If you read my message; I provide their direct number, which my lender provided. I didn't advise people to answer the call, I did advise them to call the 513 number and to do their own research.

I recently opened a very large loan through another bank, right before applying for refinancing my loan with my bank.  My banks underwriting group is verifying that the information I provided is accurate so their underwriting team engaged Equifax to validate the detail, and the Equifax Mortgage team does that, by contacting me to validate the other new loan details with my other bank that I just opened.  This transaction has nothing to do with my credit bureau credit rating. It has everything to do with the large personal/unsecured loan I just opened.  I did provide you the link to Equifax, and I did provide you the CSC direct phone number. As I said, do your research.  If you aren't doing what I am doing, and you aren't expecting this type of thing, and you didn't verify it with your lender or they didn't tell you that it is necessary, then don't do anything.
On the other hand, there are a handful of folks that are dealing with this chain of events, and it is absolutely valid and not a scam.

Doesn't matter if the number is legitimate, scammers will still spoof them and make calls to look as if they are calling from that number. Scammers often give a secondary number if they want someone to call them back as part of their scamming technique. So calling back the legitimate number after getting a scam call will not help anyone and only puts a burden on the business you call if your frustrated over the call you got. Its one of the reasons people here do not encourage others to post about a legitimate call, since it does not help most people who get scam calls.

For example,  a scammer spoofs a Bank"s number and gets someone angry over the call. They come here and see everyone saying the number belongs to the Bank, some people will think it was the Bank scamming them and post negatively against the Bank as scammers. Then a battle over legitimacy ensures and then confusion over who is calling. People don't always read ALL the posts and make assumptions based on how far they read before deciding.

So if anyone feels the need to post about a legitimate number, be sure to add that scammers can spoof the number and people should be aware it might not be a legitimate caller.

I went to the working link.  I went to each one of the links that took me somewhere.  The link on their site to this csc doesn't work either.  Not one of those links said anything about calling people up about loans or about checking about details.  Not one.  The three consumer links were about credit reports, disputing, and other questions.  The Enterprise page was about data collection not calling up about credit details or issuing loans.  The small business page didn't say anything about calling people, and the last one was about HR management.  That one I could see them calling you, however, that isn't what you indicated in your original post which was

You seem awfully worried that people should believe you, something a scammer would want when they call people and ask for personal information.

I'm sitting in a hotel room quietly using my computer as my husband's still sleeping.  Our cell rings.  I don't answer as I don't know the number.  I can clearly say it's not legit as no legitimate business calls before 6 am.

September 6 and September 7, 2017 I got voicemails from "Tim" at 888-899-1126 stating information most people don't have and requesting a "conference call" LOL, just like the other complaints above. He had the very heavy foreign accent and spoke very fast. The whole thing reeks of BS. If his request was legitimate, why wouldn't MY BANK let me in on this need it supposedly has???  HELLO!!!!  Stupidness.  So many liars and cheats in the world. Disgusting people.

got a voicemail from this number stating they wanted to do a 3 way call. they names a financial institution that i do business with. My cell number is never used on any business dealings or I would have falled for the scam

How dare you come in here and assign yourself a name offering trust in this call?  An email which actually reads, “...they’re not always the best at articulating the reason for their calling...”  Are you kidding me?!  This is a total scam.  Do NOT answer this call and only speak to your lender directly via their main phone number.  Just because you get an email “saying it’s OK”, doesn’t mean it is!  My MIL replied to a spoofed email and her email account was quickly hacked, raided, and info stolen.  NEVER trust numbers you don’t know or respond to an email as suspicious as that.
I am refinancing and I received a call from this number.  I didn’t  pick up and they didn’t leave a message.  Legitimate callers involved with my loan would not be foreigners with little grasp of the English language who don’t leave messages!

Same here.  I'm in the process of refinancing but am on a first name basis with my rep.  This is NOT legit.  Indian woman as well wanting to verify information about one of my credit cards.  Scam all the way around.

Same type of call requesting conference call...wanted to verify mortgage info on current loan with company A.  Thing is, my refi is with Company B, who is also my current lender.  Duh.

I'm in the middle of buying a house, dealing with mortgage company.  Got a call from this # saying they were with Equifax and wanted to put me on a conference call with my bank (new the name) to confirm my account information.  They put me on hold and I hung up and blocked the number!!!! I'm always very careful, but because it all sounded on track at first, I actually held a minute before hanging up!!!   THESE PEOPLE ARE THE LOWEST!!!!

I am currently going through a refinance and people from this number have called and left a message now twice.  Asking me to do a conference call with my bank to verify credit card information.  Checked in with the company that I'm actually doing the refinance with and they said that they didn't need any other information from me.  Definite Scam!

I got a phone call from this number and the person had an Indian accent. He said that he was with Equifax Solutions and needed to verify some information. He mentioned my ACTUAL mortgage company and a loan application that I have with them.  How could they have this information?  Extremely concerning.
I told them I don’t know who you are and I am not going to give you personal information.  And I hung up.

Scam alert-they say they are from equifax and know who your mortgage is through.  Do not give any information.***********this is a scam************

I received a call today from this lady with a heavy accent.   She said she had to verify my current mortgage company to clarify some information about my refinance.   I hung up and googled the number.

So how is it you are here looking up a number you know was good?

How do you account for the posts such as the 3 before yours?  Those posts are consistent with the garden variety phishing scams reported in thread after thread. And then you are here explaining all that.

Shill?  Apologist?  Something seems off.  I am skeptical of your praise, you laid it on pretty thick. Overly explained and overly complex --  and THAT makes me skeptical about calls from this number.
