- Receptionist| 3 replies888-899-1126, These scumbags are nothing but POND SCUM that scum around to see what they steel from you.
- jdub| 1 replyWoman with very strong Indian accent left a message. (Quite persistent because I intentionally hung up on her 2 previous calls just seconds before). She said she was with Equifax Solutions and needed to verify some information. She mentioned my ACTUAL mortgage company and left case number.
Since I am going through a refinance, I thought it was possible someone might need some information BUT I called my mortgage company to verify first. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY NEEDED AND THEY DID NOT ASK ANYONE FROM EQUIFAX ANYTHING TO CALL ME.
EQUIFAX SOLUTIONS is totally bogus and they are phishing for informations. Will these [***] please get a life or, even better, rot in hell where they belong?- Caller: Equifax Solutions
- Call type: Prank
- jdub replies to jdubI just listened to the message again. She said her name was "Ruby" and the company name was Equifax Mortgage Solutions. Also, the first 2 times she called, the callerID said "Unavailable." The 3rd time she called, the caller ID said Equifax. That really clued me in to thinking this was a complete scam. And it was.
- Refi-guyThis saved us. Nearly identical situation. The person, "Ruby" had just enough information to sound legit; but since my wife is a realtor, she knew right away it was a scam. After just two questions from my wife the lady got nervous and hung up. BEWARE. When in doubt, check with your bank directly, do not let the person conference call you in. It could be their cousin for all you know. Legit companies will always let you call them back after you do your own checks. Thanks to post and JDUB.
- Caller: Equifax Solutions
- CharlesWow. I got a call from the same woman. Ruby. With a very heavy Indian Accent. I figured it was a scam, but very happy I checked here first before calling back. The caller ID did come back as Equifax. And I am also going through a refinance. But I am usually very leery of any call I did not originate. Thanks for all the help everyone
- Caller: Equifax Solutions
- cautiousSame thing just happened. She asks to be on a conference call with my bank, who then needs my SSN to verify it's me. I stopped the call and called my bank to make sure they didn't release any information. better safe than sorry
- offendedMy number is on a do not call list and still they call. They may find action taken against them.
- Caller: equalfax
- JRI received a message to return a call to this number. They said something about an issue with one of my clients and the IRS... What a load of s**t.
- BGI contacted Equifax and asked them if 888-899-1126 was even one of their phone numbers. They replied no and do not contact them. I got the same response from the bank.
- NaterI got a call from Ruby as well. I called back and a man named "Stefan" answered the phone. He said he needed to connect me via 3 way call with my current mortgage company to answer questions about my refinance. The first thing they asked me was my social security number. I laughed at them and hung up.
- Caller: Ruby
- jon q public"unknown name" on the caller ID, and missing an 8 in the supposed area code.
I listened again to the message and indeed he says Equifax as well with a thick Indian accent. Must be Rubys' scumbag husband.
The worrisome part is he started out with my name. - g| 1 replyGlad i hung up while they had me on hold and googled the #
Thanks everyone! - Sally replies to ReceptionistGot the call today, didn't sound legitimate, this was a male, also with an Indian accent. The phone number that showed up on my phone history was for a radio show hotline. Be careful everyone.
- MichelleI just received a call from this "company" asking about my mortgage. I told them I would contact my loan processor directly. What a load of crap.
- Caller: didn't catch the name
- BillSame here. Female, Indian accent. Stated my mortgage loan company needed additional info on my bank account. I told her I would check with them myself. She knew the name of my bank and mortgage loan company.
- ZACKSCAM WANTING INFO ABOUT MY MORTGAGE. MY BANK KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT !!!!!
- AleksCalled today a woman with an Indian accent talking about she's calling from my credit union mortgage department to discuss some findings on my credit report because I had recently applied for a mortgage refi with my credit union. - These-folks-are-legitimate| 6 repliesThis number is valid. I am currently refinancing my mortgage through my existing lender which is also my originator. Here is my story as it is laid out yesterday, and this morning:
I received the phone call as others did, ran the 888 number through like I always do (super careful with fraud these days.) and I got this site yesterday, so I read the results and immediately decided not to call them back.
I received an email from my lender this morning. Here is the email (removing any identifying info to protect myself)
Hello yyyy,
Just wanted to quickly reach out to you in regards to a request from our processing department.
One of our third-party verification vendors, Equifax, has been trying to contact you as part of the review/approval process for your loan. yyyy & I just wanted to reassure you this is a legitimate request.
I only say that because we’ve had some issues in the past because when Equifax calls it usually shows up as a number people don’t recognize and they’re not always the best at articulating the reason for their calling. And with the prevalence of fraud/identity theft these days, people are understandably cautious in instances like these. But again, this is a legit inquiry on the part of our third-party vendor.
If you could return their message at 513-651-6280 and reference yyyyyy, it would help our processor greatly. If you have any questions, please just let me know.

Next, I googled the 513 number in the email from my lender. I was able to identify it as a company called CSC Credit Services. From there, http://www.equifax.com/csc/ - Equifax bought them out. The company is 100% legitimate. https://csccredit.com/ is their old website as well; which is down as far as I can tell.
So, I will be calling back the 513 number and talking with them since my lender has said to me it is ok to do so.
I hope you all take a moment to look into this if you are concerned.
Yes, I got the slimy voicemail from the Indian accented guy - it even had a hint of British accent to it and the "have a wonderful day" was over the top at the end of the voicemail. It didn't sound legit. I did google it as you all did, and yes, I thought it was fake. It isn't.
Be safe, be careful.- Caller: Equifax Mortgage Services / CSC Credit Services Inc.
- MikeHuntleton| 2 repliesKeep in mind, just because the number is legit, doesn't mean the caller is!
Scammers spoof legitimate numbers to trick people into a false sense of security to answer their calls and attempt to get money or personal information from you.
This is why no one will encourage others to report of legitimate numbers, as they only confuse people into believing it is a legit call when a scammer has called them and they come here to find out about the call.
If it is a legitimate call, then anyone receiving a call would know WHY they got a call from this number, right?
So what would be a reason to come and post about it to a site designed to share information about UNKNOWN callers, such as Telemarketers, Scammers and Debt Collectors?
If your call was legit, telling about it won't be any comfort to those who may get a spoofed call from some scammer! - BigA replies to These-folks-are-legitimate| 3 repliesSo why would Equifax be contacting you in regards to a mortgage? They don't issue loans. They don't service loans. Your lender runs your credit. Equifax reports your credit. If there is something wrong you get turned down for the loan. You get a letter from your lender telling you that. At that point you can contact Equifax to dispute the report. That is what this CSC does. I find your whole diatribe looking a lot like something someone posted here to convince people that they should part with all their information to a scammer. The second link you put up doesn't work, and the first link you put up doesn't support your story.
