This number called me on 12/23/17, around 8:30am EST, my Comcast phone picked up the number and spam, therefore the phone only rang once. I went to the PayPal website to review the contact numbers available for them, the number 888-895-5705 isn't listed, also to my surprise PayPal was "closed" the company operates on PST. Once I gathered the information, I called the number back this morning 12/23/17 and "John" answered, however what I found strange was before "John" answered there's some type of message that bleeps in, then a quick message for perhaps 3 seconds, next "John" picks up, I called twice and the same person answered. To entertain myself, I called back a third time and "Jacob" answered the phone.  From my online research it appears that this is possible a collection agency, however it's not "PayPal" therefore, I'm confused by the misrepresentation. If it's in-fact a collection agency, they must indicate so, misleading customers should be reported to the FTC.

I know this is an older post but I was wondering how long it took until PayPal was able to take the $600 from your linked account?

Called several times within a couple hours of each call. One ring, then hang up. No voicemails.

if it was PayPal don't give him the information it's irresponsible of them to call you. Even if you do have 80 IQ that's no excuse

this number has called me 4-5 times a day for last few days and i dont answer unknown numbers

This # has called my 14 yr old's cell 22 times is the lat 4 days.
If it's truely collections why the hell would they call a 14 yr old.......this # is now blocked.

My call blocker stops this after one ring, but it would be nice if they didn't call so early in the morning. The calls start around 8:30 AM and then several more times during the day. Paypal has confirmed that this is NOT them, no matter what the Caller ID shows.

Calls from this number 5-8 a day. Finally called the number to ask why they were calling. They said they were from pay pals and looking to get $255. For something that I purchased. The company they said I purchased from was a few miles away from me so I drove over to find out it was a scam. The company knew nothing about this purchase. This was a company I was looking at online to get pricing and some point that was all.  Bunch of scam artist don’t listen to them if they call from this number. I am reporting it anyplace I can find to report it

They keep calling everyday without leaving a message. I contacted PayPal about these harassing calls and it is not them. Just some dumb scammers.

It’s PayPal letting you know you have a negative balance

If you know who called, why would you look up the number.
Besides, even if this was PayPal for, it doesn't mean it is for others. Scammers spoof legitimate numbers all the time.

Or it could be a scammer out to try stealing your money.

Never trust a caller to be who they claim, always call from an official number to verify if they did call.

Calls three or four times a day, every day, never leaves a message. . It always comes up as "Unknown caller" and I don't answer those kinds of calls. I tried calling the number back, and got a message entirely in Spanish. If this WAS actually PayPal trying to contact me, I don't think that would be the result of trying to call them back.

Scam, spam, calls every day multiple times a day. Do not answer or they will call more.

Been getting multiple calls per day from this number for weeks, but the joke's on them because however  they got my information, it was my Google Voice number which I rarely check. Hope they enjoy the block list.

I dont have any paypal acct. I just turned 18 last week. Duh!

Because I called PayPal and asked why I would be getting calls for somebody with another name. They said no reason and they said suspected fraud.
