 unsolicited text messages and charged me $5 per text.  I complained to Rogers and they say there is nothing they can do about it that I have to deal with the company.

The consumer should be better protected from these crooked scamers!
For all we know the money they steel goes straight to Terrorist Cells if not Organized Crime.

I'm on the CRTC's No Call list for telemarketing and I'm receiving solicitation TXT msg's from 888-846-6939. They are harassing me to send STOP to end the $5 weekly subs. I've never Sub to thier services so it's a tick/scam.

looks like there are a lot of us getting victimized this way.  For me it is Rogers too who won't help.

However, there is a place to complain.  It's called the Commissioner for Complaints for Telecom Services.  This is a federal government agency, associated with the Canadian Radio Telecommuncations Commission - the regulator.  These are the people who control Rogers licence.  So...if enough people complain to the Commissioner, then Rogers may be forced to do something.

I called the company and took my number off with the automated system. I am now waiting to be connected to an operator to tell them they cannot charge me $5 for services I did not request. You can get to the customer service line by dialing 1-888-846-6939, use the system to take your number off of the system, then press 9 to get to the main menu. Then you can get connected to the customer service line by pressing 1. Hopefully I'll be able to update this when (IF!) I ever get through. So far, 10mins on hold.

Ok -- I made it through -- about 15mins on hold. The rep told me that I will not be charged if I didn't respond with the PIN they sent me in the original text -- so that is great. We'll see if that's the case when my next cell bill comes in -- and boy oh boy, I tell you -- I will be none-too-pleased if I get charged for that :|

I had nine calls at $2.00 a text and 3 some other kind of service at $5.00 a shot!!!! And they dinged me $48.00  It is unbelievable.  Called my cell phone provider and they told me that it was a web site and the only way I could stop it was by texting them to either "Stop" or "Unsubscribe".  So far it has worked for 4 numbers!

    SMS Number: 34788

If you received premium SMS spam in Canada from 34788 then its Mobile Messenger (mobilemessenger.com).

Rogers Wireless rep told me to complain via  www.txt.ca or email shortcodes@cwta.ca to get a refund.

They MUST refund you all your cash.Bascially its an act of theft.

This is a premium $5 service and Mobile Messenger is basically sending unsolicted messages to rape your telecom bill. This company does not google well and were sued in the US.

I found $10 charge for one premium text message on my June 20 phone bill from Rogers. I phoned customer service and was told I have to call that number.  I tried and waited for 20 minutes and gave up.  I was also charged  $13.75 by a company called 2WayTraffic 1-800-301-4217. When I called that number I was told by total charges including July invoice $66.25. Again Rogers said these are third party charges and I will have to call them directly. I am making a

Up to now, I have called twice my service provider to block them and get refund from my service provider. They are a third party with a phoney website of "www.ca.purecrushnow.com". You must have given your cell phone number to them through that website or others. They text you and charge your service provider for the text and your service provider charges you of course. Interestingly, they declared they have a job available and we responded to their call not questioning why they need our cell phone number to email them our resume.
