- TwinkleThis number called me twice today: 1st 8:00 am & 2nd 6:21pm. No ID just the number with an instruction to call back. I never responded, just listened to the voicemail. Now I'm posting this for everyone to be aware of this SCAM!
- patsy replies to LVV| 1 replyI received a call from this number last night. The woman said "this is Suntrust Bank" and asked me name, then asked for the last 4 of my social to verify. I told her she needed to verify she was Suntrust. She gave me this number. I called back to the number and didn't go to automated first, went straight back to a haughty woman with a Jamaican accent. I hung up. I went to Suntrust today and sat down with a bank officer. He said it was a scam and that Suntrust would not call us asking for our personal info on the phone. I checked my accounts and all was fine. Credit card paid up, nothing over due, so it is complete [***] to say it was about a credit card. If you get a call from this number hang up and go to your bank and check your account.
- AnonymousI don't know if this is a scam or not. The company claiming to be Suntrust called me on a weekday at work. My primary number on all important matters is my cell phone so I first thought it was odd they were calling my business. Immediately the caller wanted me to give them the last four of my social to confirm my identity. I refused to do so, and the lady said I could give my address. I refused to give that and asked for a second time what this was regarding and she said again "an important business matter." I asked them to give me info to confirm they were who they said they were and she said "I called YOU." Just feeling sketchy about it I asked for her name and phone number. She said to call my local Suntrust branch and give them this phone number and that the Suntrust branch would confirm it was an official number and then I should call them back.
I followed their advice, called my local Suntrust branch and said this was not one of their phone numbers.- Caller: 8888931173
- AndyThis number is a scam! Also 8553135194 is a scam too! They are not Suntrust! The first thing they did was ask for my account number when I spoke to a person. This is a very elaborate scam!
- PachaPigg replies to patsyExcellent advice; I got a call from this # on a Sunday, which is a bit odd for a bank account call. Woman identified herself as working w/ SunTrust, asked for my SS#, I said "are you NUTS?" and hung up. I called SunTrust on Monday, they said there was nothing out of the ordinary going on with my accounts and that calls like that weren't the way they did business. Others posting here are saying it IS a legit #, however, I will err on the side of caution and not give out any personal info to anyone over the phone.
- Gerald replies to ncTriadMany of the messages are part and parcel with the scam itself. NO Bank will ask for personal information over the phone , period. When a respondent says they work for the Bank and this is a legitimate way of conducting business you can rest assured that it is phoney and is being used to give credibility to the scam artists.
- Margaretreceived an automated phone call this evening saying it was SunTrust and to call back at an 88 88 931733 phone number. when I called that number they asked for varying information about my account and ask for the account number. when I gave it to them they couldn't identify it and asked for more information. I told them I wouldn't give them information. They told me to call SunTrust and verify they were legitimate. SunTrust advised there was nothing wrong with my accounts, they didn't recognize the phone number, and SunTrust didn't call me. This appears to be a scam.

- Rusty| 4 repliesThis is a legitimate number. I'm not sure why people are saying this is a scam. If you get a call from this number and you feel uneasy, just call the main Suntrust line and explain you received a call from the collections department and they will transfer you to the appropriate department. In my case, I had been out of town for several weeks and for the first time forgot to pay my credit card bill. They were very nice, and even refunded my late fee because it was the first time I was late. I'm so glad I followed up! Calling something a scam that isn't a scam just breeds unnecessary fear in people and is not helpful. (By the way a couple of years ago I was the victim of real identity theft and Suntrust refunded my money and took the loss.)

- mopsnetwork replies to Rusty| 3 repliesI believe it is legitimate too; however, a few companies have blacklisted the number for spam. Sorry to say that they don't say what kind of spam it is, it's just categorized as just that.
Our own database doesn't show anything, but everyone has their own opinion on this number I suppose.
Hope the info above helps. - WolfmanJack replies to mopsnetwork| 1 replyInteresting how all of a sudden two seemingly random people decide to look up a number when they already know who it belongs to and then come to a site that exposes scams to say how "legitimate" this number is. Now why would you do that? Why would you look up a number when you knew who called you?
- Tamianth replies to WolfmanJackMargaret has it right.. if a company cold calls you over something on your account, they should be able to give you your information to make sure its you - verifying some account numbers and name, address phone, or other verifying info. Not the other way around.
When in doubt, always call the number on the back of your card or go into your local branch office in person. - MJG replies to mopsnetworkYou are a big help in telling us this company is a fraud! Thank you!
- TS replies to LVVThis is not regarding your credit card per suntrust. I pay mine every month right on the date it is due, and they are calling me. So sorry guys not about creditcard its a scam
- AshleyI have received three calls from this number in the past 3 days. When I did not answer the first time, they left an autmated message about a "peronal banking matter" and I needed to call back within 24 hours. Today they called again, and I picked up the phone just to see if I got a person or robot. It was an automated message with several options. I hung up. Five minutes later, they called AGAIN, and this time it was a real person. I pretended I was someone else and took a message. Again they said it was a personal banking matter. I have read enough online here to know I will NEVER be calling them back!
- Caller: SCAMMER
- JenniferCalled office, I answered and they hung up. If it IS Suntrust (which I doubt very much), that's no way to do business. CID said "Suntrust Banks"
- Caller: Suntrust Banks
- Uorme replies to nuNo bank calls to tell you that your payment is late until it's months late. They do not have to let you know they are reporting to the credit bureau. No bank will ask for your personal information over the phone. Instead they will mail you a letter stating you need to pay your bill. I have a feeling the people saying otherwise are part of the scam.
- Mark Etheridge| 1 replyThis number continually calls me, and is asking for my social security number. I am hesitant to provide this information because I have no way of knowing if they are who they say they are.
- CWG40 replies to Mark EtheridgeI agree. Never give out personal financial or SS# or DL# to ANYONE who cold calls you. Or anyone who you do not personally know.
- BajadaIt being a legit STB number collecting on a credit card is all fine and good. BUT--- I don't have any credit cards nor have I ever had any business with STB in my lifetime. I have identity theft protection so it's not like someone opened an account in my name either. So why are they calling my house over and over again?
- RomeThis is garbage. I called the number back. They asked for my last four of social. No problem. Thru can't do damage with that. The recording then asked for my PIN. That's a scam. Called Suntrust to ask if there were any issues with my account and was told, no, your account is secure, no issues. These scamming pieces of filth can die in a fire.
